Now instead of voting negatively on everyone else’s answers, they just leave when theirs doesn’t advance in the bracket. It feels like there’s always at least one person who does this, and it’s not rare to find only three people left in a match after an initial six started it. I feel like it wouldn’t be terribly difficult to fix this, just portion out the points so people get more as the game goes on (unless you’re scared of a lawsuit from Jackbox games, which, fair enough, but that doesn’t make the game better). I also came across a couple repeated prompts after just two or three days playing. If I played this for a twenty minutes a day for a month, I’d expect that number to go way up. I know it might not be practical to add enough prompts to last so long, but that doesn’t make the game better. Mobile version also has a lot of ads, and a not insignificant amount of bugs (although the bugs aren’t too disruptive). Also, the times displayed (such as the time of 7:00 pm in the store) seemingly don’t adjust to the user’s time zone. At least say what time zone you’re referencing. I know it doesn’t matter, but it just seems a bit sloppy. ### 3/5 — Good, could be so much better *2022-11-10, version 2.0.1* The concept of be funny now is great, and the gameplay itself takes everything we love about Jacksfilms and Jackbox and puts it into an app. The issue is the game takes so much longer than it should, it has three rounds each taking about 4 minutes, which leads to far too many disconnects. My suggestion is change the format to one round only, and have a button at the end that just says “join another game” ### 4/5 — Pretty decent but at the end of the day, still a YouTuber mobile game *2022-07-06, version 1.1.1* I’m the beginning it was loads of fun, especially before the “only vote once” patch. Very quickly the game became, gamified, and public lobbies are a lot less fun. We’re all just “tomatoing” each other despite good jokes and while the meter thing might have helped, the only appeal really is with private lobbies. In terms of becoming more successful, I think if the advertising for the game were focused on the private lobbies, more players would join. Felt kinda iffy about the email sign up but eh. The avatars are kind of mid but they’re pretty good for a YouTuber game. Overall, pretty cool. ### 4/5 — Great idea, bad community *2022-06-25, version 1.1.1* People vote others bad for no reason, to solve this, remove the bar that is blocked by peoples names anyway and make voting less anonymous so you can report bad players. Also make it more like dictionarium instead of joke boat, because a lot of jokes have unforeseen similarities that make only the first joke good, then the last 5 are very repetitive. Please fix these problems and I will happily play more, but until then, I’ll just do the daily joke. ### 4/5 — So Good Until… *2022-06-10, version 1.1.0* I absolutely loved this game when it came out. All of the updates with the question packs were great, until this latest one. Now, you can only react once to an answer. This is less fun on both sides; the joke sayer gets less engagement, making the game way less exciting, and it’s less fun to react. I do think there should be a penalty for two many angry reactions, but not a scale. Should I be penalized if the other people in that particular round happen to be generally unfunny? The fun part about this game is getting to react honestly to a bunch of strangers, and they become characters as you start to see their unique senses of humor. This takes that away. In terms of number of reactions per joke: I often change my reaction based on others; if someone is getting negative reactions to an okay joke I’ll give them a positive one, and vice versa, especially for something offensive. That is dynamic and interesting, and so what if more engaged players get more of a say?? They’re contributing to making the game more fun and interactive! Just one reaction per person is robotic and not fun. I play this every day, but I probably won’t anymore if this stays the same. ### 3/5 — Needs work, but I’m optimistic! *2022-06-07, version 1.0.3* This game must be tons of fun with friends in an environment where you can actually talk to them (either in person or on a voice/video chat), but public lobbies? Started off fun but unfortunately evolved into some toxicity. The anonymity allowed is a pitfall since you can make angry reactions without anyone knowing who you are and even though I tried to have an arsenal of roses to combat it, it’s no use. I uninstalled so I’d have space on my phone. BUT, it seems to me that the developers are aware of the issue and are working hard to fix it so I’m holding out hope! ### 4/5 — Fun game but the rating system needs work *2022-06-05, version 1.0.3* This game is super fun and the ads are pretty unobtrusive, my only complaint is that the voting/scoring system is very easily abused, and some people are downvoting all answers so that they will win, additionally when too many players drop out mid-game, it’s frustrating to lose the game progress and not get many/ any coins at the end of the round. This could be solved by having a set reward for each place (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) rather than the reward being based on the number of each reaction received. Overall this game is excellent, and they have been quick to resolve many of the bugs that were reported when it first launched! ### 4/5 — Good So Far! *2022-06-05, version 1.0.3* The game is mostly super fun! I’ve encountered two major recurring bugs: my answer, after being submitted, will not fully show up in the round, so it looks like i only typed part of my answer. The other issue is the keyboard gets stuck and I cannot type, and it breaks the entire app so I’m forced to leave and refresh. Not a developer issue, but I’ve noticed that there will be games where no one laughs at anyones jokes — we all end in negatives. I don’t want people to laugh if it’s not funny, but the “boo” spamming is annoying. The actual gameplay is fun! Looking forward to more prompts and bug fixes. ### 3/5 — Was Great. Full of Trolls *2022-06-03, version 1.0.3* Let’s be honest, we all look forward to Jack finally release the game but… it’s not perfect yet. Like most games, it starts out great, but the more popular it gets, the more trolls come out. I’ve played three games today and no matter what everyone ended up in the negative points… because people automatically hit the not funny button just to troll around. I really like playing with an audience but the constant trolls makes me not want to play it. ### 3/5 — Has potential *2022-05-31, version 1.0.2* I was a fan of Jack a few years ago, but I still watch his content occasionally and am open to supporting his endeavors Thought I would try this game and was pleasantly surprised. It definitely needs some work; as some other users said—more prompts and less bugs at the very least. However, for what it is, I really enjoyed myself I do think the voting system is a bit broken though. I noticed some people who would just downvote everyone themselves to get an automatic win. I called this out once instead of answering the prompt and got a gold rose for it, so I can’t be the only one who feels this way I’ll probably wait for a while and see where this app goes but the time I spent in this app was enjoyable and I might recommend it to some people ### 4/5 — Needs work *2022-05-28, version 1.0.2* Kinda buggy, but fun. Whenever me or my friend get our rewards most the time if one of us gets a golden rose from someone it displays that we got zero and doesn’t count it towards are rewards. It does the same for tomatoes kinda making me think they’re pointless. I also noticed a few glitchy characters every so often. I feel like the rating system can be abused by people who just want to win so maybe it should be changed a bit. It’s a bit odd seeing the totaled points someone gets when you can’t see what each rating is worth in points. If we could see that, I think it be a bit better. Despite all these issues, it’s still pretty easy to ignore it and just have fun with it anyway for the most part. ### 4/5 — Good game with some bugs! *2022-05-28, version 1.0.2* So I installed this while I was bored, and it turns out that this game is pretty fun to play! The prompts are pretty funny, and people can get creative. I would like to list some problems, but I know y’all are going to fix them eventually! -Every time I open the game for a new game, the sound and music are always turned down, no matter my volume set on my phone -Tokens can’t be earned in any other way other than paying for them, which I find a bit annoying, but I suppose the creator needs the money too -Some prompts are similar to eachother, maybe some fans could add new prompts to kee the game fresh? ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 2/5 — A dumpster fire of a game *2023-07-24* I can’t tell you how excited I was to support jack by playing his game so you can assume the emotion I felt when I realized this game was honestly unsatisfactory and absolutely boring and horribly executed. I’m always stumbling into the same prompts over and over again leaving me no room to actually play anything fun anymore. It’s just not fun when you have seen the same junk over and over and yet you have to create a whole different thing for something that is honestly useless. This is also if you can even get into a round as you might as well read a dictionary to its fullest extent without ever getting in a round. The game has potential but it’s badly executed. Also most of the player base is either kids or just toxic people who either always want to make sex or shrek or edgy jokes to be “funny” for a game called be funny now it’s not funny at all having kids drawing peens and shreks most of the time. I honestly reccomend you just play the steam version as it has no ads and is free to play without a lot of some of the inconveniences as this version. I would rather play cards against humanity than this garbage. ### 2/5 — Dancing bears *2022-09-07, version 1.1.5* I’m unsure why the game has stopped working for me. I’ve only been playing the daily question for the past month or so, but have been enjoying it. Tonight it suddenly won’t let me play. It says I have “too many tickets”. In not sure what the “tickets” are, however if it’s meant as some sort of censorship, I believe there may be a mistake. My answers have been relatively tame compared to many others. I don’t want to start from scratch, I’ve accumulated quite a good amount of coins and other things. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer! ### 2/5 — Scores easily manipulated *2022-06-11, version 1.1.0* I liked this game for the first few rounds I played, but then I noticed that someone was using only their bad reacts on purpose (presumably to tank everyone else’s scores). This started happening in all my rounds. Someone even started spamming tomatoes every time anyone else went. (And you can tell who it is because, miraculously, tomatoes stop flying when it’s their turn.) It’s really no fun at all when people just keep reacting negatively just so they can win a round. I just want to read funny stuff, not worry about if someone is going to intentionally skew the results in their favor. Might not play again unless they fix this and make the scoring a little more fair. ### 2/5 — Not Well Thought Out; Mediocre *2022-06-11, version 1.1.0* Let’s get right to the point, the voting system is terrible. You can spam positive or negative votes and you can see what others vote while voting yourself. This fosters mob mentality; dislike trains will happen for one joke, while a joke that’s exactly the same will be loved. The game is also terrible for mobile, the drawing prompts being hard to draw on mobile and many questions hard to make on mobile as there is no enter button. Please do better next time. ### 2/5 — Lots of room for improvement *2022-06-05, version 1.0.3* The most irritating thing about this game is how it sometimes cuts off the end of your answer without warning. It seems like this might be a censorship feature, but a better way to do this would be to have a warning message when you press “submit”, letting you know that your answer contains language that can’t be shared with other players and giving you the opportunity to change it. Having it just display the first few words of your answer gets really frustrating. Also as others have pointed out, the voting system is pretty flawed because players can gain an advantage by just giving everyone else a low score. If there was a different way to structure the voting, like having the users rank all the answers in a round from best to worst instead of voting on each individually, that would ensure a bit more fairness in the way people respond to answers. ### 2/5 — Only fun with friends *2022-05-29, version 1.0.2* There are some major issues with the app in its current condition. The main one being that sometimes it will not allow you to login to the app at all. It’s been about 4 days and not once have I been able to get past the logging in screen. Both with and without WiFi it it’s refusing to work. The second one is that of playing in a public game. This is not so much the fault of the app devs but, the public. Often you’ll get people just spamming negatively, people disobeying the prompts, and not voting for any of the drawing games. I have yet to been asked to draw something in a public game. I’d suggest for prompts like “describe in 4 words” have a word limit of 4 words. However, the game becomes a lot better when actually playing in a private game with friends because obviously it’s more tailored and concise. Thirdly, the ads. I understand that’s how money is made but, in all the games I’ve played (about 12) the same ad played. Maybe I got a different ad three times, it’s infuriating to have to sit though the same ad just to get the currency. The music slaps though. ### 2/5 — Great idea, still needs work *2022-05-18, version 1.0.1* I’ve had the game crash a few times, and the daily question voting won’t load. But the main problem is the public lobbies. Too many people negatively rate everyone in an attempt to get their own question ranked higher. I mean, I have got 1st or 2nd place many times, and every time it’s in the negatives. It shouldn’t be possible to have -300 and get 1st. I’m not sure how this could be fixed, it’s not the devs or Jack’s fault people aren’t playing the game honestly. But it’s definitely the main thing preventing the game from being fun. ### 2/5 — Concerned *2022-05-18, version 1.0.1* After hearing the announcement for this game, I decided to download it, only to immediately delete it. Why? The first thing I saw upon opening the game was a privacy concern for me—the requirement to input your email and password, or have a guest account. I’m also assuming if you made a lot of progress on a guest account you couldn’t transfer that to an email linked account. The blank screen before that wasn’t very reassuring either (I reset the app a couple of times before the log-in screen appeared). I’m not sure if there’s a privacy policy I can read somewhere but on the App Store there are a lot of things mentioned in the “data collected and linked to you” section. The app also suffers from lackluster publicity. For a party game, I did not feel very excited to play it. I’m not an expert on advertising but constantly reiterating “buy my game” did not go over well with me. Especially when I could play an identical game with just a few pieces of paper. Don’t get me wrong, it makes me really happy to see someone’s project finally come to fruition, I just feel like it could’ve been advertised better. If it was I might’ve bothered to check out the gameplay before reviewing. Also the art isn’t that great. Overall, looks fun, but suffers from boring advertisement and raises some privacy concerns. ### 3/5 — Fun, but nearly impossible to play… *2022-12-12, version 2.0.2* It’s definitely a great idea and enjoyable game (when it runs properly, anyway) but there are so many glitches that irk me to no me and don’t seem to be getting fixed. For one, I’ve been stuck on the same daily question for the past week - it gives me the option to vote for the final round but the final round never seems to end. Secondly, when submitting a question it’ll delete all but a few words from it. So if I answer “it was dad’s fault” it would only say “it was” (not very funny). I can tell this issue also plagues many of the users I wind up with on public lobbies. I can see so much greatness in this game, I really hope these get resolved. ### 3/5 — Ok, could be way better *2022-12-05, version 2.0.2* While the last update fixed a lot, this game has a long way to go. It certainly doesn’t help that it feels like even the creators have given up on this game. (They haven’t even bothered to put a new daily question in days!) There’s a few suggestions I have. Having new questions is great, but I think we need entirely new categories too. I don’t mean replace the ones we have, just add three or four new ones. With more categories, means more possible questions, and more possible answers. I also believe this game would benefit from more personal questions. Instead of having fill-in-the-blank type questions with very specific prompts, the questions could be more open-ended. (For example, right about a time you were embarrassed). That way, we get more creative answers than “among us” or “your mom”. Also, good lord, let us unsubmit answers! I’m tired of looking stupid cause of typos, or not being able to change my a joke to a better one! Please, this is so annoying! I’m really rooting for this game, and I really think making these changes would help it do well! It has so much potential, it’s just a matter of putting the love and care in to help get it there. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Amazing but needs more players *2022-11-24, version 2.0.2* This game is hilarious. It’s like cards against humanity but does not limit you to a deck of cards. The customization, though limited before making purchases, is incredible and extensive. The emotes are so fun! I love the ability to react to winners and the golden roses AND tomatoes both make me feel appreciated (either people thinking I’m clever or the boos from my puns. They both fuel me). Also the new voting system is SO much better than the old way. The daily question is so fun and engaging. My only issue is it is dependent on people playing. Which is why I’m writing this. Anyone reading: THIS GAME IS AMAZING! You will not regret the hours you’ll put into it. Please download it so we have more people to play with! ### 5/5 — Great game! Change Outfits *2022-11-12, version 2.0.1* I absolutely love this game, and I think there are some great clothing options. However, I wish that you could see all the clothing only with lock symbols. You wouldn’t have to change the shop, just allow people to know all that can be bought so that they can plan outfit combos and look for specific things in the shop. ### 5/5 — so awesome *2022-11-09, version 2.0.1* i played this game when it first released, and the original voting system sorta felt made to make other players feel bad unless they had a specific sort of humor. BUT, the new system is fantastic! It makes it much easier to have a good time and feel funny, and its a lot harder to dog on someone with the anonymity. Sometimes we stretch over the line of what should be said, and as a result I just got banned. The weird thing is I haven’t said anything that bad recently, the worst being “p*nis”. I rated this a 5 star because it deserves it in my opinion and the one problem I found does not effect the game in anyway. The only problem I did find was that every time you re open the app, it’s makes you reset the music level. I started playing it a couple days ago, and I really want it more. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Be funny now reminds me of my mother giving me a big bear hug. I haven’t stopped playing be funny now since I have downloaded it approximately 47 hours 37 minutes and 12 seconds ago and have not stopped playing it since. I love be funny now. I understand that you can't log into the game as a guest but just make an account it's not that hard. also I've seen a lot of people complain about the other players of this game and that's not the game's fault it's the players fault just because the game doesn't have good players doesn't mean it's a bad game. I understand there's a lot of bugs but Jack is working to fix that so be a little bit more patient before you write a negative review. The only critique I have is to be able to earn blue coins when we play the game. Also there should be more options to what you can buy with gold coins most of the good stuff you can only buy with blue tokens.
