This would make the app significantly more usable and the BetterUp platform more valuable when I want to assess it at night. ### 2/5 — Lazy Long Term *2025-07-20, version 4.203.0* they did nothing absolutely nothing as a company to keep me in the loyalty funnel as a customer - what a shame! ### 3/5 — Amazing Coaches/Articles; Devs Need to Fine Tune the App *2024-10-30* Coming out of my first session of BetterHelp, I felt reassured of the financial investment I made.I am very happy with my coach, but the app could use some improvement. Positives: • I appreciate the “up next” feature • The articles are very engaging since they are formatted almost as flash cards or stories you see on instagram. This kept me engaged. • As a data person, it’s nice to see my insights as a whole person as well as articles attached to my strengths and weaknesses. Areas for Improvement • The ability to save an article with the “plus” sign should be available in the “up next” carousel, not just under the “discover” section. • “View on Mobile” was not available for all articles (ex available for “Focus 101”, but not “Cognitive Agility 101” when tested on iPad. • Include ability to add sessions to Calendar • Section for notes to reflect on articles would be nice. • A widget that features “up next” or assigned articles based on what you’re focusing on would be great ### 2/5 — Re-scheduling in app a hassle *2023-09-18, version 4.143.0* Constantly tells me that I’ve exceeded my month’s scheduling even though I’m re-scheduling. A lot of scheduling problems with the app. ### 4/5 — Didn’t work for me but great customer service *2023-08-21* I wasn’t able to find a coach with the right background to help me. Took 1 session and it wanted to cancel. They refunded me for the unused session we I don’t think they technically had to do that was nice. ### 1/5 — Absolutely unhelpful and embarrassing *2022-11-16, version 4.117.0* I signed up thinking this was an app someone had recommended to me (I realized later that was an app of a similar name but different). This app is for wannabe influencers. I’m embarrassed to have downloaded it. ### 1/5 — App and site are in a constant loop, crashing *2022-08-23* Love the concept, but the app and site have terrible performance issues and bugs. Upon logging in, I cannot ‘skip to home’ to access scheduling. It is a constant loop of trying to load but it never gets past the ‘Explore Coaches” screen. I’ve already selected a coach so why would the app and site default to selecting a coach?! Makes no user. The connectivity experience on BetterUp is frustrating — sessions frequently disconnect or are difficult to join, even when Zoom and other apps work perfectly on the same connection. The issue happens both in the mobile app and browser on my laptop. BetterUp really needs a more reliable and user-friendly way to connect to sessions. 2. Scheduling sessions is unnecessarily cumbersome. Having to click through every two weeks to view/select dates makes the process tedious. It would be much better to display all available dates at once for easier scheduling. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work! *2026-04-10, version 4.247.0* App is not working and the support from BetterUp is not helpful. ### 1/5 — Useless and Coach-less *2026-01-09, version 4.221.0* It’s just waste of time and money! The coaches just want to fill-up the time of the session! They come unprepared! If you want an unlicensed therapist this app is for you, there is literally no coaching. Not to mention it auto renews the crazy fee that they charge monthly even if you have pending paid sessions. Do better!! ### 1/5 — Not what I needed *2024-06-20* I have been struggling to find a coach who isn’t just trying to be a pseudo-therapist. I really wanted a COACH coach, someone who pushes you and REALLY holds you accountable. That is not what any of their coaches appear to be when you sign up. Its a very Brene Brown-esque “safe space” vibe. Maybe if you're a workaholic with a lot of work stress and perfectionism thats what you need, but when I signed up for a productivity coach that is not what I was expecting and DEFINITELY not what I need. **Developer response:** Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Sincerely, BetterUp ### 1/5 — Unclear and missing functionalities *2024-03-15, version 4.162.0* My experience with BetterUp platform has been confusing and challenging. 1. If you have different plans e.g. care coaching provided by your employer, you cannot have your own personal coaching (e.g. communication, career) added to it. You can only access the personal coaching messages in the mobile app, however you can easily access them for your care coaching plan. I have to use separate channels to access (care coaching - website; personal - mobile app). It’s not user friendly. 2. There are certain areas (goals & actions) and articles/exercises that you are unauthorized to see. It’s not clear in the plan. You get the answers/explanation through support 3. The plans and marketing docs look confusing and there’s no central view of how everything’s tied together. There’s an option for career coaching but there’s one for Betterup Lead. Hoping they can simplify everything to avoid confusion with these different coaching areas. ### 1/5 — Kept charging me after I requested to cancel. *2023-07-28* Subscriptions are set up to milk users rather than serve users. If you pause your subscription, they auto renew without your consent. You have to cancel by logging in online through their portal. They will not cancel if you request to cancel otherwise. Awful support. Took me 3 tries to find a coach that spoke English and I had to manually ask to be matched. That coach barely helped with me anything, as he was overworked and had too many other clients from both Betterup, Ezra and their own business. Also it's insanely expensive. ### 1/5 — Style over substance , unworldly *2023-03-16, version 4.127.0* The app pretends to provide a helpful interface into coaching. But the key functionality you need to get successful coaching sessions organised is missing. For example , many people prefer to have their coaching sessions at a regular time. The app lets you schedule a whole sequence of appointments with your coach … and then sends you calendar appointments for these sessions. Impressive huh ? Not really… Because the app does not perform the basic check to see if the coach is actually available at those times for each appointment. The app goes ahead and incorrectly generates calendar invites for dates when the coach has said they will not be available. But if you look at your own calendar you would foolishly believe that you have a sequence of coaching appointments arranged. But you don’t. But the coach’s availability is visible in other screens in the app. Ridiculous. My advice to the team is sort out the basics and spend less time chasing and/or paying for celebrity endorsements ### 1/5 — Beware *2022-12-25, version 4.120.1* Be aware that when you invest in this app, you are not investing in yourself as they want you to believe, you are investing in them getting very rich to pay themselves and the inept Prince Harry outrageous amounts of money. I’ve been working with Melinda the whole time and I can say I’m not the same person as I was when I first started. She has been an incredible coach who has walked with me through some really hard experiences in my career and has helped me overcome them. Melinda always takes the time to listen to what’s going on and from there she gives insight and helps me navigate what I’m trying to say and my feelings.
