### 3/5 — Has issues - use the website

*2024-11-11*

At the start you can only use it if you sign in. No option to make an account or redirect to your website to sign up so that’s confusing and probably deterring users.

Upon using the app, it was taking forever to load and add a data point. I wasn’t sure it went through so I did it again but turns out they both did. But that was only clear on the web version.

Overall the app and site could use some modernization.

### 2/5 — Forgot password??

*2024-05-20, version 6.6*

?

### 4/5 — Good but minimal features

*2023-07-19, version 6.3*

Please add a widget feature so you can see some progress data at a glance

Also, the home menu isn’t really useful if you only use one beeminder graph

### 4/5 — Great

*2023-07-08, version 6.3*

A great service, with a basic but functional app.

Can you please add back the button to trigger url minder to check the word count again? I now can only do that through the website.

### 4/5 — Essential companion

*2023-06-15, version 6.2*

My most important goals are tracked and encouraged through Beeminder. This app lets me see my progress and enter manual data. It reminds me of what I still need to make each day.

### 5/5 — Not perfect, but a great service

*2023-06-15, version 6.2*

The app isn’t perfect but the service as a whole is incredibly valuable. I wouldn’t know what I’d do without it.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2023-06-15, version 6.2*

Easy way to send and track data..

### 5/5 — My most needed app

*2023-06-15, version 6.2*

I’ve been using the app for about 5 years at least. It was immediately so helpful that I paid for a lifetime subscription. The financial consequences of not keeping to a goal are the incentive I needed- and the cost of derailing is never more than I am willing to pay since I can control the range.

### 5/5 — Worthy companion app

*2023-06-15*

Helps keep me on track with my commitments.

### 5/5 — Unique App that Works Great

*2023-06-15*

There’s nothing else quite like Beeminder on the market. Long story short, it lets you track progress on habits (or each chunk of a large goal) in a way that really helps psychologically motivate you to get that progress in, whether it’s five times a day or once a month. I have personally used it to finish work projects ahead of schedule, make steady progress on my master’s thesis, and much more.

Not only is the product unique, the company is unique as well. I’ve never heard of a single other company which publicly commits to visibly improving their product every single day; maintains cordial relationships with its customers (on forums, blogs, and support emails) while endlessly encouraging them to achieve their goals; and puts its money where its mouth is by using its own product to maintain commitments to users. What more proof could you need of the usefulness of Beeminder than the success of the company to date, which the founders have achieved by turning business metrics into their personal Beeminder goals?

If you have any interest in Quantified Self, this is THE app to use. Don’t delay.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2023-06-15, version 6.2*

I had been looking for this for years. Does exactly what I wanted.

### 5/5 — Works great, just know what you’re getting into

*2023-06-15, version 6.2*

At first glance, the service seems kind of scary: if you don’t do what you said you were going to do, you get fined. For loss-averse people like myself though, that can be a strong motivator.

As for the app, it works great, interfacing well with the website and always having up-to-date information. Where necessary it links out to the full website so you can complete more complicated tasks.

### 5/5 — Great for all of my goals

*2023-06-15, version 6.2*

I’ve used Beeminder to achieve so many goals that I’ve been putting off for a long time. I’ve improved so many aspects of my life such as with reading, working out, and researching. The Beeminder team and community members are also top-notch and are always there whenever I have questions or concerns.

### 5/5 — Best app for motivation and productivity

*2023-06-15, version 6.2*

I love this app. It really kicks my butt into gear to get work on what’s important to me.

### 5/5 — Great product

*2023-06-15, version 6.2*

Extremely useful app and service, have happily used Beeminder on various platforms for 10+ years.

### 5/5 — Unique and extremely valuable productivity tool

*2023-06-14, version 6.2*

Beeminder is a unique and innovative way to get more done. If you’re a procrastinator, give it a try. The closest other services are StickK and healthywager, but Beeminder is better, especially if you’re a quantitative type. You set up a goal and agree to pay a penalty if you don’t reach your goal. You can always weasel out of paying, but that defeats the purpose. The creators are very fair: if you stop using Beeminder, your subscription automatically ends. You can cancel just as easily as you can join. You can enter data yourself or set up any of dozens of APIs to enter data for you. Some canonical goals include losing weight, reducing your inbox, writing a novel, etc.

### 5/5 — Shortcuts!

*2023-06-14, version 6.2*

Great little interface to the Beeminder website. Now even better with support for iOS Shortcuts.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not working

*2024-11-23, version 6.6*

:(

### 1/5 — Useless - You have to do almost everything on their website

*2024-02-27, version 6.5*

Nice idea, very poor execution.

Signing up, payment, add/manage goals, all have to be done on their website, you can’t do it on the app.

### 1/5 — So complex!

*2020-07-21, version 5.6.4*

This app makes the simple act of building a to-do list complicated. Yet you can’t create an account directly within it. Get to the point, folks!

### 1/5 — Dreadful app - nothing in it at all

*2020-05-09, version 5.6.3*

I don’t have a clue what the app is supposed to have because it only has placeholders. It’s not actually functional. ‘Enter your goal from slug’. Nothing appears. It tells you that there is nothing there and to go to the website instead. The only other feature is settings, which isn’t a feature at all, whereby you can sort goals but can’t create them, so there’s nothing to sort. There’s a search function but there’s nothing to search for. It has a time zone that you can’t change. You can turn notifications on or off and you can sign out. That’s it. I have no clue what the point is. I’ve never seen such a poor app. It actually makes Ed’s app look good!

### 1/5 — You’re not taking my money!

*2020-03-29, version 5.5*

When I downloaded the app, I didn’t think they meant actual money! I’m already doing something like that! The more I don’t follow my goals, the more money I give to my college.

### 1/5 — Bad UI, worse UX

*2019-03-14, version 5.3*

Crashes all the time, no “done” button to quit the keyboard when entering values, graph takes ages to load... bad UI, worse UX

### 1/5 — Great idea, miserable execution

*2018-09-09, version 5.2*

This app behaves like it was coded by high schoolers. Worst of all, their awful syncing issues (like with Apple Health) cost you money. Perhaps intentional? Someone else needs to take this idea and do it right.

### 1/5 — Can't even sign in

*2018-07-25, version 5.1*

"Invalid credentials"

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2018-01-09, version 5.0*

The app just doesn’t work. I don’t know what to say. I’m running it on an iPhone SE that is completely up to date. Everything is blank on the first page. Only option I have within the app is to click on the settings button, which is no help. I’ve signed out and then in again. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app. The app has issues, I’m moving on.

### 1/5 — Crashes quickly

*2017-11-26, version 4.8*

I can’t even open the app up after trying multiple troubleshooting.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fantastic Service

*2026-01-25, version 6.7*

A companion app to the amazing beeminder service. Invaluable for managing beeminder habits

### 5/5 — Ultra praktisch, Super Kundenservice

*2024-09-21, version 6.6*

### 5/5 — Beeminder is the BEST

*2023-07-25, version 6.3*

I honestly don’t know what I’d do without Beeminder. (Actually, I do, because I didn’t have it for 28 of my 29 years on this earth, and I found it way harder to get stuff done.)

While the mobile app struggles a bit with refreshing data that is autogenerated from sources like Gmail and Toggl, it’s a helpful companion that I use mostly early in the day to check what goals I need to focus on that day. The full site is better, in my opinion, but I know the developers are working hard, so I’ll be patient, as I’m sure I’ll be using Beeminder for the rest of my life.

NOTE: if you have ADHD, this app is a must-have!

### 5/5 — Nothing worked. Until I found this.

*2023-07-23, version 6.3*

I was having issues with using my notebook for ADHD purposes. If I forget my second brain, what good is the notebook? Someone reminded me that I normally remember things that cost money and I searched for something that would add the weight of cost to my goals. Beeminder has done exactly that. I use my notebook at least two times a day now without fail! Five gold stars!

### 5/5 — live by the bee, die by the bee

*2023-07-08, version 6.3*

My one complaint about the beeminder app is that it's hard to check my goal fine print -- I was previously using the "share" button to pull up the goal on beeminder.com and check that way, but now the share button is gone too?? :(

Other than that, great app. I like that it's simple and not flashy -- it doesn't need to be slick or addictive; it just needs to work well for data entry and checking on my goals, which it does. Like a lot of Beeminder users I have ADHD, and historically I have sucked at doing normal life tasks due to executive dysfunction; Beeminder is the first of *many* apps, systems, and strategies I've tried that's actually gotten me to (among other things) consistently brush + floss my teeth every day and shower on a regular basis without intervention from a Real Adult.

### 5/5 — One of my essential apps

*2023-06-26, version 6.2*

A faithful rendition of the Breminder.com site (though I wish Beeminder.com had a different UI) and, as a result, one of my essential apps

### 5/5 — Motivates you to reach your goals

*2023-06-16, version 6.2*

Beeminder pushes you to follow the goals you’ve set for yourself, and track your progression with very neat graphs.
The principle makes it not for everyone, but if it works for you then it really pushes you to be a better self.

### 5/5 — One of the best productivity apps I used in my life

*2023-06-15, version 6.2*

Beeminder is a fantastic app for people who want to track their progress and hold themselves accountable for reaching their goals. The app is very easy to use and has a clean and intuitive interface.

One of the things I love about Beeminder is its unique approach to goal-setting. Rather than simply setting a goal and hoping to achieve it, Beeminder helps you stay on track by imposing financial consequences if you fail to meet your targets. This might sound harsh, but it's actually a very effective way to keep yourself motivated and accountable.

Another great feature of Beeminder is its integration with other apps and services. For example, you can connect Beeminder to your fitness tracker or to-do list app, and it will automatically track your progress and update your goals accordingly.

Overall, I highly recommend Beeminder to anyone who wants to take their goal-setting to the next level. Whether you're trying to get in shape, learn a new skill, or simply stay organized, Beeminder can help you stay on track and achieve your goals.

### 5/5 — Incredibly useful

*2023-06-15, version 6.2*

Beeminder is an incredibly useful tool for motivation and achieving goals. Their iOS app is merely used for goal tracking and not for payment — I hope it continues to be available for a long time! The web site is clear on the fact that users are signing up to pay if they don’t follow through on their commitments to themselves.

One reason this works is that humans are naturally highly loss averse – I have caught myself spending an hour working on a project that I really wanted to do, but the initial spark was a desire to avoid paying $5. The end result is a profound satisfaction with what Beeminder helped me accomplish.

I’ve used Beeminder for many years, and I’ve really embraced the idea that, as the app’s creators write, “Paying is not punishment.” Far from cheating it’s users, Beeminder is helping its users be true to themselves.

### 5/5 — Awesome service

*2023-06-15, version 6.2*

Beeminder is an awesome innovative service that has helped me keep my business on track, get (another) degree, keep myself fit & my house clean, among many other things over the last decade. The app is basic but a useful interface that makes the service much easier to use, especially by making it easier to update your goals using Shortcuts.
