I just signed up and linked my card then anytime I normally made a purchase for lunch at dig inn or Inday they sent me a push notification to allow me to pick which non profit I could support. I can’t believe it’s free and these awesome businesses are supporting these causes. The interface is really easy and intuitive to use (my mom loves it too!). I would recommend to anyone who wants to feel like they are part of a community and making a difference. Additionally I have discovered few brands through the app - I had never been to inday before using beam but now I go all the time (totally delicious!). Wish this were available on the west coast !! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — limited options *2018-07-20* extremely limited options. i downloaded this app believing i could use this at any restaurant i wanted for any charity i choose. too bad i can only use this app at the following places ONLY: dos toros, dig inn, think coffee, or inday go go. and i can only choose the following causes: local community support, public health, education, girls & women, sustainability, child advocacy, and disaster relief. all of these are great causes but im particularly passionate about animal welfare and there is NO option for that. also i don’t eat at any of those businesses. its unfortunate there aren’t more options :( **Developer response:** Hi there- thanks for this feedback and sorry to hear the Beam experience wasn’t what you expected! They send me push notifications and spam me all the time but when I go to donate, their app doesn’t function properly. Really great idea but sadly they seem to fall short. **Developer response:** Hi there- thank you so much for joining an early version of the app and we’re sorry for the disappointing experience you had. We’ve completely changed our system so that users don't have to experience this type of frustration anymore. Previously, users unlocked a donation based on their location when they were inside of a Beam partner store, and due to location accuracy issues, we heard users were getting notifications sometimes when they weren’t in a Beam partner location. We therefore changed our system so that you can donate for free with purchases at your favorite stores. By linking your credit or debit card to your Beam account, users now only unlock a donation when they make a purchase as usual at a Beam partner with their linked card. You still don't have to change anything about how you pay, but now there's a really high level of consistency and accuracy for our users, who've reported a really positive experience.
