### 4/5 — Good app

*2019-09-25*

Nice little app to go with the Beastmaker. The only thing I would say that would make it easier to use, would be a quick description of the different type of finger techniques used. The pictures are good but a little small. Otherwise it’s a great training tool.

### 4/5 — Super helpful but Missing Grade Conversions

*2019-07-07, version 2.0.1*

This is a great app and quite helpful getting me off my butt...but I don’t think it would be a very hard addition to be able to choose your grade scale of choice. As someone who lives and predominantly climbs in California, it would be nice to have the Yosemite Decimal Scale and Hueco V-Scale as I just don’t have the Font Scale down.

Thanks for making this! Looking forward to future updates.

### 4/5 — Basics

*2019-02-20*

Good app to go along with designed hangboard.
Little training programs with timer etc.

Only downfall is that the app timer stops if u leave the app.

### 4/5 — Great app, need ability to leave app & keep timer running, and apple watch support!

*2018-10-04, version 2.0.1*

Five stars when you’re able to leave the app and keep the timer running for those of us that want to work on other training during rests, take notes, etc... Also, watch support! Otherwise, great stuff!

### 3/5 — Not bad. Not great either.

*2017-09-05*

No problems with crashing etc, but some analytics (eg improvement trends over time) would be very useful. Perhaps using questions like, "did you fail?", as the qualitative measure, instead of a percentage of failure which is a bit obscure.
It's a paid app, and the beastmaker itself is pricey as well... Can't be that hard to improve a simple app like this right.

### 3/5 — Good app

*2017-03-08, version 2.0.1*

Good app! Easy to use with their hang boards. Sometimes pausing a workout and skipping hangs messes up the order of hangs and it redoes a hang or skips too far forward. Also would like a grip definition page where each grip is explained in detail with tips and tricks. It has the grips at the bottom of the page but I have no clue what they are without looking it up on their website-who wants to stop their workout to look this up? And the diagram doesn't show it too well. Overall good app just need to add a grip definition page!

### 5/5 — I love this app!

*2017-02-15, version 2.0*

This is an amazing app to complement the amazing beastmaker hangboard! I purchased the beastmaker 2000 thinking I was a semi-decent climber but was quickly humbled with the most beginner workout. I would please ask if you could add a workout, perhaps in the 5 range. I am not very strong on my back two fingers so I think incorporating an offset routine and possibly a more pull up centric routine would be amazing to try. I have no complaints to this app at all and the update was fantastic! Only things on my wish list for the future

### 5/5 — Great update

*2017-02-14*

Great to have the update. This is my go to training hangboard app. Latest update makes a big improvement.

### 3/5 — Doesn't save workouts!

*2017-01-04*

I spent an hour+ doing a full workout and at the end of it i was relieved and clicked "done". However after this, when I went back to the main page and back to the same workout it didn't save anything! Please can you fix this bug please!

### 4/5 — A motivational workout

*2016-10-09*

Pity even the easiest difficulty workouts are far too hard for a beginner!

### 1/5 — Thanks but no thanks

*2020-07-15, version 3.2.1*

I used to use this app as a general timer for tabata. The recent update has made the app super specific to hanging. Making it totally useless for me now. I paid for the app and now I can’t use it.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2020-02-09*

Complicated better apps out there

### 1/5 — Upgrade not helping me

*2019-10-11, version 3.1*

Can we have a simple repeater cycle timer back? This new version is too complex - hand positions specific boards etc....
An option for simple timer would be better for me.

### 1/5 — Update is Trash - Want Money Back

*2019-09-24, version 3.0*

The update did away with the custom timer. That was my favorite feature. Now I have to try to make custom workouts? And anytime I need to edit something I have to start over? Devs, please refund me. You trashed a good app.

### 1/5 — Liked it originally but hate the update

*2019-09-24, version 3.0*

I use the rock prodigy hangboard so I was using this app for just the timer. The timer used to be set up such that I could open the app and the time configuration that I had previously used was stored; now I need to change the timer each time I do my workout.

### 3/5 — Great trainer, poor with multi-source audio.

*2020-11-21, version 3.2.1*

Yes, I train with it and I’m very happy with the exercise aspect, but as others have mentioned there is not an option to turn off the exercise prompt sounds, which ruins listening to music/podcast/audiobook while hangboarding. Please give us an update that fixes this and I’d be happy to update my review to reflect the change.

### 3/5 — Custom timer???

*2019-11-16, version 3.2.1*

Please bring back the custom timer!! That was the best hangboard timer available. Why was it removed from the app?

### 3/5 — Backward step

*2019-09-30*

Just upgraded the app to the latest version and found to my massive disappointment that I cannot have more than 3 sets in my custom workout!
The old version had no problems handling my 4 set lunchtime hang protocol.
Some of the other features sound good, especially the rest timer continues whilst you check messenger or an email.
However it looks like I now need to split my workout into two separate ones to fit the app! Frustrating.

### 3/5 — For god sake let us turn off the sound

*2018-10-23, version 2.0.1*

Awesome app when it comes to work outs. Love having the timer and the visuals for the holds and such, I’ve seen a huge improvement in my climbing ability since using the BeastMaker, when I started I couldn’t make it through the first workout (was leading 5.10 at that point) now I’m into high reps of the 3rd workout and have started leading 5.11’s within months without using a gym, just outdoor and this badboy, great board, good app!

BE WARE: if you like to listen to music, or a podcast, or anything to keep your mind engaged while you workout. . . this app will severely disappoint. There is no setting to turn the sound off so it will interrupt anything else you are playing from your phone. Super bummer in my book but maybe that’s just me.

### 3/5 — Tough!

*2018-05-23*

Good app but be warned the grades/settings are tough. It would also be good that if fast forwarding to rest times that it gave you a two or 3 second countdown, as it’s not possible to start your reps with one hand on the phone.
Get beastly

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app, simple, just follow along.

*2021-07-13, version 3.2.1*

Just what you need, simple, no hassle, just follow along.

### 5/5 — Age Restriction Lifted

*2019-09-25*

A great app for using the best finger board available!

The wooden boards are smooth and therefore cause no damage or blisters on soft skin! My young son once entered a climbing competition where all the holds were new at the climbing centre. He left with cuts and worn skin and he was not the only one many parents complained. The Kindest holds to climb with are woodies after all

### 5/5 — Great App that improves your core and finger strength fast

*2019-02-21*

Hi, I use this App/Beastmaker board in addition to my climbing sessions (when I don’t have time to get out or to the wall). It keeps my current fitness levels high and definitely improves my finger strength and finger placements on holds as really makes you focus on exact positioning. I like to do weights and other core exercises in the rest periods to super set the workout. Well worth the cash, effort and sweat!

### 5/5 — Simple and effective

*2019-02-09, version 2.0.1*

A very functional timer app with nice visuals and sounds. There are not a ton of options, but it works well and is easy to use. Exactly what I want out of this app. The hang board is the best I’ve ever used.

### 5/5 — Love the upgrade

*2018-12-21, version 2.0.1*

I’m pretty stubborn about updating my apps, but in this case I wish I did it months ago. This new upgrade is great! My only complaint about the app is that any time I’m starting to hang again after taking time off for work I’m too weak to do the easiest grade. Not a huge deal - I just go to custom workout and write my hangs on a piece of paper, but it would be nice to get a beginner workout or two on the main list. Also another sweet upgrade would be custom workouts where you can choose from the list of exercises instead of just the time/reps/etc.

All in all a worthy app to get if you own a BeastMaker hangboard

### 5/5 — Great tool.

*2018-07-19, version 2.0.1*

Great tool. I really appreciate the app to help as well. I do wish that you could choose font or V scale so I don’t have to look it up all the time. It would also be cool to record and further customize personalized workouts.

### 5/5 — Great training companion

*2018-03-15, version 2.0.1*

I’ve always wanted to do a pull up and have been wanting better finger strength, but finger boards have been pretty intimidating to me. I would play around for a bit before feeling like I didn’t know what I was doing and getting frustrated. Then a friend turned me onto this app and it has provided me with the training plan I’ve been waiting for! I’m already showing progress. Worth the money.

### 5/5 — Beastmaker

*2017-12-07, version 2.0.1*

This is a fantastic training tool and it fulfills a coaching function as it tells you what holds to grab when and for how long. I use the 7C workout and there is a ton of room for improvement!

### 5/5 — Simple, functional, flexible app

*2017-09-02, version 2.0.1*

This app makes hangboard training much easier and more consistent than using a stopwatch or simple timer. The sound and color cues are great--makes it easy to know when to stop and start each rep and set. The custom timer is useful when working with hang boards or workouts other than the BeastMaker.

My only feature request is a 30-second warning (or custom warning) instead of the shorter 5 (or so) second warning before a set. Gives you more time to run back to the board and get weights hooked up if you're multitasking during rests!

### 5/5 — Great timer app even if you don't have a Beastmaker.

*2017-06-13, version 2.0.1*

I'm poor and I don't have a Beastmaker, but I have been training on an old Woodgrips hangboard for a couple months. I used the stopwatch on my phone and could only manage to do a 10 seconds on, 10 seconds off reps with 2 minute rests, due to my mathmatically challenged brain. This app takes all the counting out of the session and makes it SUPER easy to design a workout no matter your ability level or hangboard you're using. There are hundreds of hangboard workouts on the internet. Use this app to make it easier to get your training in. Cheers to Beastmaker for putting this out there.
