## What is Bench Gym Log?

Bench Gym Log is a workout tracker built for lifters. Log your sets, create workout routines, track your training goals, and turn your workout logs into useful insights.

Log Your Workouts
Follow a saved workout routine or start an empty workout and add exercises as you go. Record weight and reps, add notes, and access previous sessions and exercise stats while you train. Time your rest periods with a built-in rest timer that runs in the background and notifies you when it's time for your next set!

Build Custom Workout Routines
Choose from our catalog of 400+ exercises, or create your own custom exercises and start tracking your progress. Bench supports weighted, bodyweight, timed, and cardio exercises. Arrange your exercises, set up your sets and rest times, and save routines for your next session. You can publish your workout routines or keep them private.

See Your Progress
Bench automatically generates detailed strength and volume charts for every exercise you log. Explore your progression and training totals across different timeframes. See how your volume is distributed across exercises and muscle groups so you can identify neglected areas and train with intention.

Set Goals That Matter to You
Set targets for workout frequency, strength, exercise variety, or training volume. Whether you want to address lagging muscle groups or hit a strength target on a specific lift, Bench lets you track your progress toward the habits and milestones that matter to you.

View Your Workout Logs
Find past sessions in calendar or list view and review your sets, reps, and notes at any time. You can even add missed workouts and edit past workout logs, so you can fill in missed sessions and ensure all your stats are accurate.

Discover and Share
Explore public routines, save a copy, and adapt them to your training. Share public workouts and profiles with one simple link that anyone can view. In Bench's chat, send routines, exercises, completed workout logs, and profiles to your friends or coach.

One Account For Mobile and Web
Sign in at app.benchgymlog.com with the same account you use on mobile. Review your history, build routines, and explore your progress on a larger screen.

Free to Use
Log unlimited workouts, view your entire history, and access exercise stats across all timeframes, including multi-rep maxes for weighted exercises for free. Most lifters can get everything they need without upgrading.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2026-06-26, version 9.0.0*

Can’t get past entering the weight. No “next” button to tap. Nothing there when swiping left or right or up or down. Frustrating.

### 3/5 — App Failed on iPhone 14

*2026-06-19*

I gave three stars just because I don’t have a way to rate this. App is not compatible with iPhone 14. When entering data to start the profile, there is no done button on the keyboard and no way to close the keyboard thus you cannot click on the next button in the app and even finish the 2nd page of the profile set up. For the company, it is on the page to enter weight.

**Developer response:** I'm so sorry you had trouble signing up! This was a rare bug that occurs on some devices, and the issue is now fixed in the latest version of Bench. You should now be able to sign up and complete the onboarding process. Thank you so much for describing the issue in detail so we can fix it! Once you sign up, please email me at help@benchgymlog.com with your username, and I will upgrade your account to Bench Premium for free forever!

### 5/5 — Top tier workout app! 🧌Redo

*2026-06-06*

Probably the best workout app I have ever used. I use this app pretty consistently since I downloaded it like a week ago. It is very efficient at what it does and is simple to use user-friendly. It has a lot of exercises for almost all muscle groups. There is a good amount of free availability, but you do have to pay eventually. I may have already written a review, but this one is more inclusive. One question, for the dumbbell workouts do you put the total weight of the two dumbbells or just the weight of one of the dumbbells?

**Developer response:** Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying the app! To answer your question, you want to track the total weight of both dumbbells when doing dumbbell exercises. This way, the volume metrics are accurate. For example, if you're lifting two 30 lb dumbbells, then you'd put the weight as 60lbs. Hope this helps!

### 4/5 — Freemium

*2026-02-19*

A simple app that allows you to log your progress and includes a fair amount of exercises and the ability to add in lifts as well. While it is a paid app, they allow you to use a free version with limited workouts you can make. I knocked off a star because realistically this doesn’t need to be a subscription model and should be more of a $5 lifetime purchase app at most

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review! I tried my best to make the free tier generous so most people can use Bench for free and still benefit from my app! Unfortunately I can’t make it $5 for lifetime because of the development cost, ongoing server costs, licensing costs, marketing costs, etc that go into running Bench.

### 5/5 — Great Customer Service!!!

*2026-02-10*

I upgraded from my old iPhone 10 Max to an iPhone 17 and was a bit concerned about whether my previous purchases would be restored. Last year, I took advantage of a limited-time offer to access an app for free, and I was eager to check it out since I have a gym at home. Unfortunately, the app wasn't working initially, which made me a bit sad. However, I connected with customer support to verify my email. They conducted a thorough review and were able to confirm my email from my old iPhone. I'm so grateful they fixed it! Now I'm all set and ready to go! Let’s do this!

**Developer response:** Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the app!

### 4/5 — Great App!

*2025-12-11, version 6.3.0*

Overall Great app! Needs a space when recording sets where you can make notes indicating whether you didn’t hit the set (ex.-failure@6th rep)…things of that nature….

### 2/5 — ADD MORE STUFF

*2025-11-13, version 6.2.0*

You guys need to add plyometrics to this app, until then it’s only good if you just started in the gym or only do machines for leg day

### 3/5 — Notes

*2024-11-22*

I dont understand how all these training apps don't have a place to jot down exercises notes.

For each set suggest you add a place to add notes and rep ranges like in the free version of repcount

**Developer response:** Thank you for the suggestion! I'll add the ability to write free-form notes for each set in an upcoming release. Thank you very much for trying my app!

### 5/5 — Best

*2024-11-21*

Best useful app

### 5/5 — Interface Problem Before I can even see the app

*2024-11-21*

I can enter my height and there is a next button but when I get to the next screen I can enter my weight but there is no next button and I’m stuck 🤷‍♀️I have tried closing the app, deleting it and reinstalling and the same problem. I sure would like to use the app. UPDATE- quick response from developer. They fixed the problem and I was able to get into the app immediately. This is the app I have been searching for! I’ve tried a lot of them but they didn’t have the number of exercises to choose from as the Bench app. Exactly what I need for planning AND tracking workouts!! Easy to work with too-tap and add. Other apps took forever to set up and didn’t have half the exercises I do. This blows other workout apps out of the water!

**Developer response:** I’m so sorry you ran into that bug! I’ve never run into that during testing, but I would love to help you. Please send me an email with your username or the email you signed up with to help@benchgymlog.com and I’ll manually enter your info so you can login. I will also upgrade your account to Bench premium for a year for free if you’d like to give Bench another try!
