### 4/5 — Review for LUC

*2025-09-08, version 4.0.3*

After reviewing BeMe, I would give the app a rating of 4.5 out of 5. BeMe stands out as a great platform that balances privacy, playfulness, and clinically informed resources. It is shaped by a Teen Advisory Board, which ensures that the app remains relevant and responsive to youth culture (How Are Teens Involved in Building BeMe?, 2025). One of BeMe’s greatest strengths is its usability. The app is intuitive, offering mood check-ins, personalized activities, and access to supportive media in a format that fits seamlessly into the mobile use habits of adolescents (Laser & Nicotera, 2011). Unlike traditional therapy, BeMe allows for quick bursts of engagement, which is more relatable to teens who are used to that with apps like Instagram and TikTok. The app is visually appealing and uplifting without being overwhelming, which helps reduce barriers to engagement (Laser & Nicotera, 2011). Privacy is also prioritized through plain language policies, which comply with child privacy regulations (BeMe : Trust & Safety at BeMe, 2025). The interactivity is developmentally appropriate. Teens can shape their experience through sharing moods or engaging with a coach, which reflects the growing need for independence and coping tools (Laser & Nicotera, 2011). Despite these strengths, the app has some limitations. It requires a consistent internet connection, and video content may consume significant data, which could pose barriers for adolescents from lower-income backgrounds (Laser & Nicotera, 2011). It does not replace therapy, but it serves as an accessible entry point for support.

### 4/5 — Beneficial on multiple levels!

*2024-09-23, version 3.2.3*

BeMe aims to serve adolescents and young adults in establishing and maintaining positive overall well-being and overcoming mental health challenges through professional and peer support. A Doctor of Psychology founded the app with over twenty years of experience, and a children’s technology advocate passionate about improving mental health resources and making them readily available for kids, teens, and young adults. BeMe has implemented a teen advisory board consisting of teens and college students to assist in understanding their target audience through feedback and insight. The hours I explored BeMe, I found it to be helpful as an adult, and I can see this being something I could have benefited from as an adolescent. I recommend this app and can see myself using it with future adolescent clients in a therapeutic setting between weekly sessions.

### 2/5 — Used to be great

*2024-07-22, version 3.1.8*

I used to use this frequently to speak to coaches when my mental health was at its lowest, I came back after a month or two to test again utilize this wonderful tool and I find out I need to now use a subscription to speak to a coach? I get that an app needs to make money to continue sometimes but out of everything putting that behind a paywall after it’s been free has frustrated and overall disappointed me

### 3/5 — Nervous

*2024-05-11, version 3.1.5*

I’m nervous to try the couch

### 2/5 — Logs me out every time

*2024-02-07, version 3.1.1*

I like the app it self, but I already had an account and it logged me out every time I would leave the app it would sign me out of it. Them when I would try to get back in it would ask me for my phone number and I would put my phone number it says this phone number is register or something. On another note the conversation with the counselors I really like speaking to them they help to to understand what I am trying to get out.👍

### 3/5 — some improvements needed

*2024-02-06, version 3.1.1*

After using the app and exploring all of its features, I would rate this app a 3 out of 5 due to the superficial content that is provided for users. Although the app does provide a multitude of different activities such as puzzles and quizzes, the content is very trendy and non-clinical. For example, some of the quizzes that users can take are “the color quiz” and “leadership style”. These quizzes are not aimed at reducing stress or improving mood as the app claims it does. The puzzles that users are able to do are also repetitive in nature. For instance, every puzzle requires the user to rearrange the tiles until the full picture or quote is revealed. Once the user solves the puzzle, it is fairly easy to resolve it which can make the user bored. Even though these activities are simplistic, engaging in them can benefit users by distracting users from their small everyday stressors for a short period of time which is a strength of this app. Another strength of this app is that the content incorporates material that adolescents are familiar with. As mentioned in “Why Teens Hate Therapy; Mistakes Therapists Should Avoid”, in order to connect with adolescents, we must utilize language that is more natural rather than ritualized clinical language (Edgette, 2012). This app was able to incorporate topics and content that adolescents are both interested in and familiar with by using a language that adolescents understand. An example of this are the TikTok’s that users can watch on a wide range of topics like school, anxiety, family drama, identity, etc. These are all topics that adolescents are either struggling with or currently experiencing which makes the content in this app relatable. At the same time, this app also includes videos that are not necessarily relevant to mental health such as videos on US history, cars, destination vacations, ASMR, etc. Incorporating these videos takes the focus away from mental health and forces users to shift their attention elsewhere. As mentioned earlier, the content on this app is rather superficial and more entertaining than educational which is a disservice to adolescents who utilize this app in hopes of getting help with their mental health. Apps like this one may shy away from incorporating content that is based on research or that is more clinical in nature in order to appease its target population. Moreover, app creators may also believe that adolescents are not necessarily prepared to have deeper discussions about mental health due to their preconceived notions of this developmental stage. This is understandable but as discussed in the Social Work Podcast, the adolescence stage is an age of opportunity meaning educators as well as social workers should expose adolescents to material that will be useful for their brain development (Singer, 2014). An example of useful material is mindfulness which can help adolescents develop better self-control (Singer, 2014). Although the BeMe: Teen Mental Health app already provides users with short one minute meditation videos that users can follow along with, improving the quality of these videos could greatly benefit users. For instance, increasing the time length could benefit users as well as guided meditations with either audio or subtitles options. Incorporating content that promotes mindfulness rather than trendy TikTok’s is a great way to help support adolescents during this important developmental stage.

### 2/5 — Seemed Like It Would Help But...

*2023-12-07, version 3.0.5*

When I first heard about this app, I thought, "Maybe this could help with my Anxiety." So, I downloaded it, created my account, etc. I was not able to do much of anything. I was able to start some chats with the coaches, take a few quizzes, but the videos the coaches would send me were not accessible. This is because I am blind and using a ScreenReader to access the app. A ScreenReader reads and lets me interact with content on the screen of my device, and it's built in to every Apple Device, it's called VoiceOver and it can be found in the Accessibility settings. I mentioned to the coaches I talked to that the app could use some work in this area, and they told me it was in the works. I stopped using it and just came back to it today. Nothing has changed. If anything, the "New and improved mood check-ins", don't work very well with the ScreenReader. Most of the options just say "button". I will come back if I hear about any accessibility improvement, but for now I don't see the point in trying to use an app that is not built with accessibility in mind

### 3/5 — Cool (I guess)

*2023-11-07, version 3.0.2*

So I have had this app since January of 2022, and it’s ok… the coaching is a 8/10, the calming exercises are a 2/10, the content is 4/10, and the drawling is 0.1/10. This app REALLY helped me make friends, but it’s just not the app I’m looking for. A lot of people (as I know from the reviews) can disagree with me, but this is MY experience with the app.

The coaching is mid-mid. You pick a topic to talk about, and then it brings you to the app’s chat area. It normally says something like “We got your message! Coaches normally respond at 8:00 PM ESP” or something like that. When the coach FINALLY responds (1 day after the message 🙄), they ask for your name preferred pronouns. Next, they send some dumb videos on how to help you. If you don’t respond in 30 minutes, they close the chat… but if you respond on time, they send some rude and nasty messages/personal questions. At that point I want to give up and close the chat MYSELF!! Overall for coaching is ⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars.

Long story short, the calming excercises don’t work. They degrade your mental health and patience… ⭐️ star

Content is………. Terrible and irreverent. ⭐️⭐️ stars.

YOU CANT EVEN USE THE DRAWING!! IT DOESNT WORK!! 0 stars on this one… ⬛️

Hey, this app is fine, but don’t waste your phone storage downloading it!! ❤️❤️

Thanks for reading this yall 💖

### 4/5 — It was great but I can’t get back in

*2023-11-04, version 3.0.1*

With the new update I had to log in again and started going through it but then I got to a page that told me to download the latest version in the App Store, and as far as I know I have that but it won’t let me back in.

### 3/5 — Doesn’t work

*2023-10-06, version 2.2.7*

I downloaded the app and was creating an account when I pressed next and it took me to a screen that said “what else interests you” and it got stuck with nothing else on the page and an unpressable finish button.

### 3/5 — (Un)Satisfied

*2023-09-10, version 2.2.7*

So I got the app about three or four months ago and was loving it because it was really helpful. Until a few days ago. It logged me out and wouldn’t let me log back in and said that there wasn’t an account with what I had tried to log in with even though there is. And it is making me create a new account and I don’t want to create a new account and there are supposed to be two options of how to create an account, it didn’t even give me an option.

### 2/5 — Bad app

*2023-09-09, version 2.2.7*

This app has puzzles to help calmness, but every time I try to click on a puzzle piece nothing happens just stays frozen. Super disappointing I will be deleting this app.

### 4/5 — Can't put birthday

*2023-08-01*

Ok so I got this app because I struggle with anxiety but when I tried to create an account it wouldn't let me and said something went wrong when I tried to put my birthday. I'm sure this is an amazing app but if y'all could reply to this and tell me what is happening then that would be awesome!

**Developer response:** Please reach out to us at support@bemehealth.com. We will help you get this resolved asap. Please include the error message you are receiving, name and email address. Thanks.

### 5/5 — Changed my everyday life

*2023-07-07, version 2.2.6*

I absolutely love this app! I am actually on the BeMe Teen Advisory Board and I helped the team co-develop the app. Seeing how far this app has come from the early stages of testing to what it is now is truly incredible. Doing the daily activities and having access to coaching improves my mood and my everyday life! I cant recommend this app more!

### 4/5 — Thank you

*2023-06-12, version 2.2.3*

Even though I’ve only had it for a bit it has makes me more calm and I was just crying about… nevermind that but it helped me with the breathing exercises thank you so much!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Coaches??

*2024-05-08, version 3.1.5*

Why would anyone trust their mental health with anonymous ‘coaches’ without bios, verifiable credentials and/or track records, reviews/ratings, etc.? You might as well go to Reddit for mental health coaching.

### 1/5 — Didn’t even let me in the app

*2023-06-01, version 2.2.3*

I made an tried to make and it didn’t let me, all I could do is see my hopes for this app fumble and I was looking forward to this app just for it to not work.Disappointed

*2023-01-12, version 2.1.5*

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work for me:(

*2022-12-17, version 2.1.4*

I’ve been stuck on the username, birthday, pronouns and zip code page since I got it which was a week or two ago. I was so excited because it seemed like such a cool app with a nice concept so it’s upsetting that it doesn’t work:/

### 1/5 — Bad

*2022-12-07, version 2.1.4*

It won’t let me join it

### 1/5 — Cannot even get past the first page

*2022-12-06, version 2.1.3*

I don’t know if it is only a glitch in my phone or what, but when I get to the first page and have to put in my username and all that jazz, I can’t enter my birthday, like I can enter all the other info perfectly fine, but not my birthday like the screen doesn’t even pop up, and when I scrolled super high it was behind my first page, and didn’t even allow me to access it, so I’ll probably be deleting

### 1/5 — Birthday won’t work

*2022-12-05, version 2.1.3*

I tried to enter the birthday into the profile but it didn’t work

### 5/5 — Please read!!

*2025-08-09, version 4.0.3*

I downloaded BeMe last week and it has great tips you can use to help with things like handling stress, anxiety, focus, and social situations. There are a lot of helpful videos and content on the app, and a feature to chat with a person (not just ai) about anything! Although you do have to pay for this feature you can see if it is included with insurance or get free chats by logging in to the app consistently. I love how BeMe is accessible to everyone, and if someone who works at BeMe reads this please make more content for people with ADHD!

### 5/5 — AN END TO DOOMSCROLLING

*2025-02-27, version 3.3.5*

It’s like a free diary + on-call counseling + mental health resource + little quizzes + hopecore social media app. Great vibes, and they add new features regularly. Definitely recomend if you have ever been interested in mindfulness

### 5/5 — Absolutely AMAZING!!!

*2023-09-14*

So far, I’ve had an absolute blast around here! All that everything Be Me offers from the daily resets, to the content, to the coaches, coach Amy is the BEST!!! I’m so thankful that I came across and even decided to download and give them a chance! Because with somebody like me who has it tough when it comes to anxiety and depression, they’re a hand full of help with everyday situations 24/7! Usually, you’d find mental health apps quite disappointing, but now they’re are a TOTALLY different story! I would highly recommend them to anybody I know, especially my friends!

**Developer response:** Thank you!!! We’re happy you’re finding Beme helpful. Let us if there’s anything we can do to make it even better.
