Building your military, researching upgrades, joining alliances, and competing with other players can be genuinely enjoyable. Unfortunately, almost all of that is overshadowed by one major problem: the game is heavily pay-to-win. Players can purchase gold bars with real money, which gives them a massive advantage. Those gold bars can then be used to buy premium captains, powerful gold units, and other upgrades that free-to-play players simply can’t match in any reasonable amount of time. Instead of winning through strategy, planning, or long-term skill, many battles come down to who spent more money. A new player willing to spend hundreds of dollars can quickly surpass someone who has invested months or even years playing for free. The result is discouraging. Free-to-play players feel like they’re constantly playing catch-up, while paying players dominate the rankings with premium advantages that aren’t realistically obtainable through normal gameplay. I don’t mind games that offer cosmetic purchases or convenience items to support development. But when real money directly translates into overwhelming military power, competitive balance disappears. It stops being a strategy game and starts feeling like a spending contest. BattleCry has the foundation to be an excellent long-term strategy game, but until the developers address the overwhelming advantage that paid content provides, it’s difficult to recommend to anyone looking for a fair competitive experience. Rating: 3 stars Great idea. Poor competitive balance. If you’re willing to spend a lot of money, you’ll probably have fun. If you’re hoping skill and strategy are enough, you’ll likely be disappointed. And the level of petty/toxic behavior over a little banter is kinda sad. Had a guy recently, come at me wrong via chat, decided because he wasn’t winning enough started boosting his account via in game purchases really fast were talking jumping 10 levels within 12 hrs. Proceeds to spam my account and make a derogatory remark on my wall. Afterwards makes aa second troll low level account solely for spamming my account with strikes. Have receipts starting in 2018. I've recently finally got my account in really good shape from buying so much over the years and slowly building and was finally very competitive player with the top players in the game. Went to bed and woke up to finding ALL my accounts had gold on hand gone and gold bought units that took me years to build up gone. No warning. Nothing about why. I sent an email to the Devs and watched my ticket for a reply for days to finally logging into dynamicnext sight to find it unanswered yet another day and closed.Because they offer gold cheaper in some countries than others and had shared it with a friend who put gold on it from his country to war with during the tournament they said it was an illegal purchase and took my hard earned over the years units I PAYED for. No warning. Nothing in TOS about it. No hey! You can't do that stop or else. Just took my stuff. Used the word illegal and I guess they didn't need to explain themselves or give any warning just said we never own anything in game we pay for. It's all theirs in the end. Deal with it. 6 years I wasted of my time and money to build myself a nice competitive acct(which is the only way you can) just to have it ripped away while I slept. Either don't spend money on it or don't play and you'll never lose anything cause you'll never own anything you do buy that they can take for whatever reason they decide to use the word illegal for. I'm working with Apple at the moment trying to get some of my money back and getting the game reported for it. If you decide to play and spend. Good luck! You'll need it. ### 1/5 — A great game if…… *2023-10-05* You are into rampant cheating, weekly (If not daily) TOS violations, game automation, and gold hacks, all of which go unpunished by apathetic, inept developers. This game has been around for almost 9 years and the developers used to take input from all of the players, now they don’t even respond to trouble tickets, usually letting them sit unresolved for weeks before they close them out unresolved as well. Take a look at the privacy policy for this game as well which has not been updated in three years. Unfortunately this developer does not care about anything except in-game gold sales and creating useless updates.
