## What is Behindr?

Behindr puts bold text BEHIND the subject of your photos and videos — that eye-catching, magazine-style effect where the words sit behind a person as if they were printed on the wall behind them. Add a word or a name and Behindr automatically tucks it behind the person (or pet, or object) so it looks like the text was there all along.

It all happens in one tap. Behindr uses on-device AI to find your subject and lift them off the background instantly — no manual cut-outs, no green screen, and nothing ever leaves your phone.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Pick a photo or video from your library.
2. Type your text.
3. Behindr slips it behind your subject automatically.
4. Fine-tune, then save to your camera roll or share.

MAKE IT YOURS
• 34 one-tap styles — POSTER, NEON, OUTLINE, Gold, MIAMI, CHERRY, VOGUE, Chalk and more. Tap one and the whole look is set for you.
• 22 display faces, 8 of them bundled with the app: Anton, Bebas Neue, Archivo Black, Alfa Slab One, Abril Fatface, Righteous, Pacifico and Permanent Marker — plus fourteen more your iPhone already has.
• Rich text styles: gradients, outlines, drop shadows, highlights, plus custom size, spacing, rotation and opacity.
• Move any layer behind OR in front of your subject for real depth.
• Animate text on video: pop in, fade in, slide in, drop in and more.
• 18 background looks. Five of them redraw the picture rather than recolour it — Cartoon, Anime, Comic, Sketch and Paint — and the other thirteen grade it: Blurred, Black & White, Vivid, Dreamy, Cyber, Sunset, Grain and more.
• Your video's original sound carries straight through to the export.

WORKS ON PHOTOS AND VIDEO
In photos, Behindr lifts any clear subject — a person, a pet, an object. In video it tracks people, holding them separated across every single frame so your text stays locked behind them as they move. If a clip has no person in it, Behindr tells you before you export rather than after.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
All of the AI processing runs entirely on your device. Your photos and videos are never uploaded to a server and never leave your phone.

FREE TO TRY
Every editing tool, style and background look is unlocked for free. Free exports include a small Behindr watermark.

BEHINDR PRO
Behindr Pro removes the watermark from your exports. Every editing tool, style and background look in the app is free to use, with or without Pro. Subscribers also get new look packs as they land. Pick the weekly or the monthly plan — both start with a free trial — or buy Behindr Pro once with a single purchase that never renews. The price for your country, the billing period and the trial length are all shown on the upgrade screen before you buy. No account and no sign-up, ever.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel yours any time in your device's Settings.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0 — 2026-09-29

• Nine new effects that treat your subject as part of the picture, not just something to hide text behind: clone them across the frame, make them giant or miniature, lift them off the ground, or light them in neon, chrome, glitch and double exposure. Pop-out lets them break past the edge of the photo.
• Seventeen new backdrops that Behindr draws itself — nine patterns (polka, stripes, checker, sunburst, blueprint, halftone, chevron, waves, confetti) and eight scenes. Until now every background came from filtering your own photo; these are made from scratch, so they work even when the original background is a mess.
• Not sure what to try? The suggestion strip offers combinations that suit the photo you have just opened.
• Neon now draws its own night rather than darkening your photograph, so light text stays readable on a bright picture.
• The whole app is now properly translated into German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Simplified Chinese. Some newer screens had been falling back to English.
• Fixed: tapping ⓘ on the Home screen sometimes bounced straight back instead of opening About.

### 1.9 — 2026-09-14

• Something not working? You can now tell me from inside the app — from the Home screen, from About, or right where a save or an export has just failed. Write a line about what happened and it comes to me with the app version and the phone model attached, so I can find it. Your photo, your video and the words on your picture are not sent, and there is no sign-in.
• Write a note with no signal and it waits, then sends itself next time you open the app.
• Behind or in front of your subject is now one tap on the main screen. It used to be two taps into a panel, which meant the app's whole trick was hidden.
• Move your text in front because the cutout looked wrong, and Behindr now offers to open Touch Up so you can tidy the edges by hand.

### 1.8 — 2026-09-06

• Fixed video exports freezing a few seconds in. Behindr was waiting on the picture and the sound to line up in a way that could never finish; it now feeds the soundtrack ahead of the video so the export runs to the end.
• Saving a video now shows which stage it has reached, and checks the finished file before telling you it worked.
• If an export ever does get stuck, it now stops with a message instead of sitting on a frozen percentage.

### 1.7 — 2026-09-02

• Fixed video saves stopping part-way with nothing to show for it. Behindr now measures how much memory your iPhone actually has free and sizes the export to match, instead of always reaching for the largest.
• The editing preview now lets go of its own memory while a video is being made, leaving more room for the render to finish.

### 1.6 — 2026-08-31

• A free trial and a paid subscription are now counted separately, so the app can tell how many people go on to subscribe.
• Fixed a pale halo that could appear around dark subjects — hair and dark clothing now cut out cleanly against bright backgrounds.
• The video preview plays about twice as smoothly while you edit.
• Behindr now asks for a rating after a save that worked, and far less often.
