## What is BeAKid?

BeAKid-Brain transforms screen time into learning time. When your child has been using their favorite apps for a set amount of time, BeAKid-Brain pauses access and presents an age-appropriate question. Answer correctly to unlock the apps and keep playing.

HOW IT WORKS
Parents set up a child profile with their grade level (K-12), choose subjects (Math, English, SAT Prep), and select which apps to monitor. Set a time interval — 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours. When time is up, those apps are paused until your child answers a quick question correctly.

SMART QUESTIONS, NOT BUSY WORK
Every question is aligned to Common Core standards and tailored to your child's grade. The adaptive difficulty system adjusts automatically — if your child is struggling, questions get a little easier. If they're on a roll, the challenge increases. Choose from curriculum tracks like Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Grammar & Writing, Literature & Reading, Vocabulary Builder, and SAT Prep.

The kid-facing experience is designed to feel like a game, not a chore. Earn XP and level up. Collect Brain Coins and spend them in the rewards shop. Unlock 30+ badges for streaks, accuracy, and speed. Track daily challenges and compete against your own personal best. Age-adaptive themes make it feel right whether your child is in kindergarten or high school.

BUILT FOR PARENTS
The parent dashboard gives you full control. Add multiple children with different grades and subjects. See accuracy stats, streaks, and progress at a glance. Set up custom rewards your child can earn with Brain Coins — extra screen time, a trip to the ice cream shop, or anything you choose. Customize the shield popup with a personal photo and message for your child.

TOOLS TO HELP KIDS THINK
Scratch Pad lets kids draw and work through problems with Apple Pencil or their finger. Think Aloud uses voice-to-text so kids can speak their reasoning out loud. Hints give a nudge before answering. Explanations teach the concept after a wrong answer.

BeAKid-Brain is COPPA compliant. We never sell data. No ads, ever. Screen Time monitoring uses Apple's Family Controls framework and runs entirely on-device.

What's new in 1.2:
- Rebuilt the parent/child onboarding flow for a smoother first-time setup
- Parents now pair the child's phone first, then pick which apps to shield — so the app picker shows the child's apps, not the parent's
- Added a live setup checklist so parents can see exactly what the child still needs to finish (pair phone → confirm parent → grant Screen Time → set passcode)
- Anti-phishing safeguard on the child's phone: it shows the parent's name and asks the child to confirm before pairing
- Dashboard now shows setup reminders for any child whose phone isn't fully paired yet
- Bug fixes and performance improvements

### 1.1 — 2026-04-14

Major update — rebuilt the parent ↔ child connection from scratch.

- Each phone now has a clear role: parent or child. Set once during onboarding.
- New pairing flow: generate an invite link on the parent's phone, tap it on the child's phone to connect them.
- Screen Time Passcode setup guidance added to make sure restrictions stick.
- App selections now sync across devices — pick the shielded apps once on the parent phone and the child phone picks them up automatically.
- Misc stability fixes and polish.
