## What is Being?

HTML is a better content container.

Exist is a local reader and library built around HTML. It helps you save webpages, documents, notes, and AI-generated content as local HTML files for reading, organizing, and long-term preservation.

We chose HTML not because it is complex, but because it is open, stable, and close enough to the real structure of reading. A piece of content is never just text — it also includes headings, paragraphs, hierarchy, images, links, quotes, and context. Compared to plain text or Markdown, HTML preserves these details better; compared to platform bookmarks, it is lighter and freer, able to be saved, migrated, and archived as a local file.

Here, HTML is no longer just a page in a browser, but personal material that can be archived, migrated, translated, and exported. You can save important webpages as offline snapshots, turn documentation, study notes, and generated content into local files, and build your own library organized by folders.

Exist does not try to replace the browser, nor does it turn knowledge management into a complex system. It is more like a quiet reading space: bringing content back to local storage from temporary links, chat windows, and scattered bookmarks, in a lightweight, clear, and long-lasting way.

AI features require you to configure your own API Key. The Key is stored in the local system Keychain and is never uploaded to Exist's servers — more secure, and more controllable.

The Pro version unlocks the translation overlay and PDF export. One-time purchase, yours forever.
