Bencher is a new, modern benchmarking app for checking how your Apple devices perform in general, and over time. Run tests for your CPU, memory, SSD storage and GPU, then save each result so you can compare performance across devices, updates and different benchmark settings. Bencher is built for people who want a simple way to see whether their device is performing as expected without digging through complicated tools, as well as for fellow tech-enthusiasts who want to test the performance of their device and compare against others. Features include: • Intuitive User Interface • Single-core and multi-core CPU benchmarks • Memory performance testing • SSD read and write speed testing • Metal graphics benchmarking • Mac-supported OpenCL graphics benchmarking • Overall performance scores • Saved, searchable, filterable and easy to use benchmark history • Performance trends and comparisons • Reference comparisons between results • iCloud sync for benchmark history • Export and import support (both singular and batch import/export) • Feedback button to provide feedback and bug reports back to me • Dark mode by default (The cool way :p) • Native app layouts for iPhone, iPad and Mac Bencher is useful for checking performance after software updates, comparing different Apple devices, spotting unusual slowdowns, or keeping a long-term record of how your device performs. The app does not require an account, and benchmark history can be kept locally or synced through iCloud if you choose to enable it. This app is also currently awaiting approval from Gouvernement de la République française for distribution in France due to encryption use, and will be opened up to the French market pending approval. ## Version history (last 4 releases) ### 2.00 — 2026-05-23 Thanks for using Bencher! Community Results (V2.00) Update: • Added Community Results - public benchmark averages from other Bencher users who choose to share. • Your contributions are anonymous, no personal or entered data such as notes or tags is shared. • Your notes, tags, favourites and session details stay local - only the benchmark numbers are shared. • Community averages drop outlier scores so they reflect typical performance, not extremes. • Added upload status, a Remove Upload control, and an Upload All button in Settings. • Rewrote bulk upload to send results in batches, with progress (Uploading X of Y) and a Cancel button. • Capped community uploads at 20 of your most recent results per device (per user), mode and graphics path so no one user dominates the averages. • Hid empty device groups from the Averages view when none of their uploaded results count toward stats. • Reference tab now shows your delta (the difference) from the community median and an estimated percentile. • Added sanitisation (metaphorical sense) so public results can be reviewed and managed. • Added an option to show early device groups before they have enough samples to be solid. • Added Community Results to the Reference tab and the leaderboard. • Anyone can browse Community Results - uploading results requires an Apple Account, browsing doesn't. • Allowed for collapsable docks for users on iOS 26. • Kept CSV import available through History so exported benchmark files can be brought back in for backup and importing. • Improved Trends where its data is inadequate so Bencher explains exactly how many more matching result days are needed before trends can be shown. • Added an Advanced Storage Diagnostics sheet in Settings with result counts, sync status, storage size and recent load/save/ sync times. • Expanded tests around CSV import/export, leaderboard ordering, compatibility helpers and benchmark cancellation state. • Made the default number of runs for stability 3 runs. • Tweaked descriptions of some things to make them more clear and consistent. Now With Fewer Vanishing Acts Update (V1.45): • Made leaderboard selections cleaner by briefly highlighting the chosen result after the leaderboard closes on iPad. • Added leaderboard filters for all devices, this device, Balanced runs and Metal runs so top scores are easier to compare fairly. • Improved benchmark cancellation feedback so Bencher shows a short cancellation message before returning to a state of being able to run a new benchmark. • Added a Bottom Tab Bar setting on iPhone and iPad so you can keep the bar visible, let selected pages hide it on scroll, or use a more compact scrolling style where supported. Top Trumps, Top Bumps Update (V1.40): • Added a new top 10 leaderboard showing your best historic benchmarks. • Improved the Mac leaderboard popup so it stays comfortably within the app window with better padding. • Fixed benchmark cancellation so cancelled runs reset immediately and no longer only stop after the current part of the test is complete.
