However it’s difficult to make a report. It takes forever to enter the info quickly. I wish i could just enter the car number and write the report. ### 2/5 — Works sporadically *2026-02-18, version 4.0.0* 1-expecation to take a photograph of troublemakers is ridiculous. 2-as with SFPD expected to answer 1000 descriptive questions about the type of moustache perp has. 3-all it should take is a location and just go down there/enter the car and you’ll see what we’re all seeing. Please provide us with the color and manufacturer of his shoes. Please tell us the suspect’s mother’s maiden name. Please tell us if he’s wearing a belt and what material…” “He has now started a fire and appears to have chopped off someone’s arm. Please send help!” “Thank you for your report. In order to respond, we will need further suspect description. Is the baseball cap an adjustable size cap or a fitted cap? How many nose hairs are visible from each nostril…?” Unfortunately this is similar to the kind of the experience I’ve had with BART police. I once exited a car to immediately encounter two officers. I told them that I had just seen a man with a concealed handgun on the car 15 feet behind me, and that he was still there and I could show them. They proceeded to lecture me on how open carry was legal. It was not and is not. Further, the handgun was was concealed. In the meantime while they were lecturing me, the train doors closed and the train left with the armed man inside. No pay no ride ### 1/5 — No point *2023-06-26, version 3.2.0* When there is not enough officers there is no point for reporting 😡 ### 2/5 — nice idea. impact on my bart experience = 0 *2023-06-12, version 3.2.0* i've submitted numerous incident reports, ranging from nuisances to dangerous situations, and the results have been risible. as an example, one report involved someone cooking drugs over an open fire in a moving bart train. i was asked to specify the height, weight, race, attire, and possibly favorite music group of the individual. i guess it was important to make sure they got the CORRECT individual cooking drugs over an open fire on that particular train. in another instance i requested a wellness check for an individual i described as "semi-naked, barely conscious, occasionally mumbling deliriously, and drooling". i was asked for more specific information about the individual - presumably my description was not enough to differentiate him from the other dozen or so people in the same car? i think this app is just another way for bart to claim they care about safety or the customer experience without actually doing anything in response to the reports. ### 1/5 — Chaos *2023-05-26, version 3.1.1* How many times do customers have to deal with BART’s management of trains during emergency track maintenance or police action? Train destination changes after boarding, trains switch directions at last moment, trains reverse direction after one or two stations. Nobody knows what’s happening or where they will end up after getting on a train. This happens too frequently. Announcements are barely audible. And, this BART Alert app is silent! We need better and safer service. ### 3/5 — location data integration not good *2023-04-23, version 3.1.1* the app should know what train i am on from my location data. having to enter it takes time which might be important in an emergency ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — BART Police App *2024-08-16, version 4.0.0* I ride BART regularly and report issues via the app when they rise to a level of potential harm to the safety of the rides. Whenever I submit a report, I try to be specific as possible to assist BART Police. However, I always get a reply asking me to describe the gender, clothing, height, weight and race of the perp. My most recent report described the perp as “him”, gave the color of his clothing and his location within the car but I was asked about gender and clothing. I recommend that you make it a priority to get an officer on the train, rather than a back and forth of texts, requesting more info, when BART clearly has enough. Would you have me go interview the perp, asking him for his full name, DOB and SSN? ### 1/5 — Works horrible in tunnel and tube *2024-05-09, version 4.0.0* There needs to be some sort of deal to treat reports with high priority data like a 911 call. As a paying traveler this is not what I want to deal with when riding bart. People hop over the gate for free and proceed to literally light up inside the moving trains… every day… right under the camera. If you’re lucky they’ll even smoke some crack right next to you and complete a drug deal. I’ll give them credit, they know they won’t get caught, so why not. ### 1/5 — Does anyone read these reports? *2023-10-16, version 3.2.0* I’ve been hauled off a train by BART police for carrying a tank for frozen semen, sitting there quietly and behaving myself. People smoking (cigs and all manner of drugs), today a dude blocking the aisle and antagonizing passengers? Nada. This is why I hate BART. This is why I want to drive every day. ### 1/5 — Poor Responses from whoever answers *2023-09-18, version 3.2.0* After reporting an incident where a man was smoking and drinking in a wagon, and everyone in the cart was feeling uncomfortable… the person who was responding to my incident end up asking me to call the police… I found this app pointless. ### 1/5 — No longer reliable *2023-08-01, version 3.2.0* The app still seems to report issues, but now there is nothing but automated responses, and no officers showing up on the train. Bart response times are so slow the issue normally resolves itself before Bart bothers to respond. BART staff showed up within 5 minutes in all cases. Two violators got tickets. The third got a warning. In one case they made a radio announcement to get the person to stop playing loud music on their phone. This app is indispensable for any BART rider.
