“The panic button” I recorded a video message to my future self. Played it back tonight and I’m just going on and on about my daughter. Love her. Gotta stay sober for her❤️

I just decided one day when i was using the app and feeling strong that it might be worth it to use betttr’s panic button features to leave written and video message for my future self. I wanted to help my future self who might be struggling with an uncontrollable urge.  Then today.  quit my job. boss cursed me and called me names.  i had a really strong urge to just escape.  but, because I had a future message loaded all i had to do was click it.  for the first few seconds i am listing reasons and then my boyfriend slides into frame and tell me he loves me and kisses my forehead.  small gesture but it reminded me of who im doing it for.  he’s so important to me.  My reason for being sober was right in front of me in that moment. Stayed abstinent! 10 days sober! focused on 11😇

I love the fact that even though this app is helping me quit gambling, it feels good to be able to ground my journey. Coming to the app and being able to have something tangible to mark my growth makes me so much more excited to do the healing. Plus it’s a hug bonus that they were so thoughtful in their programming for meditation and breathwork
