My company is a huge user and it works well for us. But they recently gave the UI a complete redesign. Since then I have seen company usage completely drop off. Why? The new UI makes sense on paper, but is completely impractical in the real world. It’s too different, nobody knows where anything is or how to get to it. In a word, it sucks. Where’s my stuff, how do I get to it, where is the home button? (Oh sometimes its not there, it’s a feature) ### 2/5 — why dont the important functions work???? *2026-08-10, version 5.0.14* we use this primarily as a team communications platform, why dont all messages in a chat give notifications???? they are constantly updating and adding new features but this basic function has never been fixed??? yes i have notifications set to all, but still only one message in a chat a day notifies and if anymore are sent in the day someone has to text for people to go check, completely defeating the point of the app for our team?????? ### 2/5 — Why this calendar? *2026-07-16, version 5.0.12* I absolutely hate the way the calendar is formatted. Everything has become messy, disorganized, and incredibly hard to navigate. Please bring back the old layout, or at least give us the option to toggle it back. Not everybody can afford/wants newer phones. It’s not a high resource app. Please add support for older devices. It’s hard to navigate, the auto correct is non existent so you have to manually capitalize letters which doesn’t sound like a big deal but is tedious and something that wasn’t an issue before. I hate everything about this and if I was not forced to use this for work I would never touch it again. A random number of projects shows up - not ones you’ve selected or just the top 10. There is NO PLACE to scroll through a full list of projects anymore to find the one you need. Instead, you have to know the name of the project (that your teammate made, if they made one) and search it. Absolutely awful if you’re using this as team project management. ### 1/5 — Horrible update to 5.0 *2026-06-01, version 5.0.6* This update and redesign is horrendous and now you spend more time clicking through to find what you need. Time to go back to Dropbox. Don’t waste your money. I’ve asked my managers to choose a different one multiple times bc of all the important messages I miss!! They only send some notifications not all. The new update is kinda hard to navigate too. It was a little difficult before the update too so I don’t know how they think this new update makes things easier for their users. The application has become less intuitive and harder to navigate, and update summaries are now difficult to find. The new design feels outdated and less polished than before. When using speak to text, it absolutely does not accept all the input that is spoken. Painfully slow and freezes the app while search starts after typing first search letter. The Mac desktop app is now SO slow that I’m just using the browser interface. The iPad app doesn’t even open but doesn’t tell me it can’t run on my 5-year old iPad. The iPhone version is working, but I don’t like the GUI changes! Can I please go back to Basecamp 4 or Basecamp 2, please? Broke other things and claimed the new interface is better and more intuitive. It is not. I used to love Basecamp. Now I’m trying to use it for some projects and it’s just not working. I created two projects on my Mac and added some tools to one. But I only see one project on my iPhone app and none of the tool I added like message board and files. I have one other person on the projects and she can see them all on her android. I don’t care. I will never care. I use this app to communicate. I only want to be notified when someone communicates with me. Aber auch alles andere was zu organisieren ist. Kundenanfragen an Berater geben. Leitungsteam organisieren mit immer aktuellen Protokollen nach Themen sortiert. Die Nachricht zwischendurch. Lieferscheine durchreichen mit Bildern defekter Lieferungen. Alle Mitarbeiter über alles mögliche informieren. Auf dem Bau eine Bestellung auf Papier schreiben, in Basecamp fotografieren und absenden - und jeder Projektbeteiligte, der Einkauf, der Projektleiter, …, wissen Bescheid. Einfach genial!!! Wir haben Teams für Büro, Techniker, Monteure, Azubis, … und können diese Gruppen gezielt informieren. Alles was man anlegt kann kommentiert werden und so - auch wenn man nicht zusammensitzt - weiter bearbeitet werden. Basecamp ist ein so mächtiges Tool. Es hat uns in unserem täglichen Tun so sehr weitergebracht und macht das jeden Tag. Basecamp ist offen und konfigurierbar für alles was man organisieren will. Zwischen „Bring mir ´nen Kaffe mit“ und der Unternehmensentwicklung geht wirklich alles. Nein, wenn man bei der Suche nach einem Tool mit tausend Features sucht, wird man enttäuscht sein. Aber diese Einfachheit ist gerade die Stärke von Basecamp. Ich gucke immer mal, was es sonst am Markt so gibt, und denke jedes Mal: Wie gut dass ich auf Basecamp gesetzt habe. Auch wird es ständig weiter entwickelt und geht mit der Zeit. Wer also kleinste, mittlere oder große Teams und Firmen zu organisieren hat, ist mit Basecamp gut beraten. This is by far the easiest, most powerful, and intuitive way to communicate digitally. It exceeds the capability of MS Teams and other platforms.
