## What is Beacon?

Your to-do list keeps growing, time keeps slipping, and starting feels impossible. Beacon is the calm, ADHD-friendly way to finally get things done, one gentle step at a time.
Beacon is a reminders app built for the way real brains actually work, especially brains that get overwhelmed by long lists, lose track of time, or freeze at the thought of beginning. Think of it as a calm external brain: it remembers, times, and shrinks your tasks, so you do not have to hold it all in your head.
WHY BEACON FEELS DIFFERENT
One thing at a time. Beacon shows your next action, not your entire backlog. Less overwhelm, more starting.
Time you can actually see. Every task has a calm countdown, so "later" stops turning into "too late." No red alarms, no panic.
Kind on the hard days. Miss something? There is no shaming OVERDUE, no broken streak, no guilt. Beacon reframes gently and celebrates every win, the small ones too.
Shrink the first step. Any task can collapse into a two-minute starting move, so the hardest part, beginning, gets easier.
Park it, guilt-free. Not ready today? Set a task aside in the Parking Lot and Beacon brings it back softly when the time is right. Nothing gets lost.
WORKS WITH WHAT YOU ALREADY USE
Beacon sits on top of Apple Reminders and Calendar, so you keep everything you already rely on. Say a reminder to Siri and it shows up in Beacon, sorted and doable. Check it off in Beacon and it syncs right back. No migration, no starting over.
WHAT YOU GET
Smart capture: brain-dump a messy thought and Beacon finds the task and the time for you.
Focus timer and body-double sessions to help you start and keep going.
Energy tags to match tasks to how you actually feel right now.
Gentle, well-timed nudges instead of a wall of notifications.
Home Screen widgets, Lock Screen Live Activities, and an Apple Watch app, so your next step is always a glance away.
Private by design: no account, no tracking, no cloud sync. The only thing Beacon ever sends is an anonymous crash report.
WHO IT IS FOR
Beacon was made for people with ADHD, and that turns out to be a lot of us: anyone who has felt buried by their own list, lost time without meaning to, or been too hard on themselves for it. If that sounds familiar, welcome.

### 5/5 — Finally Great Reminders App

*2026-07-10*

Finally an app that gets how my brain actually works. I’ve tried more than 5 other reminder apps and always fall off after a week because they’re either too complicated or too basic. Beacon strikes this weird perfect balance where it’s simple enough that I actually open it but smart enough that it doesn’t feel like a glorified sticky note.

The thing that sold me was how it handles rescheduling. I used to just ignore reminders when I missed them because rescheduling felt like a chore, but this makes it so easy I actually keep up with stuff now. My only complaint is I wish there were a few more customization options for recurring tasks, but honestly that’s a small nitpick.

Five stars from me.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.11 — 2026-08-12

Set aside, right from the card.

• The task in front of you can now go straight to the Parking Lot with
one tap. No date pressure, nothing deleted, and Beacon brings it back
  gently over time.
• Changed your mind? An undo appears for a few seconds and puts the
task back exactly as it was.
• Quick reminders show Set aside next to Snooze. Focus tasks show it
  beside the calendar option.
• One consistent word for it everywhere. Menus and swipes that used to
say "Park" now say "Set aside". The Parking Lot keeps its name.
• The new buttons adapt to larger text sizes and smaller phones.

### 1.0.10 — 2026-08-06

Repeating reminders are a lot more careful now.

• Snoozing a repeating reminder moves just that one. It no longer shifts
every future repeat to the new time.
• Marking one done confirms it and tells you when the next one lands, so
you are not left wondering whether the tap registered.
• Tapping done more than once no longer skips ahead through several
  repeats.
• Finishing a repeating reminder in Siri or the Reminders app now leaves
the next one visible in Beacon.

Now shows what you can actually do.

• The focal card no longer gives the spotlight to something due next week
while today's doable work sits out of sight. Overdue and due soon come
first, then things you captured without a date, then what is scheduled
  further out.
• When nothing is due today, the card says so instead of implying rush.

Older reminders, handled gently.

• Beacon can offer to set aside undated reminders you captured a long time
ago. Nothing is deleted, everything can come back, and the same option
lives in Settings whenever you want it.
• The set-aside receipt now has an undo.

Smaller things.

• Fixed a freeze that could happen at launch with a few hundred reminders.
• Larger text sizes now fit properly on the Now card, the set-aside card,
and the capture sheet on smaller iPhones.

### 1.0.9 — 2026-07-25

Say it messy. Beacon sorts it better than ever.

This update makes voice capture sharper:

• One ramble now splits into separate tasks more reliably, even when you toss in an "oh, and one more thing"
• When your words include a time ("tomorrow," "by Saturday"), the due date fills itself in
• Cleaner task titles: filler words no longer sneak in

Also in recent updates:

• Smart capture is on by default on supported iPhones
• Smoother scrolling and capture polish across Now, Upcoming, and Done

As always: no red overdue, no streaks, no guilt. Your brain is fine. The tools just got better.

### 1.0.8 — 2026-07-23

A calmer, smoother Beacon.

New in this update:
• A cleaner Now tab. Your next thing now gets the full spotlight at the top of the screen, with less repeated between the header and the card.
• Softer scrolling everywhere. On Now, Upcoming, and Done, items gently dissolve at the top edge as you scroll instead of getting cut off by a hard line.

Recently in Beacon:
• The Parking Lot drawer on the Done tab opens and closes like a real drawer, and follows your finger when you drag it
• Capture understands more phrasings, so a quick thought becomes a reminder however you say it
• Task steps show right on the Now card and on your watch
• Smoother long lists, a fix for a rare freeze when opening the app, and no more duplicate reminders from quick taps

### 1.0.7 — 2026-07-20

The Parking Lot got a real glow-up. The shelf on your Done tab now opens and closes like a proper drawer, and you can drag it with your finger. Pull it up, flick it down, it follows along.

Also in this update:
• Smoother scrolling on the Done and Upcoming tabs, especially with a lot of reminders
• Fixed a rare freeze that could happen when opening the app
• Fixed a case where tapping quickly could create a duplicate reminder
• Small reliability improvements throughout
