## What is Beam?

Tilt the mirrors. Route the light. Collect every gem.

Beam is a calm mirror puzzle built around one idea: you get one shot.

Every board gives you a lamp, a handful of mirrors and a set of gems. Turn each mirror to send the light where you want it, then fire once. Either the beam takes every gem or it does not. There is no undo, no timer breathing down your neck, and nothing to react to. Just you working out the route before you commit.

WORK IT OUT BEFORE YOU FIRE
The light does not show you where it is going. That is the whole game. You have to trace it in your head, corner by corner, and be sure. Get it right first time and you take three stars.

TWO MINUTES A BOARD
Levels are short by design. Play one waiting for coffee, or lose an hour to the back half. Thirty-eight hand-tuned boards that start gentle and end genuinely hard, and it keeps generating fresh ones long after those run out.

COLOUR, WALLS AND FROZEN LIGHT
New pieces arrive slowly, one at a time, each explained the first time you meet it. Filters that tint the beam. Gems that only accept their own colour. Walls that stop light dead. Mirrors already pinned in place, whether you like it or not.

A BOARD WORTH CLIMBING
A fresh daily leaderboard resets every midnight. Play well and watch your name climb. Powerups exist if you want them, but every one you use costs a star, so buying your way up is not a thing here. The only way to the top is solving boards properly.

NO ACCOUNT, NO SIGN-UP
Open it and play. No email, no password, nothing to fill in. It works offline, on a plane, in a lift.

BUILT TO BE PLAYED ON A PHONE
Portrait, one-handed, sixty frames a second. Sound and haptics you can switch off. Reduced motion honoured. Colour never carries meaning on its own: a right or wrong shot is told by movement as well as colour, and the faces differ by shape, not hue.

Beam is free and supported by ads. A small banner while you play, a short ad between levels, and an optional video you can choose to watch for coins. "Remove ads" in the shop turns all of it off for good.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.6 — 2026-09-24

Fixes a bug where the banner ad could fail to load for a whole session, most often the first time you opened the game.

"Remove ads" in the shop still turns every advert off for good.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-09-14

Fixes an ad that could get stuck on screen and refuse to close, which left the only way out as force-quitting the game. That one was ours and it is fixed.

Ads are also quiet in the right way now: Beam's music stops while an ad plays and comes back the moment it ends, instead of playing over the top of it.

Also in this one:
- A subtitle and a rewritten App Store page, so the listing finally says what the game actually is.
- Corrected two things the old page claimed that were not true.
- The video you watch for coins gets the same fixes as the rest.

"Remove ads" in the shop still turns every advert off for good.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-13

Housekeeping. No changes to the game itself in this one.

The App Store page has new screenshots and two short videos, so you can see the bonus boards, the avatar shelf and the music library before you install rather than stumbling on them a week in.

If you are already playing, there is nothing here you need. Thank you for playing Beam.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-12

Ads are here, and so is the switch to turn them off.

Beam is free, and ads are what pay for it. You will see a banner on the menus and a short ad between levels. Nothing interrupts a puzzle you are in the middle of.

You can also watch a video by choice to double a bonus reward or top up your coins. That one is always optional, and the reward is never held back waiting for it.

Do not want any of it? "Remove ads" in the shop turns all of it off permanently, and Beam Forever includes it.

Also in this update:
- A new "Ad privacy choices" row in Settings, so you can change your mind about what you agreed to.
- Fixed the coin amount overlapping the powerup icons on the larger shop bundles.
- Beam now tells you when a new version is out.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-11

Fixed a line in the shop that wrongly said prices were placeholders and nothing was charged. Purchases have always worked. The sentence was left over from testing and should never have shipped. Sorry.

New in this update:

A scrubber on the music screen, so you can see how far through a track you are and jump anywhere in it. It works on samples of tracks you have not bought yet too.

Four more animals on the avatar shelf: Owl, Penguin, Elephant and Hedgehog. Twenty faces now.

Replaying a bonus board you have already won no longer looks like it is paying you a second time. It shows what the box held, and says so.
