## What is Barkeep?

BarKeep is a bar journal that keeps a record of every place you drink. Check in at any bar, see your visits on a map, and look back months or years later at where you've been.

Track bars across cities, states, and countries. See your stats grow as you explore new places. Add a bar story to any visit so you remember who you were with, what you ordered, or what made the night worth remembering.

Follow friends, see where they're checking in, and give their visits a Cheers. Leave comments on their check-ins and see who's been to the same bars as you.

When you're already at the bar and want the crew there now, fire the Bar Signal, a one-tap alert that goes out to all your friends letting them know exactly where you are and that it's time to show
  up.

Whether you're a casual bar-goer or someone who drinks their way through every city they visit, BarKeep keeps the record so you don't have to.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4.1 — 2026-08-20

Ask to join the night. Out with someone who forgot to tag you? Tap "I was here too"
on their check-in and they can wave you in. Once they do, you're part of that night:
shared photo album, one comment thread, and your drinks in the group total.

Invites now last all day. Group check-in invites used to expire after an hour, so a
tag you didn't see was gone by morning. They now stay good for 24 hours, and joining
late quietly adds you to that night instead of announcing it to everyone the next day.

Your profile, the way your friends see it. Tapping your picture now opens your real
profile: your photo wall, your trophy case, your stats, and your full check-in
history. Settings moved to the gear in the corner.

Keep your profile to friends only. A new private setting hides your bars, photos, and
history from everyone who isn't your friend. They still see your name and picture, so
they can send you a friend request.

See who cheered you. Tap anyone in the cheers list to open their profile or add them
as a friend. You can also block or report someone from any profile now.

Fixes and polish. Deleting a check-in now clears its lock screen counter instead of
leaving it counting all night, plus a round of smaller fixes throughout.

### 1.4.0 — 2026-07-22

Your drink counter, right on your lock screen. Check in and a live beer counter appears on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island. Tap plus or minus to keep your tally going without ever unlocking your phone. It clears itself after the night, and you can swipe it away or switch it off anytime.

Earn your stripes. Your profile now has a trophy case that fills up as you go, with badges for bars explored, cities and countries visited, becoming a regular at your favorite spot, and weekly streaks for keeping the nights alive. Win the Booze Board and you get a crown. You can check out your friends' trophies too.

Check in anywhere. No location or no signal is no longer a dealbreaker. Just type where you are and check in. It works for a bar the map can't find, a basement with no service, or a flight at 37,000 feet, and your friends still see it.

Run your group nights from the feed. Out with the crew? Edit your bar story, add more people, and count your drinks right from the group card. Group photo albums now keep each person's note with their own photo as you swipe through.

Fixes and polish. Swiping through a photo album now opens the exact photo you tapped, plus a round of smaller fixes throughout.

### 1.3.9 — 2026-07-12

- Find your friends — finally. Add your phone number and Barkeep matches you with friends from your contacts who are already here. One tap to add them, one tap to invite everyone else. Your number never leaves your phone — only a scrambled fingerprint is stored, and you can remove it anytime from your Profile.
- Friend profiles got a serious upgrade. Tap any friend to see their full story: a Memories photo wall, their all-time check-in history month by month, and their friend list — with Mutual badges so you can spot your crew's crew. Found someone new? Send a request right from their profile.
- Your feed, more alive. Tap any check-in card to open it. Faces everywhere — real avatars across your friends list, requests, and search. And a notification badge that actually counts what's waiting: friend requests, group invites, cheers, and comments, cleared the moment you check your inbox.
- The map takes you there. Tap a friend's pin to get Directions straight to the right bar (the right one — no more ending up at the wrong location across town) or jump to their profile. Tap your own pin to reopen that night's post.
- Drinks count from the first sip. Checking in now starts your counter at 1, and you can set your total right from the check-in screen. Save any photo from a bar story straight to your camera roll.
- Smoother from the first tap. Sign up with Apple, a proper welcome tour for new members, tappable invite links, and a fix for sign-ins that showed an empty app until you signed back in.
- Plus stability and polish fixes throughout.

### 1.3.8 — 2026-06-20

- The Booze Board is here. Every week, you and your friends go head-to-head on a drink leaderboard — Monday to Sunday, most drinks wins. Check the standings anytime from the on the Social tab,
watch the podium, rank-change arrows, and confetti for whoever's on top. Every Monday the tab closes, a champion is crowned, and a fresh week begins.
  - Group check-ins are here. Out with friends? Tag everyone you're with when you check in — once they accept, the check-in lands on their profile too, with full stat credit. Group check-ins show who
was there and turn into a shared photo album you can swipe through right in the feed.
  - Keep a running drink count. Use the − / + counter on the Map to track beers for your current check-in. The count shows on your check-ins for friends to see, and your all-time total appears as
"Beers Drank" in your Stats — right alongside bars, cities, states, and countries.
  - Respond to group invites in a tap. When a friend checks you in, the invite shows up at the top of your notifications and right on their check-in in the Activity tab — accept to join the group, or
  decline.
  - A bolder Bar Signal. Rally your crew by sliding to fire the Bar Signal from the Activity tab — a deliberate swipe so you never set it off by accident.
  - Plus stability and polish fixes throughout.
