However I noticed in the latest versions every time I open the app and go to make an entry, before I can it tries to convince me to upgrade to the new ongoing subscription service. Thank you thank you thank you for adding this feature!!! I like to have copies of my receipts, but without the paper! Comes in handy in case I need to do a quick return or exchange, or if I simply want to track expenses. The best part is that I don't need to clog my photo album with random pictures of receipts. Please note, I am using the pro version. The basic version was fine but I had WAY too many transactions to be limited to the few allowed in the basic version. It was not only practical for what I needed, but wise. Tracking expenses is important to know where your money is going. I use it for all our monthly spending, and have done for years. It’s also really useful at the end of the year for working out expenses totals. Love the simplicity, I just wanted a reliable way to track spending. Never had a problem with it, and you can back up to iCloud or Dropbox. Love the new update (October 2022)! I especially like the simplified backup options at the top of Settings. It might be a good idea to put these at the top of the main page to remind you to back up. Update: I've been using Best Budget for about 10 years at least, and it's a fantastic tool for staying on top of your monthly budget. Simple to use and very reliable. It also provides very useful charts of categorized annual spending for your accountant. ### 2/5 — Best budget ever !! *2023-08-13, version 8.0.2* I have had the basic for quite a few years now… easier for me, but now everytime I make an entry it wont stop trying to get me to upgrade. So frustrating and I’ve tried to email them with no response ### 1/5 — Paid for the App to find out there’s subscription *2023-10-15, version 8.0.2* Not all features are available (the most needed ones are not) and to unlock them you need to pay for the subscription. I think the App should be free and let the customer decide to go with subscription payment or not than a double whammy finding out you paid for a locked app. I prefer a refund as the most useful features need an ongoing payment - I do not see myself using the App often considering this would be an expensive add on cost to tight budget which I might as well spend bit of time using excel and creat a permanent one off solution to cut cost. ### 1/5 — Paywall in the paid app is annoying *2023-08-18, version 8.0.2* The app is good, although developer became exponentially greedier recently. I’ve been using it for many years. Here are the best things about it: 1. The search feature. You can search for any purchase you’ve ever made. If I want to know when was the last time I bought shampoo, I can search for it (as long as I put shampoo in my note). If I want to know how much I spent on my property taxes last year, I can search and pull up the purchase. You get the idea. It’s extremely useful. 2. Adjusting the budget. I change my budget every 3 months, depending on my spending habits, and this app allows you to change these options as often as you want. 3. The simplicity. So many apps use bright colors, cute designs, or limitless options to draw you in, but eventually, I discovered that when it comes to keeping track of finances, simple and functional is best. 4. The totals. When you open your app, you can immediately tap to see your totals for the month, including how ahead or behind you are. That’s all I need sometimes, and it’s super easy to get to. This app outshines all the rest. There are also graphs you can create, that I personally don’t use much, but some people might find helpful. If I had to choose something it could improve on, I’d say that the total you see when opening the app should be your monthly total, not the total from since you started using the app. That isn’t a very useful total to see, and shouldn’t be the first one it shows. But that’s such a small thing, it’s not really important. I didn’t want an app that connected to my bank or credit card, just a way to track my spending by category. There are some features I’d like to see work differently (for example, it would be great for the reports to include how much you spent by category by month in dollar totals, not just percents, as well as how much you were over or under budget in a category for a selected time range). But it does the basic functions I want it to do very well, and I can export a CSV when I want to analyze further. I recommend it!
