What sets it apart from more popular dating apps is its focus on authenticity, which is something the dating world desperately needs. One feature I love is the ability to see a video of the person you’re interested in, not just static profile pictures. This eliminates the heavy use of filters that can often give a distorted sense of who someone really is. To me, that feature alone is monumental. It gives you a much better sense of the person, making interactions more genuine and meaningful. On top of that, you can tell that the company is really putting in the effort. They’re very responsive to reviews and feedback, which shows they care about improving the app and addressing user concerns, instead of just ignoring them like some other platforms. Overall, Better in Person is already better than many other apps out there, and I can see it becoming a go-to for people looking for real connections. I highly recommend keeping an eye on this app as it continues to grow! ### 3/5 — Crickets *2024-10-10* I mean the one positive I can say about this app is I am not getting hounded 12 times to buy premium everytime I log in. That being said, it’s empty. I haven’t had a single suggestion for a person to meet in weeks. And I think I’ve seen 3 profiles total. Wondering if their verification system is too out of wack to actually have people join and not just give up. ### 4/5 — No matches in my area *2024-10-03* I love the idea and concept of this app, I also love how it sets up your profile. I have it a four star because it’s very limited to people in my area. I couldn’t find anyone in my area. ### 3/5 — No Ghosting ? *2024-09-28* App failed to set up a date for the woman I matched with because she’s “in another city“. In reality, we live very close together, we are separated by just a couple miles, so that excuse is hardly a good one. In any case I’ve gotten in touch with her and asked her if she is ready to meet, since that is what I expect from this app. And she has not gotten back to me. I am going to ask again now, after which, I expect her to ghost me. Because that’s what women on dating apps do. Ghost men. You need to grow a pair and realized that something worth having sometimes requires, in fact *always requires* taking a risk. Women, if you won’t take that risk, you will always be alone. ### 2/5 — Not a great experience *2024-09-21* This app is not the best for people with standards. After about a day it said that I had to adjust my filters to see other people because it ran out of people and it says that new people join daily it’s been three weeks and it still says there’s nobody in my area that fits my standards I also had a date but we had to plan it ourselves the app didn’t like it’s supposed to do. They want you to do the premium so bad, it's $30 for a WEEK. Ive been on this thing for weeks and not one single date has materialized either. Not great, Bob. ### 2/5 — Great idea but disappointed on recent change *2024-09-02* It’s a refreshing concept and helps with eliminating fake profiles. Due it being a new app, the candidate pool is still very limited. I kept getting the same profiles on my feed repeated. I ended up canceling my account because a recent change gives free members 12 profiles per day instead of 20 in the previous version. Disappointing. **Developer response:** We hear you. Our app is just 2 weeks old, so naturally, the selection won’t match Hinge (13 years), Bumble (10 years), or Coffee Meets Bagel (12 years) just yet—but we’re growing daily and on the App Store’s social networking chart for Top Free. The repeated profiles issue shouldn’t be happening unless you tap “Revisit Profiles,” which allows you to view profiles again. We’ll definitely look into it. As for the profile limit change, we’re constantly testing to find the right balance. ### 2/5 — Empty *2024-09-01* It’s a really cool concept. There aren’t enough people using it though. Very few people near me. ### 2/5 — Taking back my 5 star rating *2024-09-01* I spent $30 on a subscription for the ability to change my filter settings and I get absolutely nobody in my feed. Not even a man asking me out on a date. This app doesn’t work, it’s a waste of money. Supposedly they’re only in NY and LA and I’m in NY but there is nobody to look at…so how am I supposed to go on any dates?! **Developer response:** If you’re not satisfied, just reach out for a refund. It’s as simple as that! 😊 ### 2/5 — 2 stars but room for lots of easy improvement *2024-08-31* The concept is great. The video prompt helps to get that sense of vibe from a person and is unique. Love the idea for suggestions for a restaurant between both locations, however, this is the first fault in design. Scheduling can be tough and plans can be made a few days removed. Getting a prompt every other message I send is abysmal. There needs to be a silence feature or as “we figured somewhere else” button to dismiss it. I talked to someone for over an hour and had 59 prompts for choosing a restaurant. Too much! Which bring me to the next point; who thought putting the “pass” button at the bottom of the chat right next to “send a message?” That designer should be fired. Misclick and a potential partner is gone to the abyss. The boxes at the top and away from general typing is enough. Let’s start with those fixes and this is easily a 3.5-4. **Developer response:** Just to clarify, it’s not possible to accidentally pass on someone. If you tap "Pass," it asks for confirmation, and even if you confirm by mistake, there’s an undo button. Regarding the 59 messages you sent to your match (118 total messages exchanged), the app is specifically designed to avoid endless chatting—hence the name "Better In Person." If you're looking for long conversations, we respectfully suggest switching to Bumble and updating your review to 1 star, so others know that penpals won’t find a fit here and should look elsewhere. Thank you. ### 4/5 — Horrible *2024-08-29* I wouldn’t recommend this to nobody. Once again you don’t meet nobody everybody on here is fake and they all ask for money whenever you try to meet up with somebody they never show up. This is the waste of time so I don’t recommend this to anybody. **Developer response:** It sounds like you encountered a scammer who didn’t show up and asked for money. Unfortunately, scammers can be found on all dating apps. The good news is, as of September 1st, we’ve implemented human review for every profile video, which basically eliminates this issue. They have gorgeous tall actors and models advertising this app in person, on videos, on billboards, etc. Yet no one I have ever seen on the app looks 1/10 as attractive. In fact, aesthetics aside, most of the people I see on the app look more socially awkward than the average person I would see on bumble or Tinder or hinge. I was genuinely excited about this app because the advertising is fun and the app is exciting and new and I love the video idea. Like one of the options for dating preferences is trying not to get murdered. Who thinks that way, it’s just gross and so delusional. I slowly got more and more annoyed as I got closer to the end, but the Ai written bios really sealed the deal. Having an algorithm write your bio is as inauthentic as you can get. I swiped a few profiles and it was pretty weird just reading a robot’s interpretation of each person. Then I deleted it. Great waste of time. Low population. *2024-10-12* Very recently downloaded Better In Person and love the design of this app. It’s profile setup puns are really quippy and made me smile. I also REALLY love the AI profile recommendations. Creating a profile is very easy and actually pretty fun reading what it generates. The concept is a really good idea; meeting in person and dating with the intention of an actual relationship. The execution so far has also been really well done. The setup experience is at least on par or even better than the big 3 dating apps and MUCH better than many of the less popular apps. That being said, just after 1 swiping session I’ve already gotten through all of the profiles aged 21-28 in the Seattle area. I would guess that this app would do much better in one of the mega cities like NY, LA, or Miami but as of right now this app definitely suffers from a lack of users.
