## What is Beles?

Beles is where Tigrayans meet — in Los Angeles, Washington, Toronto, London, Frankfurt, Melbourne and everywhere the diaspora has settled. Whether you're looking for a partner or for new friends who share your roots, Beles is built for a community that knows the difference between a swipe and a real introduction.

PROFILES THAT SAY SOMETHING
Every profile is more than photos. Members answer prompts written for us ("My roots in one sentence", "My family will ask you…", "The dish I'd cook for you") and share the basics that matter in our community: faith, family plans, languages, and where their family is from.

LIKE SOMETHING, NOT SOMEONE
You don't like a profile — you like a photo, a prompt or a line in their bio, and you can say why. The person you liked sees exactly what caught your eye. A match only happens when both people choose each other.

SHMAGELE: ELDERS WHO VOUCH FOR YOU
Invite an aunt, an uncle or a family friend to be your Shmagele. They write a short note that appears on your profile — the modern version of the introduction our parents grew up with.

JUST FRIENDS MODE
New in town? Switch to Friends to meet Tigrayans near you for buna, football, church or a language exchange, with no dating pressure.

COMMUNITY EVENTS
Festivals, mekete fundraisers, coffee ceremony workshops and support circles, listed in one place. RSVP, add it to your calendar, and see which of your matches are going.

BUILT ON TRUST
Verified members, in-app reporting and blocking, and a moderation team from the community. Your RSVPs are only ever shown to people you've matched with, and you can delete your account at any time from inside the app.

Beles is free to use. Every member is 18 or older.
