## What is BeatSleep?

BeatSleep does one thing. Your Apple Watch reads your heart, then vibrates on
your wrist just under your own rate. Your pulse follows the vibration down, and
you fall asleep.

No sound, and nothing to watch. The screen exists only to prove it is working,
and it fades away once you no longer need it.

HOW A NIGHT GOES

For the first 45 seconds nothing vibrates, while BeatSleep measures the rate you
are actually resting at. Then the cadence anchors there and sheds four beats
every ten minutes, staying just under your pulse: far enough to lead, close
enough to be followed. If a noise wakes you, it stops pulling and re-anchors to
your real heartbeat within a minute.

Apple Watch gives an app only a handful of vibration patterns, and most carry a
tone through the speaker. BeatSleep uses the one that does not, so the person
beside you sleeps through your night.

The night closes itself five minutes after your pulse has settled. A hard
fifteen minutes, or the whole night, are yours to set instead.

IN THE MORNING

Health will tell you that you slept seven hours. BeatSleep will tell you that
forty minutes of them were awake in eleven separate pieces, how long you took to
fall asleep, and how far your pulse fell below your resting rate. It reads Apple
Health, so there is something to show you on the very first morning.

ON YOUR HOME SCREEN

A widget that leads with the figure you choose: how long the descent took, the
nights in a row, the lowest rate you held, or how closely your pulse followed
the vibration. And every night is in Spotlight, so you can ask for one in your
own words and open it. The index is built on your device and stays there.

NOTHING LEAVES YOUR DEVICES

No account. No server. No analytics, no advertising identifiers and no
third-party SDKs. Your heart rate is read from HealthKit on the watch, the
summary is computed there overnight, and it travels to your iPhone over Apple's
encrypted device link. If you turn on iCloud sync, your nights go to your own
private iCloud, in encrypted fields, never to us. You can export everything as a
file, or erase it for good, at any time.

BEATSLEEP PRO

Free leads three nights in any seven days, and they are whole nights: the same
descent, the same failsafe, the same morning summary. Pro lifts the count to
every night, and adds your full history, every month behind you, the Thrum and
Hush waveforms, a breath with your own four counts, iCloud sync, and the rest of
the colors.

BeatSleep Pro is €3.99 a month or €24.99 a year, billed to your Apple Account
and renewing until you cancel, which you can do at any time in Settings.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.13 — 2026-09-29

Where the weekend puts your night. The Sleep tab and each month now show how far the middle of your nights moves between the nights before a day off and the rest.

Daylight, against how long sleep takes. Your Apple Watch measures your time in daylight, and BeatSleep now shows it for the day before each night. Once there are enough nights, it also shows how long sleep took after your brighter days and after your dimmer ones.

Breathing disturbances, as Health reads them. On a Series 9, an Ultra 2 or later, Apple's own reading sits with the night's other readings, with Health's classification beside it and nothing added.

The score can be put away. In Advanced settings, hide the figure out of a hundred for a week or for good. Every night is still drawn; only the number goes, in the app and in the widget.

And a round of corrections. The Health permission text names everything that is read, the middle of the night no longer lands on noon when your nights sit either side of midnight, and several labels are fixed in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese.

### 1.12 — 2026-09-24

Small corrections to what the app says. The 4·7·8 pattern now describes itself accurately, minutes are written the way your language writes them, and a handful of labels read more naturally in Japanese, German, French and Portuguese.

### 1.11 — 2026-09-23

Fixes and performance improvements. Nothing new on the surface: this one is about the app doing what it already did, more accurately and with less work.

### 1.10 — 2026-09-22

The page-sized Nightprint widget draws the whole night. The biggest one, the height of a page on an iPhone or an iPad, was showing the figure on its own with none of the night's numbers anywhere. It has a layout of its own now: the date and the hours across the top, the figure with its score in the middle, and six readings along the foot.

Delete every night, in one press. It sits under the last night in the list, it says how many it is about to take before it takes them, and it counts every night this device holds rather than the ones on screen. They go from your iCloud too, and they stay gone.

The Nightprint on a locked screen shows your night again. The file it reads was written in a way that could not be opened while the phone was locked, so a Lock Screen complication kept saying there was no night in Health when there was one.

And it is quicker where it was slow. Scoring a whole history was a pass over every other night, once per night; a year of months was worked out again every time the grid scrolled. The same numbers come out, for a fraction of the work, and two animations that were asking for every frame the display can make have stopped doing that.

### 1.9 — 2026-09-20

Your nights, in Spotlight. Every night BeatSleep has led is now something your iPhone can find: pull down on the Home Screen, ask for the night you went under fastest or the one last Tuesday, and it is there. The index is built on this device and stays on it, like everything else here.

The Last Night widget leads with the figure you choose. It has always shown the minutes it took you to go under, which is the number the app is judged on and not the number everybody is watching. Hold the widget, choose Edit, and it will lead with the nights in a row, the lowest rate you held, or how closely your pulse followed the vibration instead.

The Nightprint fills an iPad page. The portrait size iPadOS 27 added is the height of a sheet of paper, and a night drawn that big is the first one whose whole shape reads from across a room.

Lighter when your device is working hard. When the system says it is under pressure, the descent's orb draws a third of the frames. Nothing about the night changes: the vibration, the descent and what is recorded are the same, and the drawing is the only thing that gives way.

And if you have never felt anything on your wrist, the watch now says where to look. It is almost always one switch in the Watch's own settings, and BeatSleep had never been the thing to tell you so.
