The Barclays app HOW TO REGISTER If you’re 16 or over and you have a UK-registered mobile number and a UK Barclays current account or Barclaycard, you can register for the app. You’ll need the 16 digit number off your card, then follow the onscreen instructions. Some customers may be required to verify their identity with a PINsentry card reader. If you’ve got an activation code, follow the onscreen steps to register (you won’t need PINsentry for this). After you’re set up, you’ll only need your 5-digit passcode to log in. Then you can set up Touch ID or Face ID to log in faster in future. After being disappointed with NatWest’s declining customer services and early branch closures, took the plunge and made Barclays my primary bank. This was a culture shock app wise as NatWest had been one of the pioneering banks and Barclays wasn’t quite there at the time! However this has changed happily over the past 5 years and it’s been a fantastic tool when it’s works which is 80% of occasions. Recently a series of updates have oddly required a full reset of the app which then requires you to use a sentry device…. Not a problem if banks (including Barclays) hadn’t started phasing them out years back in favour of using your smart phone! Ironically it doesn’t work as the app has been reset so this results in you going into branch if your unfortunate enough not to have a manual sentry device or one with battery left after then years of not being used (I found out the hard way once)! Fortunately this usually happens maybe once or twice a year (although smaller updates are frequent and don’t need or cause a full reset).
