### 5/5 — Bits are important

*2017-08-06, version 2.1*

Thank you for more bits.
I use this app every workout.

### 5/5 — Please Update App

*2017-08-04, version 2.1*

THANK YOU for updating this app. The best app for those of us that are horrible at bar math this is an Invaluable tool!!

### 5/5 — Please update for new Apple iOS

*2017-07-06, version 2.0*

Love the app , but recently ran an update on my I pad and now the app freezes all the time

### 5/5 — Huge time and brain saver

*2016-01-21, version 2.0*

I feel kind of lazy for not doing bar math in my head but it's an awesome app. At 5:30 in the morning when my brain doesn't want to work it's a great tool.

### 5/5 — A Useful Standalone

*2015-12-27, version 2.0*

Really useful app that actually does what it states, doesn't look to bad either.

### 5/5 — Plate Math Helper

*2015-11-23, version 2.0*

I really appreciate this calculator. It's simple and works great. Sometimes my plate math brain gets slow, and it's nice to have it confirmed. It's also great for letting me know where I am in kilos for competition goals.

### 5/5 — Perfect app for the gym.

*2015-10-05, version 2.0*

Just what I was looking for. No more wasted time adding up weights and doing percentages for my bench press. Easy to use and beautiful layout.

### 5/5 — Great for beginners

*2015-10-02, version 2.0*

I just started Olympic weightlifting a few months ago, and I'm still a little slow on the calculations. It's especially tricky because I often warm up with technique plates in lbs, while all other plates and the bar I work with are kg. This app is a huge help for me, especially when recording numbers.

In a future update, would you please consider an ORM % table or some kind of weight % table? It would make things go so much faster for me at the gym.

### 5/5 — Very Helpful

*2015-09-24, version 2.0*

Excellent app! Let's me concentrate on my workout rather than wasting my time figuring out plates. Big thumbs up!

### 5/5 — Wish list

*2015-04-21, version 2.0*

When loading plates would like to see lbs when tapping the kg weight text box.

### 5/5 — Perfect app for the fitness and weightlifting enthusiast.

*2015-04-12, version 2.0*

I love this app because it takes the not so fun math out of my fitness calculation and progress planing. Love it.

### 5/5 — Really easy!

*2015-04-02, version 2.0*

It's really easy and helpful! Makes counting warm ups and working sets a lot faster!

### 5/5 — Essential

*2015-03-11, version 2.0*

This app has made my life of working percentages so simple. Must have if you work percentages too.

### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed!

*2015-03-09, version 2.0*

Helps me focus on lifting and not calculating weights in my head, especially at 6am when my brain is not completely functional yet. I love that I can set my own inventory of iron and bumper plates as well as a custom weight for the bar itself. Well done and thank you!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not good for much

*2024-01-23*

Unless you already know what your weight looks like it won’t do much for you you don’t put in the amount you want island it gives you the plates you need it’s the other way around you give it the amount of plates and it give you a number

### 3/5 — Kg to lbs on plate mode

*2015-11-06, version 2.0*

Wish when your using kg and making your own plates it tells you how many pounds is up instead of switch back to the calculator mode.

### 3/5 — Can be easily improved...

*2014-05-18, version 2.0*

It's fully functional, but for my personal needs, I would like to see:

1) More bar weight options. I use a 45 lb bar, but connected to my safety cabling system with 15 lbs of counterweights, it weighs 30 lbs net...no option for that. Bummer.

2) would love a "progressive weight addition mode". In other words, let's say you were pushing 205 and wanted to do your next set at 225 and then be done with that exercise. So you have 45 bar, 45 plate and 35 plate on each side. To go to 225, this program will have you REPLACE the 35s with new 45s, whereas anyone in this situation would probably just add 10 lbs to each side. A progressive mode would tell you to add 10 lbs to each side. (Might be beyond the developer's abilities?)

3) PLEASE put this out in an iPad (landscape-capable) version soon!

### 3/5 — Great if you are only doing one set!

*2013-08-05, version 1.1.1*

I wish I could find more use for this App, but I have not used more than a couple of times. It's not too functional once you start adding weight for multiple sets.

### 4/5 — Super convenient! UI Bug

*2022-11-05, version 2.1*

I absolutely love this barbell calculator. Sadly, due to a UI bug causing a large chunk of the options to be blanked out on the settings menu, I can’t give it 5 stars. I’ve tried reinstalling, and the issue persists across multiple iOS updates and phones. Please fix the UI bug!

### 4/5 — A suggestion

*2020-04-28, version 2.1*

I love this app and have used it for years. Very convenient and easy to use, especially considering how easy it is to switch between the keypad and plate modes. However, I now own a pair of 65lb plates that make barbell math a little difficult. I know there are also 100lb plates out there as well. It’s not common but they do exist. Would you be able to add these plates as an option when setting plate inventory in a future update?

### 4/5 — A Great Weight Calculator for Kilos!

*2019-06-19, version 2.1*

It’s a very great app and helpful with loading kilo plates for powerlifting without have to do all the math. One suggestion is to create the math conversion from kg to lbs or vice versa under the “plates” section when loading the plates in the app. This is so I don’t have to exit the app and convert the kilos to lbs using my calculator. Thanks!

### 4/5 — Great app but 1lb is lowest in inventory

*2019-01-31, version 2.1*

In this app, you can select the weight sizes you’re working with from 55lb down to 1lb. If you’re using fractional plates, it will just leave the fractionals off. Not a difficult calculation to do in your head obviously. But it’s just a little annoying. Still worth the price.

### 4/5 — Good

*2014-01-25, version 2.0*

Great program. There is one problem though: for olympic weightlifting, when you have two small plates (5kg or less), the smaller plate should be located outside the collar. For example, the correct order for 183 kg would be:
==[25][25][25][2.5][collar][1.5]

If you could fix this, that would be great!!

### 4/5 — Good concept, hard to see buttons

*2012-08-29, version 1.1.1*

This is great app for the times you really have to get the weights right.
The app's dark brown buttons are impossible to see both in bright sunlight or dark areas. I wish they allowed settings to pick high contrast color schemes.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love the app

*2022-03-24, version 2.1*

I’ve been using BarCalc for several years because I don’t care enough to take the time to figure out the weight and would rather take the time to rest between sets. However, I am very disappointed that there hasn’t been an update in years and now the settings screen is half way whited out. I would really like to see this fixed.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2019-06-25, version 2.1*

Great for meets use projector or tv hooked to your phone

### 5/5 — Great

*2019-04-08, version 2.1*

Great

### 5/5 — Love it

*2017-12-17, version 2.1*

This app is simple, yet has everything you need. I have tried three other apps before finding this one, and it is well worth it!

### 5/5 — Have wanted this forever!

*2017-10-09, version 2.1*

I use an app with an on board bar calculator, but it's terrible. I love the that this app has both the weight input by number and by plate value! The graphics are variable and crisp and the interface is intuitive. Overall, it's a great app and worth double the office.

### 5/5 — Staying power

*2017-10-03, version 2.1*

The only app I’ve kept on my phone for years. SO glad it was updated!

### 5/5 — BarCalc

*2017-09-28, version 2.1*

I'm terrible with adding weight for the bar on the fly. This app makes it super easy and let you get back to working out without delay.

### 5/5 — Best sports app I've ever used!

*2017-09-17, version 2.1*

I have day in and day out used this amazing app, for almost 2 years. I'm horrible at mental math and am a really visual person, so this app is perfect for me. I love how simple it is to use and how clear the graphics are. It's especially helpful with being able to switch to pounds so easily when I'm visiting other gyms and not at my barbell club. I tell everyone about this app, even if they make fun of me for not being able to do the math in my head 🙈. Thank you Barbell App creators! You guys are the BOMB. 🔥🔥🔥

### 5/5 — Great tool

*2017-09-09, version 2.1*

My math suffers greatly while CrossFitting... but with this handy tool in my gym bag, I'm freaking Good Will Hunting in the Box.

### 5/5 — Thanks for the update this app is awesome

*2017-09-03, version 2.1*

I use this app every workout. It is very useful.
