### 1/5 — Awful

*2024-12-25*

Awful app. Awful product. Bluetooth disconnects from probe and phone from any distance. Won’t reconnect. When it is actually working it is giving me notifications every 2 degrees that my cook is done when it’s not even near target temperature. All in all a bad product and app. Doesn’t surprise me from Chinese garbage.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2024-11-28, version 2.9.0*

App does not allow you to create an account or use guest login.

### 1/5 — App is BROKEN

*2024-07-28, version 2.8.0*

Temp probe connects but there are so many issues with the IOS app! Most of the user inputs are broken. Needs update ASAP or thermometer is unusable.

### 1/5 — It Doesn’t Work

*2024-07-16*

The probe doesn’t work. It constantly said I needed to be closer to the gauge on Bluetooth, even though I was in the kitchen and the claim was within 500 feet. The temp gauge showed my baked chicken was done, even though the real reading was 20 degrees below the optimal temperature.

### 1/5 — Never could get account created

*2024-05-28, version 2.7.1*

Despite numerous attempts, I was never able to create an account on the app. Without an account, I cannot use the wireless thermometer. I tried going to the manufacturers website, but everything is in Chinese. I did not see any option to convert to English. I’ll be contacting Amazon and making a return. What a total letdown! If zero stars was an option that’s what I would be giving.

### 1/5 — Unable to log in keep getting failed message

*2024-05-27*

Will try again. So far unable to use

### 1/5 — Don’t buy this product!

*2024-05-27*

I purchased the BBQOVN temperature probe, which requires this app to use. The app can’t be used without signing up for an account, but every time I try I get the message “ request failed”. So now I’m left with a useless temperature probe.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2024-05-26, version 2.7.1*

Forcing you to set up an account and then taking too long to send the reset code when you only give it 60 sec to expire!

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2024-03-06, version 2.6.2*

Worst app ever created. This thing does not work

### 1/5 — 56GB usage

*2024-01-17, version 2.5.6*

The app I thought was great and incredibly user friendly. Looked at my phone today and it was using 56 GBs. Not MB. Gigs!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Registration

*2026-03-10*

I’m not sure how long it should take to get a registration email so I can login, or even why I need verification for a cooking thermometer, but since I just got it I can easily return it.

### 1/5 — It is not reliable or accurate

*2026-03-08*

My favorite probe does not do multiple deferent temps for one probe. Hard to make sure the meat temp is where you want. It also disconnects from the app when wrapped with tin foil a lot.

### 1/5 — Useless garbage

*2026-01-14, version 3.0.9*

Bad Chinese product

### 1/5 — Terrible Tech

*2025-11-27*

Worst connection experience. It’s 2025. WiFi should be seamless. Also, instructions are terrible. It says, “Remove probe from booster, keep probe connected.” Which is it? Took me 30 mins to figure out it meant to lay probe next to booster. 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

### 1/5 — Aggravation🤬👎 going back to Meater.

*2025-11-27*

Got the two set black and white combo and multi tasking for this thing is terrible! Temps are consistently inconsistent and many times I found that I had to close the app out completely and reopen the app to switch back from one thermometer to the other. That and when one was done the system didn’t recognize the cook was done until I cleaned the probe and put it back in its charging block. After that the device switched readings to the black probe being the one in the oven when the white was the one still in the oven🥵Going back to Meater. Looks nice… but it’s trash. Maybe you will have better luck with a single probe. The multi probe packs? nope!

### 1/5 — Terrible Save your money no support and product does not work at all!

*2025-07-27*

Terrible product

### 1/5 — Great hardware ruined by an awful app and obnoxious customer support

*2025-02-25, version 2.9.6*

This app is just plain awful. The probe disconnects if you walk too far away and will not reconnect until removed from your food and re-docked. It beeps constantly with no way to stop it without disabling all alerts. There are multiple pop-ups and ways to contact support, but they won’t respond for 12 hours, so why use it?

I’d like to see the following:
- Remove the chat feature entirely and stop having support personnel message me out of the blue.
- Remove the chat popup.
- Remove the chat button! Seriously! How many “Dear fiend” (not my typo) annoyances do I need?
- If chat only responds between 2 AM and 9 AM, say so in the app so I don’t waste my time! “Sorry, friend, it was our sleep time earlier.”
- Translate the app better.
- Make metric units the default. Sorry, America. Get better.
- Give me more control over notifications. I don’t need to flip every piece of meat every five minutes.
- Make it easier to reconnect the probe after walking too far away.

Now support sent me one message and I got six notifications while I’m laying in bed reviewing this app. My two-star review is now a one-star review. I’m not even joking.

I should have spent more money and gotten a better thermometer, preferably one from a company who didn’t think software was something that could be outsourced to the lowest bidder.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-01-18*

I saw this product for a cheap price and the saying you get what you pay for is very true. This product is terrible and the probe will not connect.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2025-01-10, version 2.9.4*

Tried for an hour to get the setup complete. No customer service. Returning.

### 1/5 — Unusable in Fahrenheit

*2025-01-01*

Probe depth temperatures read incorrectly in Fahrenheit. 30 C reads as 57 F, somehow. Also, temperature set points in Fahrenheit aren’t whole numbers, but random values with odd decimals. Please build proper support for Fahrenheit, it’s kinda embarrassing to see a product app in such an unusable state.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2026-08-25*

Works great! Great connection. Love the seven sensor zones on each probe. Good price. Can’t say enough about these temp probes

### 5/5 — Latest update

*2026-08-25*

The latest update is great. Much more options and love the style and view on the iPhone.

### 5/5 — Works Great! Read directions

*2025-01-09*

I got the BBQ4 Thermo Probe as a present for Christmas. I love it, I don’t know why people are upset. Just connect it to you WiFi, just have password handy when setting it up via this app. Then keep the probe & base close together, they say 3ft, but it’s a give or take a foot or so. Then just don’t be further than like 75ft from your router. I live in an apt., so it works out nicely here. But yeah, very happy with this.

### 5/5 — Works Great

*2025-01-04*

I purchased this product for a Christmas ribeye roast and it worked perfectly. I smoking a bone in pork loin and again it’s amazing. I’ve had no
Connection Issues. Does and incredible job monitoring the internal temperature and ambient temperature. Make sure you download are updates!

### 5/5 — Works great so far

*2025-01-04, version 2.9.4*

Works as expected. Ran it for about 6 hours and it held connection as i walked around in the house and around the yard and notified me when the pork butt was at temp.

### 5/5 — It worked for a 10 hour smoke

*2025-01-01*

I think some people may be having issues with this cause they don’t keep the hub close to the thermometer. I think you need it within 3 to 6 feet I didn’t have any major issues.

### 5/5 — Easy set up

*2024-12-29*

Works great. Christmas tenderloin came out perfect

### 5/5 — Pleasantly surprised

*2024-12-10*

Was very nervous when I saw the app reviews after receiving this as a gift. However, I experiences none of the issues that were listed previously. Maybe an app update occurred? I easily paired my devices without creating account (option to login as a guest). I had no issues keeping probes connected to the extender. First cook turned out great with no issues. Will continue to monitor longevity but believes it deserves a higher rating than what was previously given.

### 3/5 — Great Potential if you could actually see what you’re doing!

*2023-12-31*

This app has amazing potential but there is a MAJOR problem. Anytime you try to adjust the temperature for any kind of meat, you CANNOT SEE ANYTHING! I don’t know if it’s the background color of the app or the font color of the numbers/meat but anytime you try to adjust those two things the interface is 100% unusable. Besides that MAJOR issue, this app is excellent for anyone trying to ‘learn’ how to smoke/grill meat. They have charts that give you a break down on how the meat has progressed during the cook and also saves previous cooks for reference. Those features are wonderful, I just wish the overall interface was more legible.

My overall rating would definitely change to 5 stars if the interface was 100% legible!

### 2/5 — Doesn’t Function Properly

*2025-05-01*

I really wanted this to be what I needed for my cooking but every single time, the app tells me it is completed way too early. I set it to 168•F and it marks done at 142•F. So then I have to set it up all over again
