### 2/5 — NOT Bash for your iOS device

*2021-12-10, version 13.0*

This app lets you run a Bash script, yeah, though not on your iOS device but on a remote computer.

So if you want to learn basic Bash to run on other computers okay, but if you want Bash to explore your iPhone or iPad, this is not it.

The developer really should make that clear, but AFAICT they do not.

### 2/5 — Non useful preview of functionality

*2019-12-14, version 13.0*

Doesn't let you even run a script once without paying. Five free runs minimum (10 or 20 would be better) would be reasonable.

Offering a "free" app that does nothing unless you pay is, I'm sorry to say, deceptive.

Loosen up a bit, developer. I appreciate that a ton of work goes into app development. But I'd rather be asked to pay to download at all or be given a chance to try the app's functionality within reason before paying.

[EDIT: it runs interpretation through a remote server--so it can't be used offline, and isn't really an emulator? No.]

### 1/5 — Slimy all around

*2019-09-01, version 12.0*

You have 1 (ONE) free compilation, which I assume the average person will use immediately upon opening the app to run the sample script, and he will only discover later that he has 0 left. This is what happened to me. Furthermore, this is not a bash interpreter. There’s no shell, it’s a text editor that can send your script to a server that has a bash runner. This is evidenced by the fact that it needs internet to run. Very slimy.

Edit: more things. I see that another reviewer had the same experience about the trial. The dev responded, “just buy unlimited compilations.” Well dimitry, just mark the app as $2.99 like it actually is!!

### 2/5 — Why do I need to pay to run my program?!

*2018-11-01*

Seriously, I think it’s better to hack my device and dual boot Linux on it instead.

### 1/5 — Terrible junk app

*2018-09-26, version 11.1*

I got this app and the example script worked. Therefore, I thought that this app actually worked and that it was really good. After I bought the $2.99 subscription and edited the script, the script wouldn’t compile and run. The output stated that I needed to check my internet connection but there was NOTHING wrong with my internet connection! My program would NOT compile and it would NOT run. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP!!! IT IS A TOTAL SCAM!

### 1/5 — Only one run then done

*2018-04-19*

Don’t install you only get one compile free

Dev: why charge on compile? Should charge for bash lessons / course instead. Could be a great tool for people to get into bash

### 1/5 — A bit useless

*2017-12-01, version 11.1*

Allowing for one 1 “compilation” isn’t enough to evaluate. 5 or 10 would be more reasonable. I’m not paying to evaluate a product properly.

Or, save your money and download a free ssh client and sign up for a free amazon AWS account and use your own EC2 instance.

### 1/5 — Not actually free and requires internet to compile

*2017-07-23, version 9.4*

The app isn't actually free. You get ONE free compilation and then you have to pay. If you don't pay, the app is basically just a text editor. 1 star because this is just deceitful practices. I'll stick to sshing into a Linux machine and using that for any development work.

**Developer response:** Unfortunately, we can't offer free compilations.

### 1/5 — DO NOT PAY FOR THIS APP

*2016-11-09, version 9.4*

Absolutely horrible app, I'm attempting to get my money back.

### 1/5 — not really free

*2016-10-29, version 9.4*

you have to pay to use this "free" app

### 1/5 — Don't waste your money and time!

*2016-10-13, version 9.4*

This app is garbage!

### 1/5 — Rip off

*2016-07-23, version 9.4*

Masquerades as free, then charges $1 to actually do anything.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2023-09-20*

This is one of the worst apps I have ever used. First of all, it seems free but then it makes you pay for 100 compilations. Also it runs on some random server and not even locally.

### 1/5 — Total waiste

*2022-12-07, version 13.0*

The app does not work.
Any command execution takes about 5 sec and always displaying ‘prog.sh’.
Removing from iPad.

### 1/5 — I’d give it a zero star if I could.

*2022-03-09*

You cannot try it unless you pay for compilations or what ever they are calling them.
This is not a free app. It is a hiding in the weeds to get you when your back is turned type of app.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2021-11-21*

Asking for money to use software should be in subscription based software not free…

### 1/5 — Seems to be Broken

*2021-08-27*

When ever i try to run something in errors in the output: insufficient compilations, get more in the settings tab. What does this mean?, the settings tab just displays a white box with the number 100 written in it and nothing else.

### 1/5 — Seems Like A Come On

*2021-03-14, version 13.0*

This lets you run a BASH script, once, and then you have to pay $2.99. There’s no way to even begin to see what it can do, because it’s a one trick pony, until you pay up. Perhaps it’s ok for testing shell scripts, but there doesn’t seem to be any real BASH capabilities, from what I can tell. It’s just a way to run some scripts, but without access to anything except a script editor and a “compiler”, there’s not much use in having it.

### 1/5 — Extremely restricted

*2020-03-15*

Don't bother to download this. It won't let you do anything until you pay which makes it impossible to evaluate. How am I supposed to know what i'm paying for with such restrictions imposed. It could be totally fake for all I know. I don't trust it at all. I get a bad vibe from it. I mean, why else wouldn't they let you evaluate the software for much longer unless they're hiding somehing.

### 1/5 — Insufficient compilations

*2020-03-04*

Started asking for money before I’d even run one command, insufficient compilations to do anything at all without paying.

### 1/5 — Not actually free

*2019-09-13, version 12.0*

Claims to be a free app, but you have to pay for compilations. You get ONE compilation, who most will use to run the default script. Make it a 2.99 app, and get unlimited compilations

### 1/5 — It’s not free at all.

*2019-09-04, version 12.0*

Not even a little bit. It’s $3. Free to install but $3 if you want to use it.

The bait and switch turned me off to this app completely.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Worth the 3 dollars

*2018-07-03, version 11.1*

It is great for testing out any scripts you are working on this is amazing I have been looking for an app like this for ever thank you I us Python2IDE and Linux it’s great for using your scripts don’t worry about the money Its surprising that you get a great app like this for such a low price so I’m I’m saying is this is a must get for any script writer web developer just someone who enjoys tinkering with web programming

### 5/5 — Perfect!

*2018-02-18, version 11.1*

I don’t understand the negative comments at all! The developer could have easily asked $4.99 on the AppStore and I would have gladly paid for the reference alone (I’m learning).
This app works perfectly for me and more.

### 5/5 — This app is the best guide (s) for Bash in existence

*2017-08-24, version 9.4*

It's one where I refer to my iOS device with this app before I dig around on the web or search my Mac.

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2014-05-03, version 4.3*

I am writing a compiler that targets many languages and this app is ideal for my purposes. Keep up the good work!

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2013-12-04, version 4.3*

A great tool to have!! Helps keeping fresh with Bash

### 4/5 — Adequate

*2017-02-18, version 9.4*

My online complain is that you have to be online to compile.

### 3/5 — So far, good app, a couple suggestions

*2019-04-26, version 12.0*

The app is all around good, though, I would like to be able to test the build/compile feature before I commit money to the app. I understand the dev needs money to support the app, but, it is difficult for me to put money into something that may not work for me. Second, the app needs cloud support, allow me to store my files in the cloud, and access them across devices. Don’t always have my tablet on me, and it would be useful to access my scripts from my phone.

### 3/5 — I’d love to give real feedback

*2019-04-05, version 12.0*

I use vscode to write bash scripts and had an idea for one so I searched the App Store and saw this , it looks like a passable editor with highlight which is cool , but I really can’t give any more feedback as the app doesn’t really let you try full functionality ? Maybe give people a few freebies ? Or maybe put ads and make the “unlimited compiles an option ? People are way less likely to buy something they can’t put through its paces or twice in.

I work in cars sales , butts on seats and feet on pedals , sell metal.

### 3/5 — The developer is entitled to make a little money

*2018-08-21, version 11.1*

Dmitri is entitled to some compensation for all of the hard work and hours he put into this so called free app. I agree that he needs to give 5-10 free compilations, if only to get the customer hooked on using it otherwise people walk away. This is a good learning tool and I came here to test out some concepts while commuting to the office. But if I don’t get any value first, I’m not forking over any money to find out later if I will be “nickeled and dimed” or not.

### 3/5 — Good, but limited

*2017-09-03*

This is a nice app as far as it goes. But it is limited by an inability to emulate the reading and writing of files, central to most bash scripting. Nor does it provide for the manipulation of command line arguments.
