## What is BeatSleep?

BeatSleep does one thing. Your Apple Watch reads your heart, then vibrates on
your wrist just under your own rate. Your pulse follows the vibration down, and
you fall asleep.

No sound, and nothing to watch. The screen exists only to prove it is working,
and it fades away once you no longer need it.

HOW A NIGHT GOES

For the first 45 seconds nothing vibrates, while BeatSleep measures the rate you
are actually resting at. Then the cadence anchors there and sheds four beats
every ten minutes, staying just under your pulse: far enough to lead, close
enough to be followed. If a noise wakes you, it stops pulling and re-anchors to
your real heartbeat within a minute.

Apple Watch gives an app only a handful of vibration patterns, and most carry a
tone through the speaker. BeatSleep uses the one that does not, so the person
beside you sleeps through your night.

The night closes itself five minutes after your pulse has settled. A hard
fifteen minutes, or the whole night, are yours to set instead.

IN THE MORNING

Health will tell you that you slept seven hours. BeatSleep will tell you that
forty minutes of them were awake in eleven separate pieces, how long you took to
fall asleep, and how far your pulse fell below your resting rate. It reads Apple
Health, so there is something to show you on the very first morning.

NOTHING LEAVES YOUR DEVICES

No account. No server. No analytics, no advertising identifiers and no
third-party SDKs. Your heart rate is read from HealthKit on the watch, the
summary is computed there overnight, and it travels to your iPhone over Apple's
encrypted device link. If you turn on iCloud sync, your nights go to your own
private iCloud, in encrypted fields, never to us. You can export everything as a
file, or erase it for good, at any time.

BEATSLEEP PRO

Free leads three nights in any seven days, and they are whole nights: the same
descent, the same failsafe, the same morning summary. Pro lifts the count to
every night, and adds your full history, every month behind you, the Thrum and
Hush waveforms, a breath with your own four counts, iCloud sync, and the rest of
the colours.

BeatSleep Pro is €3.99 a month or €24.99 a year, billed to your Apple Account
and renewing until you cancel, which you can do at any time in Settings.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.4 — 2026-09-09

The vibration lands as one thing again. On some nights it had started to hitch, arriving broken in two rather than as the single vibration it is meant to be, and every firmness on the bar was flattened into the same blur. All five stops mean what they say again.

A night can be deleted. Swipe a row in Nights and it goes, on this device and on every other one signed into the same iCloud. Deleted stays deleted: a night removed on the phone does not come back the next time the iPad syncs.

The wake window learns. BeatSleep reads what Apple Health already knows about when your nights actually end, and offers you a week that matches, one morning per weekday. It only ever offers. The week stays exactly as editable as it was, and a suggestion you turn down is not asked again.

The morning can be felt, heard, or both. The quickening that leads you up can carry a tone now as well as a vibration. Vibration is still what it does unless you say otherwise.

A night can run under its own protocol. Adjust for tonight, under the begin button, changes the firmness, the waveform, how the night ends and whether a breath comes first, for one night only. Nothing about it is saved, on either device.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-08

The month. On the first, the month that has just ended is worked out whole. A night Apple Health kept no record of stays a hole rather than an average.

A wake time for every day of the week. Tap a day to change it, hold to set several at once.

Firmness on a bar: five stops instead of three, with Faint, Felt and Firm marked.

Begin the night, or a breath, on your Apple Watch from your iPhone.

Any night in the list opens now: its descent, the floor it was aiming at, and what Health knew about the same hours.

Sleep balance counts both directions, so a week that came out ahead says so.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-05

Three whole nights a week, free. The free tier now leads three nights in any
seven days, and they are whole nights: the same descent, the same failsafe, the
same summary in the morning. Nothing is held back inside a night. The count is
on the watch before you start one, and when it runs out the app tells you the
day the next one is free rather than saying no. BeatSleep Pro lifts the count.

The vibration is never asked for above your pulse. A body that fell asleep
faster than the descent expected could be led at the rate it was measured at
while the sleeper was already sixteen beats below it — the tap asking a
sleeping heart to speed up. It now always sits under the heart it is leading.

A breath you can hear. Every breathing pattern can be led by vibration, by
sound, or by both, on the phone and on the wrist. The tone is written by the
app rather than shipped as a sample. The night itself is still never heard.

On the wrist. The watch has the breathing patterns, your own four counts with
Pro, and its own count of the free nights. Its settings no longer duplicate the
phone's, and the two ways a night can end are one section you can tell apart.
The complications say what is happening at last: while a night runs, the face
shows what the vibration is asking for and where it is heading.

Every night Health has, reachable. The Sleep tab gets a calendar: pick any date
back to the first night Apple Health holds and read that night in full, scored
against your own. Nights further back than a fortnight are part of Pro.

The sleep numbers are right. Two sources writing the same minutes, your watch
and your iPhone or any other sleep app, were being added together, so a night
could read as twice as long as it was and the hour to be in bed by was worked
out from it. Every night is now resolved to one timeline before anything is
counted, the way a sleep study is scored, and how much of your time in bed was
sleep, how long you take to drop off and how long you were awake for follow the
definitions a sleep laboratory uses. Settings has a new page saying where every
number comes from, with the paper or manual behind each one.

Pro is every night, your own four counts, the whole history, the Thrum and Hush
waveforms, iCloud between your own devices, and the rest of the colours.
Exporting your record is free.
