## What is BatterUp Scorebook?

You're scoring from the dugout while your own kid is at bat. BatterUp Scorebook is built for that moment, by a coach who's been there.

BatterUp Scorebook is a live game scorebook for assistant and head coaches of youth baseball and softball rec teams. Speed and forgiveness beat completeness. Common at-bat outcomes take two taps. Common base advances take one. There's a big visible undo, always available, with no "are you sure?" prompts to slow you down mid-play.

Every design choice is for the dugout: glove-friendly tap targets, sunlight-readable contrast, dark mode for evening games at lit fields, and a continuous batting order so every kid bats every inning regardless of defensive subs.

What it does:
• Live at-bat scoring with two-tap outcomes (Single, Double, Triple, HR, BB, K, groundout, flyout, ROE, FC, HBP, SF)
• Continuous batting order, the rec-league default
• Free defensive substitution: any player, any position, any inning
• Stolen bases, passed balls, wild pitches, errors. One tap on the runner
• Big undo for everything during live play
• Game recap shared by text or email when the last out is recorded
• Stored locally on your phone. No account needed, no data leaves your device

What it's NOT:
BatterUp Scorebook is not a fantasy-baseball stats engine. It doesn't rank kids, run leaderboards, or push social features. There are no achievements, no notifications begging you to come back, no signup wall, no analytics. Just a clean record of the game. Scored fast, shared simply.

Made by a volunteer coach, for volunteer coaches. The tools we needed didn't exist, so we built them.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.1 — 2026-06-28

Track the other team without leaving live scoring.

New
Add opponent batters before or during a game.
Score opponent at-bats with the same count, diamond, runners, and undo flow.
See opponent stat lines separately in the game recap.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-06-16

Now BatterUp plays by your league's run rules.

  New
  - See the runs scored this inning against your league's cap, right below the score.
  - Switch the per-inning run cap on or off and set your game length in Settings.
  - Games wrap up on their own after the final inning, with extra innings when it's tied.
  - Reached the cap? Tap End inning to send the next team up.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-05-29

See who's up next without leaving the opponent scoring screen.

The opponent half now shows Up, On Deck, and In the Hole, with a tap into the full lineup.
Balls and strikes have a one-time hint so optional pitch tracking is easier to find.
Outcome cards use cleaner symbols for faster scanning in the dugout.
Fresh installs now save the first roster player correctly.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-05-23

Easier to find pitch tracking, and a fix for brand-new rosters.

Balls and Strikes are tappable to correct a miscount mid at-bat. A one-time hint now makes that clear.

New players you add right after installing now stay on the roster instead of vanishing.

Refreshed outcome icons on the at-bat screen read better in bright sun.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-05-20

Moving a runner after a hit is now one tap. Plus a smoother start to every game.

  - Long-press a runner to reopen the reason picker on their most recent move.
  - Cleaner copy in the Getting Started and live-scoring help sheets.

  Fixed
  - The pre-game sheet no longer jumps or double-renders when you start a new game.
