## What is beorg?

beorg is a to-do list and task manager app that puts you in control. You can see what needs to be done on a weekly agenda from the moment you open the app. From simple task lists to managing complex projects, beorg helps you keep on top of work, family and everything else. Files are synced in the plain text Org mode file format to iCloud, Dropbox, WebDAV, a folder in another app, or Box*.

beorg is free to use with optional extensions available as individual in-app purchases - or become a beorg Premium subscriber to unlock everything.

Die App hat alles, was man braucht um org mode mobil auf das iPhone zu bekommen. Ich synce mit webdav über Nextcloud, funktioniert prima. 
Toll sind die Templates, z.B. für Journal-Einträge, Capture, Notizen. Ich erstelle Notizen mit der Spracherkennung des iPhones über Kurzbefehle.
Auch sonst sind Captures von URLs oder markiertem Text ganz einfach über Apples „Öffnen mit“ >> Beorg.
Kurz: das beste System für Noizen, Organisation, GTD usw. wird mit dieser App mobil!

I’ve been playing with Emacs for 45 years, Org for 6 or 7, and Beorg for at least 5. I am still just a beginner, but I can see greatness in having a set of tools that easily collaborate with each other via plain text to organize all (and I mean all) aspects of my frazzled life in a way that my non-computer wife could understand. Beorg has been solid in the basics of this and I hope to see more come along (hint: basic photo/PDF mgmt). Thanks

It’s a task manager you can set up with your org files! Not much else you need there; it’s better than the alternatives on the app store and it lets me manage my TODO lists on the go. Five stars.

Floated around a few different todo apps but always found myself going back to eMacs Org Agenda. It’s really nice to have a mobile app that can read that same org file and is basically as extensible as eMacs is. If you’re happy to pay for some of the extras (which you should) you can do time tracking, syncing of calendars to org files and a few other things. 

Not too sure how good it is as a standalone todo app but for an eMacs user this is a really good way of accessing some of orgmode’s productivity features on the go

Beorg does two things for me that would otherwise be difficult using Emacs alone. First, it lets me keep up with existing tasks and add new ones on mobile devices. Second, it provides a simple way to make sure that Outlook calendar events show up on my Org agenda. For these two things alone, Beorg is well worth the cost and more.

### 2026.8 — 2026-07-28

In this release:

+ Many updates to the new 'experimental' outliner, which can be enabled from the Customize settings screen (or using the Scheme variable ~outliner-use-new-outliner~).
+ You can choose how beorg opens selected headlines in the Customize settings screen.
+ Fix for the item editor not allowing you to select sub-items if the file is read only.
+ Fix for the text editor allowing editing of read only files.
+ Fix for deleting files still cropping up in search results.

### 2026.7 — 2026-07-17

• If a headline has a repeat with habit minimum/maximum ranges, the first value will now be used to advance the date when it is marked as done. For example, SCHEDULED: “2026-07-06 Mon .+2d/4d”, when marked as complete on 2026-07-08, will be advanced to 2026-07-10 rather than 2026-07-12.

• Building on the above, if a headline has the STYLE property set to habit, the item will become overdue only after the maximum range has passed. For example, a headline with SCHEDULED: “2026-07-03 Fri .+2d/4d” will appear as overdue on 8 July, but not on 7 July—the fourth and final day on which the habit should be completed.

• Fixes some places where agenda-file? and tasks-file? were not being consulted when constructing an agenda or task list, including in the widget and some searches. These are Scheme functions intended for advanced users who want to exclude certain files from the agenda and task list.

### 2026.6 — 2026-06-30

Behind the scenes, beorg now uses Apple’s modern package management system instead of an older third-party solution. It’s not a change you’ll notice directly, but it simplifies development, helps future-proof the app, and should make it easier to keep everything running smoothly into the future.

Also in this release are some fixes for bugs related to the last update:

+ Fix for WebDAV sync sometimes failing
+ Fix for space being added before '/' when constructing a saved search
+ Fix for app not syncing when foregrounded/backgrounded or importing new share sheet captures

+ Sync should now be faster, especially if you have lots of files and/or use Dropbox sync
+ Fix for repeated reminders not working as expected if you select a future repeat in the agenda
+ Updated the Box SDK (used for Box sync)

+ If you've enabled "Sync Calendar to a file" beorg will now try and stop duplicates of certain types of entry appearing (this is usually birthdays or observances coming from multiple calendars)
