I can report the error, or do anything! ### 3/5 — Useful with some tweaks? *2018-05-22, version 3.6.11* Just started using the app and have been getting some useful information. I wish that it could give information about decibel level of barking. All the text is appearing over other text so you can’t read anything. Managed to record a few hours of barking but can’t manage to do anything with that recording. Makes this app worthless. What they don't tell you in the App Store is that in order to gain access to control the mic sensitivity and other vital features you have to pay ANOTHER $10. No threshold option, very limited ability to play a noise in response to a bark. Also silly to limit tone to sonic range, maxing out at 25 kHz ### 4/5 — Saved our sanity! *2017-02-28, version 3.6.7* This app quite literally lowered my family's stress level and saved our sanity! We have a "difficult" neighbor, who has a history of being overly sensitive to normal neighborhood noises, and complaining about every little thing. The previous homeowners were harassed by her, and the moment we moved in, she began complaining to us. We adopted a dog at Christmas time, and within just a couple weeks she contacted us complaining, and notified us that his barking is "disturbing" and she had begun recording him (I assume to file a complaint since she she told us the first time we spoke to her after moving in that she recorded the previous neighbors in order to take them to "litigation"). Due to excessive rains for the first several weeks we had our dog we weren't even able to let him outside for extended periods of time, so I knew her complaints where unfounded, and we've been very careful to check with all our neighbors, look into the laws and not only be respectful neighbors, but have been overly cautious because we knew her history. So we felt we needed to protect ourselves in case she decided to file a complaint. We started by writing down every time our dog barked, and for how long. But that not only became tedious, but incredibly stressful, always feeling like we needed to be "on alert" to record a bark. And that didn't solve the problem of when we weren't home. Thankfully we found this app! It has quite literally lowered our stress level and saved our sanity knowing that we can sit back and enjoy our dog not just listen and be ready to record any barks he may periodically let out. My only complaint would be on my iPad 3 (running the latest iOS) the app periodically either freezes or crashes and I end up losing all or a portion of the recording time I thought it was running. I also would love if we could somehow have the feature of the app to "ignore" a certain sound frequency/pattern, or ONLY recognize a certain pattern as barking from your dog. The app is set up in such a way that my chicken's noises, our voices, and neighbors' dogs show differently with different colors/patterns. We have found that while looking at the app I can recognize those are not our dog barking, the app doesn't make that distinction in real time, thus triggering the recorded verbal warning & praise (and then email alerts to barking detected). At this time the recorded verbal correction seems to be effective for him. But there are several times where it goes off due to other sounds, and he's just laying down doing nothing at the time and jumps up confused why he's receiving a correction. I'm concerned that those recorded corrections will become ineffective if they continue going off when he isn't barking. Thanks again for this app! ### 5/5 — Excellent!!! *2015-06-30, version 1.1.9* Brilliant!.....highly recommended. Listen to what your dogs have been up too while your out. Very sensitive microphone. Absolutely genius app. Just what I was looking for to help train my dogs to be quiet while I am out and find out if the neighbours are over exaggerating. Picks up every single noise and very long recording time. Hope more quality apps like this to follow. Great tool. ### 5/5 — Works great! *2015-04-19, version 1.1.9* I'm using it as a way of training my dog to stop barking. The only thing I wish is for a way to adjust the duration between the app hearing the bark, and my recording of scolding the dog. Right now it waits for 20 seconds of barking before playing the scold, and I think it would work for training better if it waits for just 5 seconds of noise, and then it plays the recoding. ### 5/5 — A few home truths *2015-04-17, version 1.1.9* After complaints from a neighbour ( other neighbours do not have a problem) I discovered this wonderful app. As suspected our dogs only bark when something is going outside of the property. I have my iPad set up outside at the back of the house and we have been able to pick up faint voices at the front of the house, vehicles and other dogs barking in the distance. We have established a bit of a pattern and hopefully we can address some of these issues and keep the neighbours happy ### 5/5 — Bark review *2015-04-05, version 1.1.9* Great app! I recently adopted a rescue dog who suffers from separation anxiety. This app has been the perfect aid accurately recording all of his activity during the day. Of corse a lot of other training needs to take place to beat the anxiety - but I now have confidence leaving him alone knowing he is not disturbing the neighbours! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Wouldn’t detect a dog bark even if it bit it! *2026-05-09, version 3.8.3* What a lazy piece of software development this is, charts all noise in a line graph with nothing to distinguish a bark from a squeaky chair. According to this app, my chair is anxious. This App had one job, and it failed miserably at it, plus the interface is horrible, and it’s not stable. I reluctantly paid money for the app. I started recording my next-door, neighbors, dogs, and quickly realized that basic functionality such as saving the recordings required an in-app purchase. save yourself some money. What annoys me is I wasted $915 buying the iPad to use this app on. It stated the bus that went past wasn’t a happy bus, the school children making noise were excited. This is no more than an ambient recording device that is not doing what it states it does. Thanks bark n mad ### 5/5 — Very very helpful! *2019-06-25, version 3.6.14* We had some feedback from our neighbours that our dog barks during the day whilst we were at work. He was quiet as a mouse when we were home so we wanted to hear it for ourselves. This all works really well. You can hear absolutely everything! It’s very easy to review the recording and the graph. We could see he was barking and ended up walking him more and building him a sandpit for digging. I use an older iPad, but I can still record a full 8 hours easy. Use it every day, to see how changes we've made to our dogs routine affect his barking. Has been invaluable in this respect. The app is pretty easy to use and barely seems to drain the battery at all. Can be a little slow to respond at times but this is probably as I am still using an iPad 2. The app seems to have great support and updates come out regularly. Have recommended it to several friends. We were concerned he might be barking and that this would annoy or worry neighbours. We tried this app for the first time today and it worked perfectly! After an hour in, he started whining and barking a little, enough for the '20 second' criteria to be reached and the prerecorded 'quiet' message to be played. To my amazement listening to the recording afterward, he quietened down, was rewarded with the 'praise' I had recorded, and was quiet for the rest of the time we were out!
