## What is Basalt Lab?

Every set you grind out deserves to be counted.
Basalt Lab is the data discipline of a spreadsheet, built into native iOS: you train, the app keeps score, and your progress becomes visible, session after session.

Two modes, depending on how you train:
• Manual: log a set in 2 taps and get back under the bar. The rest timer is there when you want it.
• Lab (Pro): validate with a swipe and the rest rolls into the next set. Your phone fades into the background.

YOUR SESSION, WITHOUT FRICTION
• Your previous session replayed set by set (Pro): you know exactly what to beat today, and today's load wins when it's heavier.
• Apple Watch: log from your wrist with the Digital Crown, phone stays in the bag.
• Live Activities + Dynamic Island: your rest and your next set stay in sight on the Lock Screen, in both modes.
• 370+ exercises, supersets (Pro), swap an exercise mid-session.
• 52 ready-made workouts, ready to start (12 free): you pick, the app runs it.

PROOF YOU'RE MOVING
• 48 statistics (14 included, +34 with Pro) built around the only question that matters: are you actually progressing?
• Plateau detection: know it's stalling before you lose weeks to it.
• Your 1RM projected at 3 and 6 months: see where you're headed, not just where you've been.
• Push/Pull ratios, strength radar, an overtraining alert when your volume runs past your average.
• Regularity heatmap, streaks and trophies: your consistency finally shows.
• Your session heart rate (Apple Watch): the curve on your recap, your average, your max and your recovery.
• Add past sessions to your calendar (Pro): your history stays complete, even when life gets in the way.
• A session recap you can share as an image, when you have something to show.

WHO IT'S FOR
For serious lifters who want to progress without noise. No imposed coach, no childish badges, no social feed: nobody to impress, just you and your numbers.

FREE VS PRO
Free: unlimited workout journal, 14 statistics over the last 4 weeks, 3 custom sessions and 5 custom exercises, Manual mode, Watch, Live Activities, widget, trophies.
Pro (7-day trial, annual plan only): Lab mode, set-by-set prefill, supersets and session comparison, past sessions, unlimited customization, unlimited stats history, +34 advanced statistics and the strength radar.

THE METHOD, DOCUMENTED
The average lifter who tracks their progress does better than 66% of those who don't (Harkin et al., 2016). Same program, app-guided: the sessions get done. Alone, one in two gets skipped (Gavanda et al., 2025). Studies on the methods: not on the app itself.

YOUR DATA, YOURS
No ad trackers. The app works fully offline: your history lives on your device and belongs to you. Backups hosted in the EU (Paris).

You rack the phone, you grab the bar. We keep count.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-11

This update brings two big pieces: ready-made workouts and your heart rate.

• Ready-made workouts: 52 workouts ready to start, with a preview, the run-through and the muscle split. Pick one, start it.
• Heart rate: your heart-rate curve on the recap and in the session detail, average and maximum from your wrist, and three new readings in Bio-rhythms.
• Bug fixes and performance improvements.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-01

A fixes pass over launch and logging.

• Launch: the app opens faster and without hitches.
• Rest timer: it always restarts from the right moment.
• "Last time": the suggested weight is the right one, on iPhone and Apple Watch alike.
• Adding exercises: the list is smoother during a workout.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-08-29

This update is a reliability pass over everything you use every week.

• Workouts: the session you tap is the one that starts, timers no longer drift, and the audio countdown kicks in from the first exercise.
• Loads: enter weight per side or as a total on unilateral exercises, and your history finally respects which side you logged.
• Apple Watch: steadier state, "Last time" shown during rest, swipes matched to the iPhone, and a proper rest period between exercises.
• Exercise page: history reads set by set, with the right unit and the right records.
• Pounds (lbs): entry, charts, trophies and the widget finally speak the same unit — and the app starts in your region's.
• Notifications: all gathered on a single page, and the daily reminder names your session.
• A launch screen when the app opens.
