I just noticed that notifications deliver late — usually for about an hour and even up to half a day — unless I open the app. I’d appreciate it if they arrive on time without having to open the app! ### 4/5 — IG without the reels *2026-08-24* This is THE app on iOS to keep the DMs from IG without having to get on the app and be exposed to the rest. It works flawlessly except for one minor nitpick, and it’s sending videos. I do understand that handling large files in an app is always a complex from a development point of view, and from what I gather, Beeper uses the IG Web’s API which can be limiting. From my personal stress tests, keep your videos to about 30MB and you should be good. Also be careful of batch sending as well. My only wish, for kids with strict parents, can you maybe add a calculator function? so that way you cant see messages without typing in the numbers? Or have a hidden folder thats impossible to access or even see without typing in certain things? ### 4/5 — Massively Improved *2026-08-04* I’ve been a user since the very beginning but gave up as I found the UI too clunky. Decided to try again and WOW what a difference. Absolutely incredible design and seems much more stable now. I only wish Apple would open up to enabling iMessage, or at least SMS to be able to add those chats and then it would be perfect. I've tried to reconnect and I've also tried the app on my iPad abc the desktop Mac app. Same issue. I can’t use it. ### 1/5 — So bad it’s caused bugs on mobile *2026-06-12, version 4.2.3* The Beeper desktop app is just bad. What’s worse is it seems like development on it is causing the mobile app to rot. I recently had my pins for discord disappear from mobile. The reason was apparently cause I hadn’t opened the desktop app in months. Cause I don’t want to. It’s janky devolves into being a massive resource hog. Beeper’s desktop and mobile apps are hitting a point where they’re almost worthless, regularly requiring you to have to open the chat app you hoped Beeper would replace. Want to get rid of discord or facebook messenger, too bad you’re not gonna with Beeper they’re not remotely close to even being in feature parity form a text perspective. Want to send a gif, it makes little sense to use either of Beepers apps where it just plain sucks to do it vs others. Facebook messenger used to be great on the service, now I can’t get it to work cause I want use messenger with a disabled Facebook account. I think you can do, could do in beeper, and they removed the function of. You’d think Beeper being based on Matrix would mean it has decent support for that? Nope. It’s abysmal, arguably the worst client you can use for Matrix in how much of Matrix’s basic chat functions aren’t supported. Love love love ### 5/5 — Saved me from Doomscrolling *2026-08-10* I’ve been so annoyed because every time I open instagram to reply to messages I end up doom scrolling. I tried downloading Meta’s messenger but it works terribly and doesn’t actually send things from your same instagram account, it was a whole mess. Beeper has a clean interface and perfectly syncs my instagram chats. Sending posts also works wonderfully, sometimes you don’t even have to actually click on the link itself since beeper transforms the post into an image.
