A self-writing movement journal for iPhone. Every morning, a nameless companion writes about how you moved through the world the day before - in landmarks, not numbers. WHAT THE COMPANION WRITES Statements. Not prompts, not questions, not goals. The companion uses mode-neutral verbs (covered, went, gained, returned) so the journal works for any way you move through the world. Distance and landmarks lead; steps and pushes are supporting detail. On an ordinary day: "The length of Central Park. Two kilometers, folded into yesterday." On rest: "About a kilometer went into yesterday. Rest stayed part of the record." On a milestone: "Kilimanjaro's height, gained yesterday. The rise was there before anyone thought to count it." POSTCARDS When a milestone appears in the record, Beheld turns the distance into an illustrated postcard and leaves it in the journal. On eligible iPhones, paid Personalization users receive postcards generated on the device for the milestone at hand. Otherwise, Beheld quietly uses one of the bundled illustrations. SENT A milestone postcard can leave the journal: as an iMessage, to one friend, with its caption beneath it. Once. To one person. Beheld doesn't see who. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Beheld reads Apple Health on the iPhone and writes there. Your movement history is not uploaded to Beheld, an ad network, or any server. Personalized writing and postcard images are generated on the device through Apple's Foundation Models and Image Playground. There is no account. No external analytics. No third-party SDKs. FREE, THEN PERSONAL The free version keeps writing every morning - no subscription, no time limit. An accuracy pass over the companion's writing, on both the library and the personal side. Landmark comparisons appear only when they truly match, a year's rise is no longer written as a single day's, lifetime figures carry their proper span, and each line keeps the period and units that make it true. This applies to new entries; the pages already in your journal stay as they were written. Milestone reveals hold steadier on screen, and turning off morning notifications now clears any that were still waiting. A few small fixes round out the release. ### 1.1.3 — 2026-07-14 v1.1.3 is about the writing. The companion's personal writing has been retuned. Phrasing is steadier, distance and landmarks lead more reliably, and quiet days are written with a quieter hand. Rest stays part of the record, as it always was. The morning journal, the milestone postcards, SENT, and the widgets all work as before. A few small fixes round out the release. ### 1.1.2 — 2026-06-25 v1.1.2 gives the journal a quieter place to live. The whole app has been redrawn: warm paper, a reading serif, more room around each entry; so the morning writing feels less like a screen and more like a page left out for you. The timeline, the milestone postcards, and the settings all carry the new look. How the companion writes has not changed. The morning journal, the milestone postcards, SENT, and the widgets all work as before. They simply read better now.
