### 2/5 — Too slow to react

*2022-07-18, version 10.0.51*

Although the app is great when it gets things right, it’s often much too slow in its reactions.

If I get a news report on TV about a fire threatening a town, and then cannot find it in the app, it’s too slow.

If I click on a listed fire, and it’s dated a year ago, at .2 hectares, you know that fire has to be extinguished and shouldn’t be shown in the app; too slow to react.

### 2/5 — Needs work

*2021-07-22, version 10.0.51*

Great info but extremely difficult to scroll on the map to move to different locations

### 4/5 — Very good app, but just one more thing

*2019-11-16, version 10.0.51*

It is a great app! You you get your reports much faster than the website! Also, what is up with the low ratings for this app, it is more like a 4 star app, not a 2.5 star app (in my opinion). If there is one more optional thing the developer can do, is can you add support for iPhone 11 Pro Max screen?

Thank You!

### 4/5 — Better than BC Wildfires Website

*2019-05-31, version 10.0.51*

This app provides more info in a single location than the B.C. Wildfires website. Good job for an Alpha build.

It’s unfortunate that some have had a problem loading the app. It works fine for me on several devices. I would suggest those that have had problems perhaps try rebooting their device and try again and see if that resolves it. You are missing a good app.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t load

*2018-08-12, version 10.0.51*

Great last year but can’t get past loading screen. Animation is nicer this year, too bad I can’t get to the actual app any more.

### 1/5 — Won’t Load.

*2018-08-09, version 10.0.51*

I just downloaded the app and it won’t load. Stuck on the burning fire icon.

### 1/5 — App won’t open. It is stuck on “loading” screen.

*2018-08-08, version 10.0.51*

App won’t open. It is stuck on “loading” screen.

### 1/5 — Won’t load

*2018-08-08, version 10.0.51*

Like everyone else had said, this app won’t go beyond the loading screen. The last update was 4 months ago and the app hasn’t worked since then, if not longer.

### 3/5 — Needs some tweaking

*2018-07-22, version 10.0.51*

I still haven’t spent a lot of time going through the app but it seems to work, though when I first looked at it during a slow fire period across the province I thought it was a little slow. I understood once I saw the data it was accessing. Having worked in a fire centre I know the databases can be quite large. When I tried it, multiple times, during an active fire period it didn’t get past the loading window. I suspect data overload, either at source or in the download, so limited memory requirements, incremental downloads. If the initial download was contained to a specific fire centre region, or file types (FWI, danger rating, etc.) this problem might be less prevalent. As it is now, it’s unworkable when you want it most, during a period of active fires. Unfortunate, as it could be very useful if it worked.

Update: now have it on an iPad and iPhone. Both were stuck on the loading window until I pressed the flame for a second or two which then caused it to open past that point. Worked using that method on both devices. Iphone still said loading....., ipad didn’t. Glad I tried it, but shouldn’t have had to, to pass the loading page. May just need to fix the trigger for page. Not as detailed as I would like but I’m a data junky and speaking as someone who has worked the raw data in the past. Does provide a quick overview of the situation.

### 1/5 — Loading.

*2018-07-21, version 10.0.51*

App always takes forever to load, that is if it loads at all. Never have a problem with Alberta’s wildfire app.

### 1/5 — Me

*2018-07-21, version 10.0.51*

Won’t go beyond loading. Worked last year. This app won’t load. Do not bother.

### 1/5 — Won’t load

*2018-07-20, version 10.0.51*

Not much good as it won’t load on either my iPhone 7 or my iPad 2017. The fire just keeps burning and the app keeps “loading”.
Useless.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2018-07-02, version 10.0.51*

Won’t load.

### 1/5 — Won’t Load

*2018-05-30, version 10.0.51*

Won’t load on my 1 year old I pad

### 1/5 — Loading........

*2018-05-27, version 10.0.51*

Can’t use the app! I just installed it and all it does is load and load some more. Are you going to fix this as it is unfortunately already wildfire season? Update the app so it’s useful please.

### 1/5 — BC Wildfire Utility

*2024-05-10, version 10.0.51*

Never gets out of loading mode despite waiting and waiting and waiting. Have deleted it and te-downloaded from App Store to no effect

### 1/5 — Constant bugs and late updates

*2021-07-22, version 10.0.51*

Kinda inconvenient being a firefighter trying to track fires in my area off hours when the maps hardly zoom in and you take out the satellite positioning every 3rd day. Fix it and I’ll fix my review

### 1/5 — Worked for a week

*2021-07-08, version 10.0.51*

Then the most important aspect the map was shut off with a notice saying unless someone gives us $3000 this map will remain off. Useful while it worked useless now.

### 1/5 — Don’t bother

*2018-09-01, version 10.0.51*

It just sits on loading screen and does nothing. Might as well watch the log burning channel on Shaw

### 1/5 — :/

*2018-08-21, version 10.0.51*

### 1/5 — Don’t bother

It won’t load.

### 1/5 — Wouldn’t load

*2018-08-18, version 10.0.51*

Tried 2x to open app, all it would say was “loading”. Then on the 3rd time was just a black screen. Deleted app.

### 1/5 — JUNK

*2018-08-15, version 10.0.51*

Won’t load, pull down the useless app if you won’t fix it .

### 1/5 — Useless

*2018-08-12, version 10.0.51*

The app won’t load, useless...better just use google and see maps of fire there.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — much more info

*2021-09-07, version 10.0.51*

I have been using the other official BCWildfire app but find this one more informative and updates quicker. For example it told me how far away the fire was from my location and then the terrain map showed exactly where fire is as well as me. It also has a predictive lightning map updated every 10 minutes. It also has a predictive precipitation map layer. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Love it

*2021-07-03, version 10.0.51*

I’ve never had a problem with the program not loading. The map comes up a lot faster than the BC fire website. I think this program is great!

### 5/5 — Most useful

*2019-06-24, version 10.0.51*

The information offered is top notch, fast updates, multiple sources of information, better than anything on the web and that is what matters most! Thank you for this!
The app itself requires... a lot of internal polishing... to put it nice. For me works ok, just a bit weird here and there.

Thank you again!

### 5/5 — Highly recommend

*2018-08-11, version 10.0.51*

This is very helpful! It keeps us updated on fires near us and offers a lot of information. Easy to use and fantastic. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Looks good

*2018-07-15, version 10.0.51*

I just downloaded this, but it looks like it will suit my purposes perfectly and in fact I’m going to recommend it to several friends.

I live near Kamloops, and have recreational property in the Cariboo. I couldn’t even get to my cabin at all last year due to the fires, so the 2017 situation opened my eyes to the tinderbasket that is our province.

Good job, you guys should approach the B.C. wildfire service and get some funding from them.

### 5/5 — Logins!? - Update

*2017-08-18, version 1.1.0*

Agreed with other users. No use in a log in. I hoped it was like the Alberta fire app which works perfectly. The BC one I'll have to pass on for now.

So developer got back and removed the gripe I had. Awesome!

### 5/5 — Area notifications work perfect!

*2016-09-07, version 1.1.0*

When camping, we received notification that the coastal region was going into campfire restriction. Amazing!

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2016-06-29, version 1.0.3*

This is lightening fast and informative!

### 5/5 — Commenters learn to read!

*2016-05-22, version 1.0*

I love this app compared to the BC fire webpage. It is more concise and still gives you the information you need. If you read in the about us section it explains why you have to register. This app is for reporting fires and getting information about fires. Really wish people would read before they make comments.

### 5/5 — Contact info to log in?

*2016-05-08, version 1.0*

Meadow-muffins! There is no reason that I should have to give my personal info to check on wildfire conditions. I'll stick with the BC government wildfire website
