Tell it the distance. It tells you the club. Below Par is a caddie that knows your bag. Type the yardage to the pin, add the wind, and it names the club from your own carry numbers — not a chart of what a scratch golfer hits. Then you score the hole and move on. YOUR COURSES, ALREADY THERE 205 Alberta courses across 125 towns and cities: municipal, public, semi-private, private and resort, eighteens and nines. Pick yours and tee off. A CADDIE, NOT A CALCULATOR • Distance in, club out, with one sentence saying why • Wind worked into the number, and the app says so when conditions are calm rather than inventing an adjustment • Your yardage card, longest to shortest, with the gaps in your set called out A HANDICAP YOU CAN CHECK • Calculated under the 2024 Rules of Handicapping — best 8 of your last 20 • Every round shows the rating it used and where that rating came from • A round off an unrated tee tracks your scoring and says plainly that it won't move your index This is Below Par's own estimate, worked out on your device. We added 205 courses across 125 Alberta towns and cities — the Calgary and Edmonton municipals, the private clubs, the semi-privates, the resort courses in the Rockies, and the nine-holers in between. Start a round and it's already on the list. Where a course's rating and slope are published, they're in. Where they aren't, the app says so rather than guessing — and a round played off an unrated tee still tracks your scoring, it just doesn't move your index. Also in this update • Trends. Everything you see is new, and a few things are deliberately gone. FOUR TABS THAT MAKE SENSE Home, Play, Practice, Progress. Play owns everything you do on the course. Progress owns your handicap, your stats and your round history. Your bag and your profile are one tap from both, instead of buried behind a gear icon. EVERY NUMBER SAYS WHAT IT MEANS Not "GIR 33%". Instead: thirty-four putts a round, four of them three-putts, and that's where three shots are going. When there isn't enough data to say something true, the app says so rather than showing you a zero. A YARDAGE CARD THAT POINTS OUT THE GAPS Dial the distance to the pin and it names the club and what the carry actually does. Below that, your whole set longest to shortest, with the gaps called out where they fall. That's the thing a list of numbers never tells you. LOGGING A ROUND YOU'VE ALREADY PLAYED Eighteen cells. Tap one, hit a score. Four common outcomes cover most holes and a stepper takes the rest, so a 9 is as easy to enter as a 4. Totals build as you go. TEES YOU CAN ACTUALLY ENTER If your course isn't in the database, add the tee yourself. Course rating and slope are optional, and we tell you what you give up without them right where you decide, instead of leaving you to wonder later why your index never moved. YOUR BAG, GROUPED THE WAY YOU PACK IT Driver through putter, with the range each group covers and the fourteen-club limit shown as you fill it. Carry distances start as estimates and correct themselves from your shots. A SHORTER START Onboarding is four questions now, every one skippable, and we only ask what the app can't work out for itself. New to golf? You don't get a handicap you made up. You get one after two rounds. WHAT'S GONE XP, levels, streak flames and weekly challenges. They rewarded opening the app rather than playing better golf.
