### 2/5 — Unable to join.

*2025-06-25, version 2.8.1*

I am trying to make an account but the app isn’t letting me, it has a lot of bugs that need to be fixed in order for people to even make an account.

### 2/5 — So much potential

*2024-04-17, version 2.8*

Such a great idea for an app. I got to the last part of setting up my profile and it won’t let me pick my values. Legit got to the last part, there’s so many parts, and it won’t let me finish because there’s no button to continue :/

### 2/5 — No matches in my state

*2023-07-17*

“Values based” is idealistic in theory, but if you never are introduced to someone you can actually meet for coffee with, then it feels futile. I’ve been on for six weeks and headed to Match to try to find connections that are actually based on proximity. 80% of my suggested matches are on the other side of the nation, in completely different time zones. I wonder if the app just doesn’t have a broad consumer base.
Perhaps it’s time after 17 years for an update.

### 3/5 — Too Few Matches

*2022-09-19*

I’m very frustrated by the lack of distance filter. After paying for premium, I still only had a handful of matches on Sunday, only one of which was in my area. It’s strange to have the app be so stingy about matches. I click through my matches every week in about two minutes as I check the locations to see if anyone lives near me. I usually go back and look through the profiles more intentionally after that, but if I only have about seven to ten matches the odds that one is going to be intriguing enough for me to strike up a long distance relationship/friendship based on a few prompts is low. This app would be much better if it was just a standard dating app with regular filters and some form of looking through profiles and liking them with the difference being that it is just for LGBTQ Christians. Getting assigned a few random people who live all over the country based on “values” (sometimes with only a couple of those in common) once a week is not a feature. It’s frustrating because we really need a way to connect with other queer Christians and this app has potential to be that but it wastes all of its potential on the weird matching system.

### 3/5 — Good concept; more for younger audiences

*2022-07-13*

I was hopeful to find a place where I could open up and let both my spiritual side as well as be more about about being bi. I would hardly fault this app for this, but there seems to be a lack of 40+ on here. And there’s not really a great way to connect with this group. I found it to be lackluster and overwhelming at the same time. Also the bugs of profile filling were frustrating. Leaving now, but wish you the best.

### 3/5 — Bugs - or annoyances?

*2022-04-30*

I work in IT, so I have expectations on how software responds. I can’t tell if it’s bugs, or not properly disclosed, that of you choose “answer later” on some questions, it will later come back and ask you again, trashing your other answers in the process. I didn’t want it to know my location or approve notifications yet, but it kept coming back to those until I answered it “correctly.” They weren’t clear you can only answer one way to be accepted. I also think the monthly price is a little high, but given I can’t get my account created without giving them everything, I think I will wait.

### 2/5 — Almost unusable

*2022-01-21*

I love the idea and heart behind this, but this app has major problems and has since launch. The bugs are incessant, and the worst I’ve ever experienced in an app. Half the time I open the app it crashes, I relaunch it and it goes into building a new profile and new account even though I have both set up. I have to force close the app and reopen to get my account to come back and sometimes it just won’t cooperate.

I have the latest iOS on iPhone 13 but the app can be very slow, even on WiFi, to load content.

My liked communities disappear every other click. I rarely, if ever, receive a notification when I receive a message, even though I’ve allowed them.

Also I have paid for premium and still have only found one person in my state. Not an app problem as much as a marketing one, but it does make it exceptionally difficult to engage with.

This is a preference thing but I wish there was a “tap” or “swipe” option so I don’t have to write an opening message to someone before I know they are at least interested.

I wish I had more positive things to say, but the truth is this is executed very poorly. I will absolutely keep the app to see where it goes and I’m rooting for you guys.

**Developer response:** Hi Solebarac - thank you for the candid feedback! We know how much time and effort it can take to create a profile and spend time trying to find a human to connect with - we don't take your efforts for granted!

From the date of your review it looks like you were right in the middle of a major outage for us. I'm so sorry for all of the issues you faced! The app crashes and other issues you've mentioned have been fixed! If you're still experiencing those please delete the app and reinstall it. That will fix it immediately! If it doesn't and you're still facing issues please please shoot us an email (support@believr.app) we'd be happy to help!

### 1/5 — Let Down

*2021-10-06*

I was so excited for this app. As a Trans Christian, my identity is constantly fought against and I’m subjected to questions like “What’s your real name?” Which is exactly what happens when you try to register here. This is gender dysphoria inducing and other sites such as Twitter do not do this.
I would love to come back when your lawyers figure out how to do this like other social media platforms and not harm Trans people trying to find community.
Dysphoria is so unbelievably painful and scary. I don’t think you intend to induce that, but the impact you are having does.

**Developer response:** Hi RebelHeart311 - dang! We're so sorry that was your experience with believr. If you're open to it we'd appreciate learning more from your experience so we can improve the app.

We have a council of folx that help with these types of decisions and it would be helpful to understand your perspective.

### 2/5 — Doesn’t seem worth the money

*2021-09-29, version 2.5.2*

I was really hoping there would be more with the paid option. Matches only on Sundays and the app doesn’t match you with people in your state or the surrounding states. Filters for people closer would be nice.

### 1/5 — Matches on Sunday

*2021-08-23, version 2.5.2*

I downloaded this app on a Monday and I have to wait a week to see my matches?? No thank you!! Also you have to pay to see people that are actually in your city. I’d give this 0 stars if I could.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work on iPhone 12 mini

*2021-07-31, version 2.5.2*

Not sure why but no messages show up at all.

### 2/5 — No matches, no dashboard updates

*2021-06-14*

Hi! I really like the concept of the app, but it is not working for me. I installed the app about a week ago, but it looks the exact same way every day. My dashboard has the same quote, the same bible verse, and the same recommended book. My community spaces are empty in all categories. And I have not get any matches, even on Sunday.

I already verified and there seems to be no update pending for the app on AppStore.

How can I solve this? Or is the app suppose to be like this?

**Developer response:** Hi hi - thank you for the review and feedback! The dashboard updates about once a month and for matches you should get matches once a week if you didn't feel free to shoot us an email at support@believr.app and we can take a look!

### 1/5 — Inaccessible

*2021-06-05*

I suffer from light sensitivity and require a black background with a selection of coloured text, alrhough recommended fir this with visual limitations is having yellow coloured text, id at least like white or gray, or better yet your own choice of colour. As it is now, the app only produces eye strain/ pain. I will be deleting the app.

**Developer response:** Hi friend - I'm so sorry to hear you're having issues with the app. Thank you for the feedback and letting us know that you're having issues! We're working on better accessibility features in the app hopefully in future releases. Thank you for downloading the app and giving it a test drive.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — I can’t sign up, won’t take my email address.

*2026-01-05, version 2.8.1*

Every time I try to verify my email it says access denied. There is some technical issue that still needs to be worked out.

### 1/5 — No Users

*2025-04-13, version 2.8.1*

Great idea for an app. Unfortunately there aren’t any people to match with. I even put my preferences set to any gender, the full age range, and open to friends and dating. The app told me it had no one to match my preferences and therefore couldn’t swipe on any profiles. Great concept but needs users for it to work

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2025-01-10, version 2.8.1*

After going though a tedious list of disclaimers (definitely caters to a woke mindset), taking a silly values quiz (that glitched out twice), there were no matches to be made.

### 1/5 — Still inaccessible

*2024-12-01, version 2.8.1*

I need larger text and the app is not intuitive to allow me to scroll down and sign up again. However, from there being only one other review from two years ago, I doubt there is a dark mode. Such a shame as there is not enough resources for followers of Christ who are gay etc

### 1/5 — Great Concept, Horrible Execution

*2024-09-14, version 2.8.1*

App looks great but barely works. As an app developer I can’t believe this app passed QA and user testing. Lots of concerning privacy issues. Lack of functionality.

### 1/5 — Lost Contacts

*2023-10-04, version 2.7*

All of my contacts were gone when I restored from backup. Also, when I got back to the original phone, all of my chat contacts are gone too as well. Bummer!

### 1/5 — not pleased and really annoyed

*2023-06-30*

i downloaded this app a while ago with little to no issues with the software of the app. i was annoyed that i had no “matches” or people in my “area” to look at. this app needs better marketing so people will use and more people will find a affirming christian/spiritual community.

i go to re-downloaded it again today and i can’t even log back in. i tried to change my password 6 times and i just kept getting error messages and more clunky software bugs. i like the concept of the app but, wow, y’all need to make some changes.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2022-04-07, version 2.7*

The app doesn’t work right and there is no one on it. Seemed really suspicious.

### 1/5 — Lagging

*2022-02-21*

This app is supposed to be for me yet isn’t. There’s too many technology problems I’ve faced, I made an account in 2021 yet coming back in 2022, my email was not recognized. Then this time, I tried to reorder my top 5 values and I couldn’t do it, and I just got my iphone, it’s new. Then everytime I got given matches on Sundays, I could not text them. So am I still on this app that’s not working??

**Developer response:** Hi Chaikxtreme - thank you for the honest feedback and review! I'm so sorry you're facing issues with the app. That is not what we want for members of our community. Please shoot us an email - we'd be happy to look into the issue for ya. support@believr.app

### 1/5 — Frustrating

*2022-02-14, version 2.7*

I really wanted to like this app, but it is quite buggy. I created a profile, used it for months. Other profiles would often not load, images would be empty. This week I was logged out and not I’m forced to create a new profile, instead of being able to use my existing one. Frustrating

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Determined Community!

*2024-02-26*

This app represents the determination of a whole community of amazing people wanting to make space for each other and still others who don’t have space given them elsewhere right now. By downloading and subscribing you support this effort and give the leaders resources to figure out the problems that threaten to break this community down. That’s my review and recommendation to you. A massive thanks to the developers as you continue to make this app all we need it to be.

### 5/5 — Found love here

*2021-10-27*

I just think this company is pioneers in a a much needed space for queer Christian. Their focus on community is reflected in public chats across various topics. Plus I enjoy making connections based on shared values. I found my partner on believr and I continue to come back for building community.

**Developer response:** Yassssss! So glad you found someone.

### 5/5 — Great app not available on all handheld devices

*2021-08-08*

I first installed this app on my iPhone 7+. Then I thought, I use my tablet just as much as my phone so download it there. Found out my device is not compatible with the app programming. My tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 6. Not top of the line, but still fairly new.

**Developer response:** Hi luliaknight86 - hmmm that's odd. We do support iPhone 7+ that's odd that it didn't work for you. We can take a look if you're interested. Feel free to send us an email at support@believr.app and we can dig into it more!

### 5/5 — Love the friendships

*2021-06-30, version 2.5.1*

The only thing is that the last update totally logged me off. I can't log back in. But love the app!

### 5/5 — A Purpose-Driven App

*2021-03-09*

This app is beautiful not only in design and functionality, but also in it’s purpose. Not only is it a dating app, but also a way to build and connect with the queer-religious/spiritual community. Matching based on values, and I’ve never seen another app achieve that in such a brilliant way. I can’t recommend this app enough.

**Developer response:** Thank youuuu for being an integral part of the community.

### 5/5 — The best dating app to date (pun intended)

*2021-02-11*

As someone who actively stays in the loop while using the beta version of this app, I can attest that the bug issues that were complained about previously had already been discussed within the long chain of text (which they also complained about) in order to fix them—I guess they didn’t read through it before complaining about it. They’re planning on turning that into many groups and chatrooms, anyway.. The issues have all been resolved and the app is already much better than any app I’ve used..and I’ve literally used (and paid for) them all. Like, 10 different apps. The app is designed to match you according to values and force you to actually get to know someone a bit before you decide they’re “not your type” and swipe left. Seeing a high percentage values match definitely makes you reconsider passing someone up so quickly just because they don’t have “the look” you think is so important. If you’re looking for something real with someone truly compatible, this is the app to use. Not having the most important values in common is the root of failed relationships—this is the only app that tackles that head-on. I could say so much more, but you should just check it out for yourself!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review! We're thrilled you like the app.

### 4/5 — Great App but needs some work

*2024-02-25*

This is the most meaningful app i’ve ever downloaded. I met some very close friends on here, thank you so much! It takes a while to meet people you really connect with, so don’t give up right away. However, the app has some glitches. 1. sometimes it doesn’t notify you about messages or let you respond 2. sometimes it won’t let you use the keyboard 3. sometimes it won’t let you send pictures 4. every time i’ve used the app for the past few months it’s prompted me to “re-enable” settings i’ve already set up 5. occasionally it makes me restart my whole profile and deletes everything i already added, or won’t let me edit things, which is really annoying.
some suggestions: I love meeting fellow queer christians all over the continent, but I would love to meet some within 300 miles of me every now and then
glitches and suggestions aside, if you are a queer christian, this app might just change your life for the better.

### 4/5 — Awesome, but still a couple bugs.

*2021-11-18*

Believr has been such a breath of fresh air for me because I’m able to find people who have similar stories as me and befriend them! But, there are still a couple bugs that I am experiencing.
When originally filling out the profile info, my phone auto filled my full name, and I didn’t realize it until I had everything set up. I have tried to go back and edit my name so it shows what I want it to show, but every time I reopen the app it goes back to my full name. Please fix this!
Also, the pronouns options only show up in one order on a profile, and I use multiple, but I don’t necessarily prefer them in the order that they show up, e.g. using she/they and preferring she over they, but they/them occurs before she/her on the profile. Adding some type of prioritizing feature would be great.
Overall a wonderful app that has helped me make some friends!!

**Developer response:** Hi hi - so glad you're enjoying the app! Thank you for the incredibly helpful feedback. We'll add it to the list of feature requests from the community which you can find at https://believr.hellonext.co

The full name issue has been fixed :)

### 4/5 — A really good app with no distance filter

*2021-03-29*

If you’re lgbtqa+ and a Christian, then this app is a good option for finding friendship and/or finding a romantic partner. It’s community based and has zoom meetups once a week. The only downside is that there’s no distance filter. So if you’re like myself and you don’t want to date someone across the country, this app is not for you. However, if that doesn’t bother you, then definitely give this app a try! At the very least, it’s a great way to make lgbtqa+ Christian friends.

**Developer response:** Hey hey! Thanks for the review! If you're a spectrum user then you'll be matched with users who are closest to you. Thanks for being a part of the community!

### 3/5 — Slightly disappointed

*2025-02-19*

The concept of the app is amazing. Really like the idea of being able to have both face identity and gender/sexuality affirmed in the same place. Unfortunately, this app seems to not be having a lot of traffic at this time. I have tried making an account twice already at separate times in both times there seems to not be anyone on the app. Nobody is using the chat rooms, and half the people that you click on to try to message are not listed as having an account anymore. I hope they get more traffic soon.
