It just seems to fall apart whenever I plug it into AUM. It works for a few mins but then freezes if I try to make any visual changes like adding backgrounds and sometimes even when adding instruments. Find myself having to open it in stand alone mode to create new maps then opening them to play inside a host app. But I can’t make any changes without fear of freezing the app. I hope this gets fixed soon. I’d really love to rely on AUv3 mode for adding improv performances to my sequenced loops and beats and even doing sound design. I love you forever for finally releasing this set of really smart ideas to utilize your ipad into a smart trigger machine. Some features for roadmap (even if roadmap sounds great already): - Basic Sample Editing (Playhead select, start stop loop ...) - Rec in - Editor for Win/MacOS with Sample Import would be comfy Keep up the good work like a mad scientist! EDIT: Repurchased a new yearly subscription for 19,99, but app is still free when reopening. Reinstalling does not fix this problem, also not "restore purchases". Please fix this asap, since i bought the same thing for 19,99 twice without receiving anything! ### 5/5 — Finally AUV3 *2023-04-09, version 1.0.29* I bought the app! Why? Because it “FINALLY” has AUV3 support and couldnt be much happier. BeatSurfing 2 + Loopy Pro makes for an incredible live beat making experience. Used this on my last live performance and it truly was a hit with the crowd. Being able to use BF to play synths and samples in time with a sequence like a drum loop all within AUM, opens up new ways to create with Beat Surfer. At first glance it looks confusing but the tutorial vid is well thought out and gives insight on how to play it. After a minute or two it’s very addicting and I have so many ideas to incorporat this into my work…. BUT the lack of basic Audio Unit and IAA support on an Apple device keeps it on the shelf for me. ### 5/5 — The Future. *2022-08-31, version 1.0.18* People who have left negative reviews clearly don’t realize the power of this app or the roadmap of development because this is going to be the coolest drum sampler, performer, and rhythm synth you could ever ask for. Fix that, let me buy it and you get 5 stars ### 1/5 — Constantly crashing *2022-07-11, version 1.0.16* Seems like a fun app, but it’s a bummer that there’s no AUM support yet. After the latest update the app is crashing constantly. Can’t use it for more than a couple of minutes at the most. **Developer response:** Sorry for the crash issues you had in the past. We just put out a new update which adds AUv3 (therefor AUM support) and fixed a bunch of crashes. Please give it a try again and let us know how it goes. :) ### 1/5 — Nice… *2022-06-20, version 1.0.14* I noticed that the microphone is being used, even when I am not on the app. It looks like you are recording us. Also it is illegal to spy on kids under 13. ### 1/5 — Less Buggy, it’s a banger! *2022-06-17, version 1.0.14* Trying the free version out and just getting to many bugs. Sounds stops working when adding a new pad, app froze. Love the concept but can’t drop $$ if this is going to not give a good user experience. ### 2/5 — Something that should be straightforward *2023-07-07* Unfortunately i have to right this review as a warning. I saw a new map in latest update but didn’t see it after updating. Restarted ipad still did not see new map. Deleted and reinstalled the update but made the mistake of purchasing this years upgrade before doing so. After the reinstall the new map showed up but restore purchase did not work. After several reinstalls and reboots still nothing. Apple will not refund me $20. It’s been a week and nothing from the devs about how to resolve this. That’s money i should have spent on other music apps to use in my music production while out of country on vacation. So consider this my donation to you guys. Is this experience going to make me wanna purchase more music apps from the app store or upgrade BS2 in the future? Nahhhhhh, i’m good. ### 2/5 — Update! I have yet to test the functionality due to a crashing version that is basically unusable. ### 2/5 — Great idea lacking basic expected functions *2022-12-01, version 1.0.25* I absolutely love the tactile nature of this. Great results more easily achievable than in other apps. Organic play. Excellent stuff. But - there’s no simple or obvious way to take what you’ve done for use in any other app. Why can’t I use it in Audiobus, or IAA? With no way of exporting performances or even saving loop sessions, it’s effectively useless. If I’m missing something here and these features exist, do tell! ### 2/5 — OMG! Still no IAA or AUV3? *2022-11-03, version 1.0.22* Yes, I check every other day or so to see if BeatSurfing 2 has updated to include IAA or AUV3 only to be disappointed. Why? Because I actually WANT to buy this app! But I can not justify spending $30 on an iOS app that is missing the most BASIC feature, that other iOS music apps, of lesser cost, have implemented on the first release. Sorry y’all, but listen to the crowd: your next update needs to have either AUV3 or IAA (I recommend both). Awesome stuff and love the customizability in this one. Two things that I’ve come across day 1. 1) Please please please add an undo/redo button. That would shave off literally half of the setup time 2) When Xing out of the tutorial video, the app crashes… Every. Time. Please make a Mac version so you can export your project to audio on a Mac. Unfortunately, tho, I now have a bug where the clock is stuttering that makes it unusable. Hoping this will be fixed soon, as I was hoping to use this app in a performance next week. I really like it a lot. But I had a paid version (or was it an annual subscription?) and now it's "free" and an upgrade is supposed to cost 19.90 €. So far, so good, but why does the website show the "unlock forever" offer for 5.99 $? That's a relatively big difference. So it would be nice to hear what this is all about before I buy it again. Otherwise everything is cool, keep it up, great musical concept with lots of possibilities for sound tinkering and live use ### 5/5 — Brilliant app and one of few auv made for touch screen *2023-11-11, version 1.0.32* There are a lot of wonderful creative iaa apps that take great advantage of the touch screen and are not auv3 and then lots of auv3 that are like a computer app and don’t take advantage of how creative it can be with touch screen . This might be the first app that does both auv3 and is unique to a touch screen. It’s also very fun, so much learning and so much you can build . I love how I can build a groove box, make loops and also make live beats.
