You ALWAYS have to leave a message and then pray they call back the next day (best case scenario). Locks you out. *2025-01-03* I was a long time customer of theirs when it was Garageio. I bought the replacement when that was end of life’s. This unit has been nothing but trouble. It chews up batteries like crazy. It frequently gives errors randomly like the controller requires a paired door sensor (it is) and the unit had too many failed open attempts. I also have a MyQ and that works flawlessly and rarely needs batteries. Getting locked out of the garage in the rain is the final straw. Thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention. ### 1/5 — Complete Garbage that will leave you locked out *2024-12-23* I purchased this after they discontinued the Garageio device service which worked flawlessly for 8yrs. I wish I could say the same about this device, but I’ve had nothing but problems since installing it this summer. There were problems with the first sensor which would stop working when the battery level got to 65% - which would happen within just a few weeks. After a few chats with support (someone in Mexico that would have to call you), they sent me a new sensor. It’s only been slightly better since then, although the sensor still chews through batteries. Now, I occasionally get a message that states “there have been too many failed open/close attempts, please push the button on the wall”. So, this morning, I use the app to close the door and try to open it 2min later and get the message above. Yet now I’m locked out of my house. I hope everyone reads this BEFORE buying this piece of junk. Find something better. **Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your feedback. I paid for a new device and installed it. Several times a week it gives the following error for no reason and will not let us open the garage door. I had to dumb down to an old router for this thing to be able to connect to it. Throw a little more support behind this app and the garage door opener. If the battery status is correct the 2 AAA batteries that I just installed into the door sensor will run out in about 3 months. ~10% in 1-2 weeks.. pairing with a door sensor error is every other time I try to open the garage door, if it’s not that the swipe up/down is completely unresponsive, I’ve gotten to the point where I just open the door to my garage and walk in. **Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM ASAP! ### 2/5 — Good try but need improvements! *2020-10-10* The setup is very flaky and really need improvement. If you move out of the setup screen, you need to start over again. If you go through the setup, Create an account, and as you try to scan the monitor, if you go back to home, cannot go back and setup again, it errors out saying device is already registered. If you already have a login account, there is no way add a controller. So looks like one account per controller is required. Easy installation and easy to use the app. Some reason I can’t link my Alexa to to my account. It gives me the option to allow or not allow, but it will not let me do anything else from there. Opening and closing the door is easy, swipe up or down and I love the auto close feature. Only complaint, Apple Watch app just closes when trying to open it. Not sure why it won’t work. But app works in iPhone and iPad without issues. Spent over an hour trying to connect my “Smart Controller” only to have it connect to my neighbors…. So now I can open and close my neighbors garage but not my own. Thing is a complete waste of money and honestly a security issue! I now have to sit on the phone with them to remove my neighbors garage from the app. Do not buy unless you want to give random people the ability to open and close your garage door! Worked for a couple weeks, no problem. All of the sudden, everyone in the family can no longer use the app. We can open/close by logging in through the mobile browser or on a desktop…but the app itself won’t do anything. Tried deleting and reinstalling. Now it won’t let us login. Tried resetting password, fails to send a reset link. Nothing on the app is working. The app malfunctions when you need it. I have MyQ and Aladdin and they are much more reliable. Recently received repeated notifications that this app has a new version but guess what, the stupid developers have forgotten to build in the procedures to even update itself! The transition to Beam was seamless and the install was straight-forward and easy. First of all, I had no idea at the time I got it that chamberlain charged a subscription fee to use their app! Ridiculous! Not to mention their app was sub par and not straightforward at all. I found beamUP openers on Amazon and was sold when they mentioned no subscription fees. The app is a huge improvement from what I had been using. I get notifications every time my door has been opened which is helpful to know when my kids get home from school. The UI is also really good. I haven’t found any issues with either the opener or the app. Well executed! ### 5/5 — No Subscription, No More Keys *2020-02-19, version v3.2.20* I ordered a beamUP Smart Controller for my garage because I was sick of the subscription fee with myQ. Unlimited users is really useful when you have a big extended family. No keys is awesome. Walking the dog with my phone, air pods, leash, poo bags, tennis ball, etc. is enough without needing to bring my keys too. ### 5/5 — No more worries *2020-01-25* Once it is set up, it is a relief to know that we can be assured our garage door is closed and if it isn’t to be able to close it without having to drive all the way back to close it.
