## What is Batter?

Tap a batter. Their song plays. That is the whole idea.

Walkup Music is a walk-up song board built for youth baseball and softball — the kind of team where the batting order changes every inning and nobody has time to fumble through a music app between at-bats.

HOW IT WORKS
• Add your players with names and jersey numbers
• Give each one a song, a start time, and how long to play
• Drag to reorder the lineup as it changes
• Tap the player at the plate and their clip plays

BUILT FOR THE FIELD
Ballfields have bad signal. Walkup Music is built around that:
• Audio files stored on your phone play with no signal at all
• Apple Music songs you have downloaded in the Apple Music app also play offline
• The app warns you when a song would need a signal, while there is still time to fix it
• The screen stays awake, so you are not unlocking your phone between batters

SET THE CLIP, NOT THE SONG
Nobody wants thirty seconds of intro. Set the start time to the exact moment — 1:12, right on the drop — and choose how long to play. Nudge it a tenth of a second at a time until it lands where you want.

MORE THAN ONE TEAM
Coaching two teams? Keep separate lineups, each with its own name and colours, and switch between them with a tap.

SHARE THE LINEUP
Send the batting order as a text message. Another coach can import it straight into their own copy.

ABOUT APPLE MUSIC
Playing songs from your Apple Music library requires an active Apple Music subscription. That is an Apple platform requirement, not something the app can work around. Without a subscription you can still use everything else by importing your own audio files from Files, iCloud Drive, or Google Drive.

Apple Music tracks also need to be downloaded in the Apple Music app to play without a signal. Walkup Music shows you which of your songs are downloaded, so you find out at home rather than at the plate.

NO ACCOUNTS, NO TRACKING
No sign-up, no ads, no analytics, no data leaving your phone. Your lineup is yours.

### 5/5 — Solid app that does exactly what you need

*2026-09-04*

This app handles baseball and softball walk-up music perfectly. The interface is user-friendly, and setup and editing are both very straightforward. It pulls directly from downloaded Apple Music or other audio files on your phone, and there’s zero delay when you hit play. The most helpful feature is being able to share songs and specific timestamps with other people—it makes things much easier if you have multiple people taking turns running the music during games. Highly recommend if you just want something reliable that works.

## Frequently asked questions about Batter

### How does Batter-Up work?

Batter-Up allows you to assign specific song clips to each player on your youth baseball or softball team. When a player comes up to bat, you simply tap their name, and their designated song clip will play.

### How do I set the song clip in Batter-Up?

You can precisely set the start time and duration for each song clip, down to a tenth of a second. This ensures that only the desired part of the song plays, avoiding long intros.

SHARE A TEAM WITH ANOTHER COACH
Tap Share, then Show QR Code, and the other coach scans it with their iPhone's Camera app. No signal needed — handy at the field. You can also send a team as a file by email or AirDrop and tap it to open. Names, numbers, timing and colours all come across, and sending the same team again updates their copy instead of making a duplicate.

SONGS COME ACROSS TOO
Shared teams and pasted lineups now bring their songs. Each one is matched to the same song in the other coach's Apple Music library, so most of the lineup is ready to play straight away. Songs that aren't in their library, and audio files you imported yourself, still need picking on their phone.

HOME RUN!
A new Home Run button plays a celebration sound over everything else. Tap it again to stop.

KNOW WHICH SONGS NEED SIGNAL
Settings → Check Songs for Game Day lists any Apple Music songs that aren't in your library and won't play without signal, and marks those players NEEDS SIGNAL. It can't tell when a song is in your library but not yet downloaded — Apple Music's Downloaded list shows exactly what will play offline.

FIXES
• Fixed a bug where a batter could get the previous batter's song
• Playlist songs that aren't in your library now play when you have signal
• If a song can't play, the app now tells you why instead of playing the wrong one

### 1.1 — 2026-09-05

MORE THAN ONE TEAM
Coaching two teams? Each one keeps its own lineup, name and colours, and tabs appear under the team name so you can switch between them with a tap.

KNOW WHO IS UP
The next batter in the order is marked while the current song is still playing, so you can see where you are without keeping track.

SET THE CLIP IN MINUTES AND SECONDS
Start times now read as 1:30 rather than 90. Type either — both still work.

CLIPS FADE OUT
Songs you import now fade over their last second and a half instead of cutting dead. (Apple Music songs stop abruptly. Apple does not let apps control the volume of its player.)

FIX YOUR TYPOS
Player names and numbers can be edited after you add them. Previously a typo meant deleting the player and starting over, song and timings included.

BENCHED PLAYERS MOVE DOWN
Benching a player drops them to the bottom, so the batting order stays together at the top.

BROWSE YOUR PLAYLISTS
Pick a song by opening a playlist instead of typing a name, or search your whole library. Songs added in Apple Music show up after tapping Refresh.

A FRESH LOOK
New icon, cleaner cards and buttons, and proper icons throughout.

FIXES
• Songs from playlists that were not added to your library individually now play
• Picking a file from Google Drive, iCloud or Files works properly
• Imported songs are stored so they cannot be removed by iOS later
• Clips stop at the length you set — they previously played on
• Searching covers your whole library, not just the first 100 songs
• The keyboard no longer covers the row you are editing
• Long team names shrink to fit instead of being cut off
• The screen stays awake during a game
