App functionality is clearly not a priority for BABRI given that I am experiencing the same issues as users did last year. Frequent crashes. Issues with displaying videos in landscape mode (will get audio but often picture migrates off screen). Crucially, you cannot count on being able to download videos for offline watching. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Worst part is I have the most trouble downloading MBE course lectures—maybe 1/3 will download, the rest do not respond when downloads are attempted. It’s especially bad given how many times this summer Barbri has gone offline itself, so you can’t try to account for those service outages. If you were planning on using an iPad for offline viewing, don’t pick Barbri.

Unacceptable for a company to charge these kinds of prices to have a totally broken app in 2022. Total waste of money and I really regret using Barbri for my prep.

There are comedian podcasters with better platforms than what BarBri is putting out with this App. Functionality is so limited and buggy. It is insulting considering what BarBri charges, insane considering this is 2022, and stressful when the last thing we all need right now is for our bar prep app to add stress to our lives.

The quizzes don’t function. Occasionally I can download a video, but I don’t rely on it. For a company that charges an exorbitant amount of money for its services, I’d expect a functional app.

I prefer watching the lecture videos on my iPad because the Barbri overheats my MacBook.  The issue is that the iPad app is one of, if not, the worst iOS apps I’ve ever used.  The lectures only play for 10 seconds and then stop.  I have to keep logging in and out or deleting and installing the app to make the videos even playable.  Consider using a different bar prep course if you plan on utilizing mobile devices.  I had to use Themis for a law school course and hardly had any issues with its app.  It’s already a week into bar prep and I’ve already had countless issues with the Barbri app.

This app is unusable. Questions are not responsive, videos won’t load or play, and other basic functions are inoperable. What a joke. You would think after paying thousands of dollars for a Barbri course that Barbri could communicate their content to me. Nope.

I highly recommend using a different bar prep service other than Barbri if you are interested in using mobile applications during your studies. 

This app simply doesn’t work. It’s impossible to get through a single lecture without the app crashing, or the video pausing/losing your place. Want to listen to lectures while on a walk? Not possible. Want to listen to lectures while in the car? Good luck. 

Use Themis, BarMax, JDAdvising or literally any other service. I cannot stress enough how much I regret purchasing Barbri for my bar prep and having to use their terrible accessories like this app for my studying.

I’ve had this app on my phone for years. Yesterday, Barbri shut down for every single person in the country. We were all trying to access it on the website which I didn’t work, but I did work on this app. Barbri then told us to change our password so that we could access the bar prep course on the browser. I have not been able to log back on in the app since I changed my password which is soooooo annoying!!!!!!!

Don’t bother wasting your time, this app does not work and is full of bugs. See the rest of the reviews for details. I can’t even get a lecture to play beyond 30 seconds. You’d think for all the money your shelling out that an established bar prep company like Barbri would have a basic handle on how to run a functional app. Nope, they are totally ok with serving this heaping pile of dog excrement to their customers. It’s 2022 guys, get it together.

For the money I paid (4k) this app should be able to everything that you can do in web browser at least. Both the website and app should do more. Very disappointed in the lack of mobile friendly and distance learning friendly materials. Almost everything is a PDF or something useless. I don’t want “paper”. Why? They should be making this program more accessible. It is like they are curmudgeon old attorneys refusing to grow with the times. Wish I went with Barmax or Quimbee.

This is truly one of the worst apps I have ever used on an iPhone. I am quite surprised at how terrible the features and functions are considering the significant cost of bar prep. The app is incredibly slow, constantly crashes, has trouble performing any of the offline downloads, and much more. I will be letting my firm know that they should not be using barbri for bar prep if it purports to have mobile technology and resources that does not function in even the most basic ways.

Using BarBri’s app—especially on an iPad—will cause you immense frustration and many wasted hours as you prepare for this difficult exam. 

My tip 1: each time you try to begin a lecture video, it will freeze. Exit the app completely. Log back in. It will then freeze a second time as you again attempt to watch the lecture video. Exit the app again, re-log in, and it should play with sporadic success from that point forward.

My tip 2: do not attempt to answer the multiple choice questions on this app.

Even after the update, the app still says it cannot find my username or Student ID. I copied the username straight from the website, still no go. Can’t even recover my password because the app does not recognize my user ID. Website works just fine on my laptop, but the app is useless. I learn best by listening like a podcast while I drive or do some other physical task, so this is really hindering my studying. Very disappointed, especially after how much they charged for this program.

I’m happy that barbri “overhauled” it’s app, but I really need the video player to work better. Right now, you can download audio and video, but the video DOES NOT rotate into landscape even in full screen. So, with all the other buttons at the bottom of the video player in portrait view, the sliding bar for moving through the video is way too small and you skip 20 mins just by moving it slightly. That is if you can move it at all. Every time I try to slide it, my phone thinks I’m switching apps....
I like to watch the video lectures just to keep myself familiar with content I’ve already watched. So my biggest feedback to improve the accessibility for listening to videos and content when we can’t be at our computers.  
(Also, I have not tried the quizzes or anything, so this feedback is limited to the lectures.)

Barbri clearly has money, we pay $3000 for bar prep. Please stop neglecting the app and get with the program! We should be able to see our time for the day and the main home page in the app. We could even use a cool flash card feature while we are out and about and only have our phones to squeeze in study time. This app could be SO MUCH MORE helpful. Please work on it and do it soon so the July test takers can utilize it!!

I’d love to download a lecture and re-listen to it while I go on a walk so I can get some sun. When I tried this, I walked 20 minutes to the grocery store, listening to the video. Once done shopping, I tried to start up the video again for my walk back. The app froze, so I exited it and restarted the lecture. The fast forward function does not work + the ability to drag the time marker does not work, however, so I could only listen to the first 20 minutes of the lecture for a third time on my way back. This did not appear to be a problem when I later had wireless at home and streamed the lecture (i.e. I could fast forward without issue)

I love Barbri and think it is an amazing resource. Being able to have it on my phone while I’m on the go is super beneficial. However, it is very very VERY rare for the app to actually work. It is constantly glitching and crashing. I would say 7 times out of 10, it doesn’t work. I originally had issues accessing the correct year of material, but I eventually got that fixed after contacting support. Now it is an issue with videos appearing, loading, or even getting the app to load the different courses. I recommend still getting the app to study on the go, but just know it rarely works. When it does though, it is a great resource!

I agree that the lack of a functioning download feature is a big problem. I can access it through streaming but the fact that I've paid so much money AND it's advertised in the description of what's possible on the app--makes it ridiculous that it doesn't work. Barbri should be better than this. I expect glitches like this with the cheaper companies. This is why I (we) pay extra for Barbri : it's reputation & product delivery. Disappointed.

I like the app for the 1L and 2L study plan but for the PSP, it is lacking even after the recent update. It constantly makes me log back in which is frustrating. If you are using a laptop, you can adjust the speed and volume of the videos but these features are not available on the app for PSP. The major issue is that neither the laptop nor the app save where you are in the video making it hard to take a break, this is also different for PSP vs. 1L/2L where it saves your spot. Please make improvements soon or it will be moot.
