It is so close to being great. Really needs quality of life improvements such as: being able to sort your favorites and custom cocktails; needs a notification method for notes you may enter. Improved modern pantry; a way to ensure uniformity upon entries such as with drop down menus. BarSpoon is a well-designed, easy-to-use app that makes home mixing a breeze. I love being able to store my recipes, add notes, and “heart” my favorites for quick access. To make it even better, I’d love to see: • Search by strength (e.g. low ABV, mocktail, non-alcoholic) • Recipe scaling for adjusting quantities from 1 drink to 2+ These features would add flexibility without complicating the clean interface. My only gripe would be for it to rotate to landscape on the iPad and my favorites to sync between the phone and iPad. It’s got a beautiful look and the content is exceptional. Worth the premium buy for sure. ### 5/5 — The BEST Cocktail App *2025-07-02* I’ve tried all the pay-for-play bar apps and seriously, none of them can compare to the BarSpoon app. I tell all my friends about it and I use it all the time as I have a pretty extensive home bar. It motivates me to make drinks I would have never thought of. If I could suggest one thing though - for the drink recipes that I can make with the ingredients in my bar - please make a “surprise me” selection or a way to filter recipes by base liquor so that way when I feel like having a certain base then I can pull up recipes that I can make using it. Regardless, I don’t use my other app for my cocktail recipes. Thank you for making this app! Upgraded to the premium version. Totally worth it. ### 5/5 — Best I have found *2024-12-29* After trying most every bar app in the store, I settled on this one. After walking through all the features of it, I upgraded to the paid version. I have since filled my virtual cabinet and added a handful of personal favorites of the house. The other thing to consider is the quality of recipes within an app. These all appear to be top quality recipes and with the exception of special syrup liqueurs, it doesn’t specify name brand liquor which is nice. **Developer response:** Thank you very much! ### 5/5 — Add your home inventory and get suggested recipes *2024-11-25* One of the best apps out there where we can add all the ingredients we have at home and it suggests recipes based on it so I paid for the upgrade and then next update (4.5), the whole layout changed and it took a while to understand where that feature went. Please be cognizant that layout changes need a walkthrough at times. It’s hard to keep up, Especially when you want to open the app right when you are planning to play the host for guests and can longer find the right thing. **Developer response:** Hi there, We’re sorry for any confusion caused by our recent redesign. I tried several before and deleted them all. The different categories are fun. I find new cocktails every time I open the app. So fun and educational. ### 4/5 — Good and helpful *2024-09-22* This app’s helped me out a lot with making cocktails from drinks I’ve heard of to drinks I never knew existed, the reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because there’s some recipes that you have to do a 1 time membership fee to get when you can just look up those certain cocktail recipes online so it doesn’t make any sense to restrict those recipes from the people when we’re gonna fine out eventually, but it’s still a good and helpful app **Developer response:** Thank you for your review. That is fraud. ### 1/5 — A mess *2023-06-09, version 2.7* This app is so full of errors it is not worth using. I have made suggestions, they were acknowledged, and nothing changes. Pictures of saved cocktails are clearly wrong. Drinks have recipes of other drinks, that is, they are mislabeled. I did a lot of work setting up all my recipes and I think it was a waste of time. While reading recipes it crashed/quit out of the blue. ### 2/5 — Unresponsive in app keyboard *2025-05-20* Heard so many good things about this app, and was left thoroughly disappointed with the laggy unresponsive keyboard typing. We’ve never encountered any keyboard problems with anyone before. ### 2/5 — Ugh so close *2025-03-20* After trying almost every cocktail app on the App Store, I thought I finally found the one. Aesthetic, organized, almost perfect. The dealbreaker is sharing the recipe with others. When you share link it forces recipients to open the app if they have it. Or download the app if they don’t. If they’re opening the link on desktop they are totally out of luck. Impossible. There’s not even a PDF option. I just want to share my creations with my friends. Developers: if you fix this you’ll get 4 stars from me. Add a web based version for editing and a cloud backup, and you’ll get 5 stars and a subscription! **Developer response:** Hello YoungBeej, and thank you for your review. First, the BarSpoon app is designed as a mobile-based application, with the core idea being that you can have all your cocktail recipes conveniently in your pocket. In today’s mobile world, it’s much easier to access everything from your phone. Second, many of the recipes in the app are paid content, so creating a desktop or PDF version would go against the app’s purpose by making everything freely available, which is not our model. If you prefer free recipes, you can always search for cocktails online. Third, you mentioned that you’d like to share your personal recipes with friends and would consider subscribing if we changed our approach. However, the only way to share personal recipes within the app is through a subscription, which it appears you don’t currently have. As a small development team, negative reviews make it harder for us to continue improving the app, but we appreciate your feedback.
