### 3/5 — iPad compatible

*2019-07-16, version 2.3.2*

Is there compatibly with iPad yet

### 2/5 — Ouch

*2018-10-07, version 1.7.2*

I was expecting a far more rich intuitive user experience. Why hasn't this been field tested? One of my devices will update one will not. Please adjust power setting to a more user friendly setting. Can it not find or locate other devices in the area? Please update.

Waiting on update. For the few that have left updates so far I encourage you to look at Zello. Look at there set up and UI interface. Lots could be learned form is simplicity and function. Also please update the dull colors on the app. At least give the user the opportunity to select other options. I understand this is a work in progress and I requested early on to assist with ideas on UI and actually physically testing hoping to make adjustments before the release. I am at your service and want to see this little guy rock, otherwise I wouldn't have funded the program.

10/7/18 still cannot get the updates to work.

### 2/5 — Doesn't work with wifi only devices

*2018-05-12, version 1.4.0*

Originally the app worked on my Wi-Fi-only iPad. It works on my phones fine. But that must have changed, because a few updates back it said my IPad 4 mini (a new device) was "no longer compatible" with the app - so I can no longer get updates for this device only.

One of the key features I had wanted was to use with this iPad... long life and larger mapping for the central node out of the many devices. But now I see in the description only the cellular models are supported? Doesn't that seem ironic given the very purpose of what these (awesome) devices are for? Why should they need cellular models? I couldn't find anything on the website and I'm just left with an old version.

EDIT // (5-12-18) // Revising the review - still no update to the IOS build/release compatibility list more than a year later, despite the developer’s response, so the devices *still* cannot be used by many Apple devices, including WiFi-only iPads....

### 3/5 — Finally functional!

*2018-02-14, version 1.3.1*

Looking forward to a real world test this weekend but I’m thrilled to see that the software is now working with the hardware. Will update with higher rating after I have a chance to see range and functionality in the field.

### 4/5 — Finally works.

*2018-02-14, version 1.3.1*

App got a bit of a facelift too.

### 4/5 — iOS 11 Problems Fixed

*2018-02-08, version 1.3.1*

Thank you for working with Apple to get everything working in iOS 11!

### 4/5 — Big improvement

*2018-02-01, version 1.2.5*

Beartooth has finally gotten the bugs out of the iPhone version. You can do voice or text in Airplane mode with Wifi turned off. Haven’t tested the range, however.

### 4/5 — Best line of defense !

*2018-01-30, version 1.1.4*

When out of typical cell service range or experiencing overloaded towers, Beartooth is the best way to maintain communication on the slopes, hiking or the recent fires in Cali. Must have for first responders!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t stay connected

*2018-01-26, version 1.1.4*

I bought 4 of these early on. They have never worked. They just don’t stay connected via Bluetooth with the hardware.

### 1/5 — Big let down

*2018-01-22, version 1.1.4*

I really wanted this product to work. My whole k-9 search and rescue team got these to replace our radios only to be let down when we found out they will not work with Apple phones.

### 1/5 — Lost hope

*2018-01-22, version 1.1.4*

Considering this app has not been touched for months despite the company claiming they were visiting apple I have lost all hope in this potentially great product

### 2/5 — Keeps disconnecting

*2018-01-21, version 1.1.4*

Keeps disconnecting.... doesnt work when i need it.... after 300$ plus fix your crap 😡

### 1/5 — Just doesnt work

*2018-01-20, version 1.1.4*

Wont stay connected to device.
Cannot find another device in same room

It just does not work. Period. I have four lousy batteries with orange lights. Nothing.

Another kickstarter waste of money.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2018-01-17, version 1.1.4*

Is there less than one star available? App doesn’t work with iOS 11 and it’s been 4 months since the last app update. Seriously? Are you just abandoning iOS support? You should say so on your website and stop selling (useless) hardware. All other Bluetooth devices I have work fine with iOS 11 and have since the day it came out. Ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Beartooth Doesn’t Work

*2018-01-14, version 1.1.4*

I ordered three pairs of these. When I went to the Beartooth website to get started the website informs me that the product I bought does not work with my iPhone IOS 11. It would’ve been nice to have gotten an email from Beartooth a few months ago warning me to not upgrade to iOS 11. I don’t know how this app works since it doesn’t even connect with the product I just blew $750+ on.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t worn on iOS

*2018-01-13, version 1.1.4*

I funded the earlier part of their product introduction by purchasing 6 Beartooth. Unfortunately, all I have at home are apple devices and I am unable to use them since they keep dropping off the Bluetooth connectivity. They definitely need to address the issues with Bluetooth and iOS. I am so frustrated there seem to be no update or communication from the company on how long is going to take them to address the issue.

 Extremely disappointed!!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2022-09-07*

Useless and doesn’t work

### 1/5 — Overpriced phone charger

*2020-10-19, version 3.2.1*

I supposed these guys from the beginning. Purchased a set on Kickstarter years ago. I so wanted this to work but after trying to use this several times and being very disappointed and frustrated I ended up throwing them in the trash. Don’t waste your money.

### 1/5 — 30 minute disconnect

*2019-12-01, version 3.2.1*

Purchased from Kickstarter campaign. I was originally told that there was a problem in how iOS had changed their Bluetooth strings and Beartooth would work with Apple to correct the issue. We just went skiing over a year later and all three of our phones disconnect after half an hour (6s, 6s+, & X). Very disappointed!!

### 1/5 — Total Fail

*2018-09-16, version 1.6.2*

Purchased 4 units about 1.5 Years ago hoping to get voice and text with my family when out of cell range. Initial texts with the units under iOS10 was dismal at best, limited use range vs what’s suggested by the manufacturer (can yell to the other user easier), audio Intelligibility was horrible, user interface had a dated look and limited use.

With iOS11, system completely broke.

Many months later Beartooth released a software and firmware update. With high hopes I installed and updated the units, STILL A BIG FAIL. BEARTOOTH YOU GET A BIG F.

Firmware updates on three of four units, with a fail on one that can’t recover. A test of two units finds the same frustrations as previously discovered, these devices are horrible and work so sporadically they are useless.

I’d sell mine but don’t need the negative feedback they would surely bring me. They are not worth their weight as a rechargeable battery, so I have 500.00 of Trash.

### 1/5 — Junk

*2018-07-30, version 1.6.2*

These devices and app do not work.

### 1/5 — App crashes when you scan for other users

*2018-03-04, version 1.3.1*

Crashes every time you scan for other users.

Also no longer can show battery of beartooth

### 1/5 — Bluetooth Hell

*2018-02-26, version 1.3.1*

The current release of the app causes my Apple watch to continuously reboot. The app will not stay connected to the Beartooth. The app has to be closed and memory flushed to correct the issue with my Apple watch. It also impacts the Airpods connectivity to the iphone.

### 1/5 — P.O.S. Do not waste our money!!!

*2018-02-02, version 1.2.6*

Like many people that jumped in early, I waited for almost a year to receive 4 units. When I finally got them in hand, I just updated my Apple 6s Plus to IOS 11 two days prior. After exchanging many e-mails with Beartooth and Apple Support they keep getting the same story, that it is IOS problem. I’ve received News Letters that the problem should be resolved.... Nope! Eager to get these working I have promptly install all updates as rolling back was not an option, still no joy!

As of 02/02/2018 I’m now running iPhone X and just tried after installing 11.2.5 and once again still nothing.

Regarding the Battery, it will charge your phone (if you use it in the same day) the units can’t hold a charge more the two - three weeks out. So if you was hiking or got lost or just lite camping your screwed!

### 1/5 — Total junk

*2018-01-31, version 1.2.5*

I bought this 7 months ago and it still isn’t working. Not trustworthy. Total junk. Doesn’t work or hold up to anything they have marketed.

### 1/5 — Total Let Down!!!

*2018-01-28, version 1.1.4*

Took 6 weeks to get. Then there was a note in the box about pending apple fixes and to just leave them on the chargers until we hear back from apple. It’s been two weeks now and not a word from Beartooth. Great idea but they do not work and we should have been warned. This was a great idea but has been a total let down. What a bummer!! I will be shipping them back.

### 5/5 — Great offline topo maps

*2017-07-15, version 1.0.9*

My favorite feature by far is the map feature. It works without a device connected. The app itself seems to be in active development with improvements every week. The device has worked great with my phone, simply charge, pair, and throw there device in a bag of pocket and it works!

### 5/5 — Better than advertised!

*2017-05-09, version 1.0*

So excited to get my Beartooth! Out of the box setup was simple and up and running in 2min. Voice quality was excellent and much better than any walkie talkie I've used. Can't wait to use this on my next adventure. #offthegrid

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2017-05-09, version 1.0*

Love the layout they created and all the graphics! Can't wait to get out there and use my beartooth. The map/location feature is awesome!
