### 4/5 — Not bad

*2023-07-13*

Cool game, runs pretty smooth. Would be cool to have virtual joystick controls as the accelerometer ones are very clunky.

### 4/5 — Not bad

*2014-06-02, version 1.9*

This is a cool game i really like it :D

### 4/5 — Really cool

*2014-05-16, version 1.9*

This game is an awesome giant monster simulator. The only complaint I have is that the controls are a bit wonky, but once you get used to it, destroying a city is an excellent time waster.

### 4/5 — Good

*2011-09-19, version 1.8*

Needs better controls but fun

### 4/5 — Great but...

*2011-04-27, version 1.8*

Make a d pad, the controls arent the best, after awhile you get used to it but screw trying to dodge youre gonna get hit. Tilting doesnt always respond for some reason, directional arrows please

### 4/5 — Great remake

*2010-09-28*

Simple, free, fun, silly, nice app dude!!

### 4/5 — Love the monsters!

*2010-05-05, version 0*

I played this game back when it first came out, so it's awesome that it's available now on the iPhone and iPad. There are two different control schemes and neither one is ideal in my opinion, but I always had trouble with the controls in the original game. You can tilt to move and tap the screen to fire or you can use a more sophisticated gesture control method for both moving and firing. I can't figure out how to aim when using the tilt controls and in general the monsters always feel like your driving a RC car with a partially busted remote control, but the zany fat bit pixel style monsters destroying a city keeps it's charm enough to earn four stars in my book. This is honestly one of the last games I thought I would see in the app store.

### 4/5 — An old, obscure favorite

*2009-11-08, version 0*

Still great, though the lack of the map irks me a bit. The help screen seems to mention a settings screen, but I can't find it. Also, this would be helped by the option to invert your monster's head movements.

I still don't understand why The Vapor takes damage from shrapnel, seeing ad it has to stand right on top of a building to destroy it.

### 4/5 — almost almost!!!

*2009-05-18, version 0*

great 3d retro graphic... soooo classic!!! thanks for adding the "how to control" page... now it's really fun to play... only add hide the side bar function and it'll be perfect!!!

### 4/5 — Fun

*2009-05-09, version 0*

Old school game, lot of fun...

### 4/5 — Hmmmm

*2009-05-07, version 0*

Needs accelerometer control, it's hard to control it the way it is.

### 5/5 — It Needs an Accelerometer

*2009-05-07, version 0*

Great App but, it needs an Accelerometer selection in the options to make the controls easier. It is like Godzilla, Rampage, and War of The Monsters (PS2). Online or Splitscreen would be Great also. :)

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Awful Controls

*2016-10-17, version 1.9.1*

The controls are terrible. There is no way to go forwards. You need to have some kind of virtual button system. Otherwise, this game is unplayable garbage.

### 1/5 — Crap

*2013-06-12, version 1.8.1*

Crap absolutely crap 1star is too good for this crap

### 1/5 — There is no menu button

*2011-05-09, version 1.8*

Horrible 

### 2/5 — boatbutter's review

*2016-02-12, version 1.9*

Always loved the game, but I wish the controls worked. Had better luck with it on the iPad.

### 2/5 — Fix

*2014-05-30, version 1.9*

I would give it a five star but I can't move forward. Also turning of tilt to move does not change your controls. 🐊🏢🏥🏦

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2012-10-21, version 1.8.1*

I had this game back on my old Motorola Q, and it was a fantastic game. I was hoping to be able to play this and have a little nostalgia. However due to awful controls I can not enjoy this game. Please fix it, I would be the first to change my review to something more positive.

### 2/5 — Controls?

*2009-05-06, version 0*

Thing just goes in circles. Crap!

### 3/5 — Awesome old school action

*2011-02-22, version 1.7*

I discovered this game out of the blue and became quite satisfied with myself. :)
It has the framework for an incredible hit but the bugs get in the way of anything inspiring happening. A bit more effort put into this and it would easily be top ten worthy. I'm glad to have found another game for my stash of random wonderful free finds!

### 3/5 — How do you move forward?

*2010-12-01, version 0*

How do you move forward, I tilted my iPad forward and it wouldn't
Move forward, I can only move backward.

### 3/5 — Final Filosophy

*2009-05-06, version 0*

Addicting, but definitely needs better controls!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — AWESOME

*2013-05-25, version 1.8.1*

Normally I hate iPhone games but this one is awesome. The game play is great. I love the different monsters you can play as. It reminds me of Godzilla unleashed and Godzilla destroy all monsters melee. I don't have Godzilla unleashed anymore and one of the wires for my GameCube broke so I can't play destroy all monsters either. So this game is great as a replacement.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2011-10-17, version 1.8*

I always loved Godzilla, and other kaiju movies, Flutters my favorite monster from the game( because my favorite from the movies was Mothra)

### 5/5 — WOW

*2011-08-22, version 1.8*

Well it is a great app I do feel a few improvements could be made it is still awesome!

### 5/5 — Hey!

*2010-07-05, version 0*

I love these sorts of games! Awesome! It reminds me of the games from when I was little, when computers when battleship grey and stuck two feet out behind... Ahhh...

Anyway, I can't seem to find the settings menu, and also, I'd like to be able to hide the sidebar.

### 5/5 — AwEsOmE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*2010-06-04, version 0*

LoVe the GaMe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agot such a high score however,(when playing as flutter) that the game FrOzE and took me back to the MeNu (I know it froze because my laser worked but I couldn't move then the laser stoped working and I just suddenly appeared on the menu).

### 5/5 — :o

*2010-02-21, version 0*

This game is actually FREE! This is one of the best games on my ipod touch!

### 5/5 — Classic

*2009-11-03, version 0*

The best free game for the iPod Andrew Johnson has made some amazing apps but I would like an option for the game to have invincibility for just exploring. A truly impressive app, thank you!

### 5/5 — Allright

*2009-08-11*

Is pretty good if u like blowing stuff up but needs better controls!

### 5/5 — Destruction

*2009-06-13, version 0*

Giant monsters!

I like it. The graphics and sound (actually Googelon's screech is pretty cool) of this game aren't what you would call spectacular. But collectively, battalion does bring a special kind of creative and humorous fun.

Updated for 1.6.3, the tilt controls and game speed are much better. It's not the best thing since sliced bread, but it is pretty neat. For free, 5/5!

### 5/5 — Its a fun one-of-a-kind app

*2009-05-10, version 0*

Excellent game, highly recommended, but its not without flaws. One reason why my old classic OS9 Mac is still plugged in is so I can play games like Battalion. I've been a fan of this game for years. It was a great surprise to find Battalion for the iPhone, but what happened to the old cute music loop. If you like giant monster movies, you'll get a kick out of the game. Its a simple game, but its fun. Here's one suggestion to the developer: its hard to control the movements of the monsters. Adding tilt controls will help the gameplay. The graphics are cool, but more monsters, expanded cityscapes and new challenges would be nice. I'd pay money if you upgraded those features.
