## What is Bat & Box?

A box score is the most beautiful thing in sports. Nine innings across the top, a column of names down the side, and a whole afternoon compressed into a grid you can read in ten seconds.

Bat & Box is every one of them, back to 1897.

Pick a date — the day you were born, the game your dad still talks about, last night's ninth inning, and read that day the way the morning paper set it: both lineups, every at-bat, every pitching line, the umpires who worked it, the ballpark, the attendance, the time of game.

Every name is a door. Tap a player for that season, tap again for the whole career, year by year. Tap a club for its year, the standings, the roster, every result in order, and October if they got there.

No feed. No ads. No account. No notifications. Pick a team and the app wears its colors, and your club's game sits at the top of the day. The type is set for columns of small numbers, because that is what a box score is.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-20

The record book. A medal in the masthead opens the leaders: any season you pick, the best single seasons anyone ever had, and career totals. Every name on every list is a door.

Ballparks have pages. Tap the park on a box score for who played there, the first game and the last, the biggest crowds, and, where a member has written one, SABR's history of the place.

SABR's biographies and game stories, linked from the players and games they are about, with the author's name on them.

Playoff odds on a club's season, day by day as they stood that morning, back to 1969, reaching 100% the day the club clinched and 0% the day it was eliminated.

Pitchers get a career chart. A career of a season or three is drawn a game at a time instead: one square per game, and touching one takes you to the box score.
