## What is Battery Memo?

"Wait - does this remote take AA or AAA?"
Battery Memo ends the guessing you do with the cover already off.

Save each battery-powered thing in your home - remotes, thermometers, clocks, toys, flashlights - together with the battery it takes and a photo of it. Built for one job: opening the app and knowing, right now, before you buy, hunt, or swap.

What it does
- Save a device with its battery type and how many it takes (a photo is enough - the name is optional)
- Open any battery to see every device in your home that uses it
- Count your spares by type, and change the count with the + / - buttons right in the list
- Empty types are flagged as out of stock, in color
- Photograph the drawer or shelf where each battery lives, so you remember where you put it
- Choose from AA, AAA, C, D, N, 9V, CR2032, CR2025, CR2016, LR44, SR44, CR123A and CR2 - or type in any battery that is not on the list
- Switch between English and Japanese any time in Settings

Use it when
- You are heading to the store and want to know what is already in the drawer
- You want the battery type before you unscrew the back of a remote or thermometer
- You bought spares months ago and cannot remember where you stored them
- You want the rest of the household to find the right battery without asking you

Nothing to learn
Saving a device is two taps: pick a photo, pick a battery. No typing required.
Changing a count is one tap in the list. Long-press any card to edit or delete it.

No nagging
There are no replacement-date logs and no reminder notifications.
This app is for the moment you want to check something, not for managing a schedule.

Your data
Everything you save stays on your iPhone. There is no account to create, no sign-in, no ads, and no analytics. Nothing is sent to an outside server.
Photos are re-compressed when saved, so capture dates and GPS locations (Exif) are not kept.
There is no cloud sync, which also means your entries do not transfer to a new phone.

Pricing
The app is free to download and free to use.
Battery stock entries are unlimited. You can save up to 5 devices for free.
Only if you want a 6th device and beyond, a single one-time purchase removes the limit. There is no monthly or yearly subscription.
Reaching the limit never hides or deletes the devices you already saved - it only stops new ones.
If you bought the earlier paid version, the limit is removed for you at no extra charge.

Requirements
iPhone only (iOS 17.0 or later)

## Pricing and in-app purchases

Base price: Free.

**One-time purchases**

| Purchase | Price | Type |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Unlimited Devices | $2.99 | one-time |

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-04

Now free
Battery Memo used to be a paid app. It is now free to download.
You can save up to 5 devices for free. Only if you want a 6th device and beyond, a single one-time purchase removes the limit. Battery stock entries stay unlimited, and there is no subscription.
If you bought the earlier paid version, the limit is removed for you at no extra charge. After switching phones or reinstalling, use "Restore Purchase" on the purchase screen or in Settings.

Easier to tap, easier to read
- The + / - buttons in the list now have a larger touch area, so you hit the one you meant
- At large text sizes, the "Add Device" button no longer covers the cards behind it
- More space at the bottom of each list, so the last card is not hidden by the button or the tab bar
- An empty type now simply reads "Out of stock" instead of a longer line
- Batteries with no storage photo no longer show an empty thumbnail frame
- VoiceOver now says which battery you are changing, for example "Add one AA"

Starts empty
The sample entries that used to appear on first launch are gone. You start with your own devices and batteries only.

Terms and Privacy Policy rewritten
Both were rewritten to match exactly what the app does: what is stored on your device, how photos are handled (they are re-compressed on save, so Exif is not kept), and that there is no cloud sync, so entries do not transfer to a new phone.
