Honestly? Not worth the wait. There is a real paucity of queer representation on this platform (I’m in a major city and ran out of queer matches by day four, it’s all been heteroflexible since), and a surprising number of people are looking for monogamous or monogamish relationships, which seems counter to the whole concept. This just clearly isn’t the app for me. Maybe if they expand their user base there’ll be something there, but the current “thoughtful curation” or whatever just isn’t it. Original review: The latest update says most applications are reviewed in about three days. I have been waiting over three months, and that’s with a referral from a member, something that’s supposed to expedite the process. Would love to review the function of the app, but all I can say right now is that it’s taking up space on my phone. ### 2/5 — Good for local events + nothing else *2026-07-14* There are local chats you can join for IRL plans/events which is really amazing, hence the 2 stars. One star otherwise; the dating side is garbage. Please let me out of your beyond jail I’m begging you ### 2/5 — Just not enough users *2026-06-03* This app is well designed, i just wish i had more than 3 people to tap through (seriously, there’s only three people on my end). it had a good foundation, it just needs to get a bigger user base. ### 2/5 — Confusing *2026-04-13* I’ve been using it for a few months and one thing confuses me a lot. I keep getting shown the same people over and over but one of my friends (a curvy woman of color, experienced in the lifestyle) has essentially been rejected with no reason given. My other friend, white and skinny, with little experience, got approved immediately. They are the same age. It’s confusing how much the app is promoted - seems like they need more users but then they turn people away with no reason or feedback it seems. I’m not sure what is happening and there’s no way to find out. Not the best start to exploring this community at all. ### 1/5 — Is Anybody Home? *2025-07-03* I ‘applied’ probably two months ago and haven’t gotten a response either way. Considering I’m a poly woman that dates intentionally, and the dating pool tends to be saturated with men, this leads me to believe that either the app isn’t functional anymore, or they’re being extremely shallow and narrow with their criteria. A “small team” Is no excuse to dismiss applicants like this. This is more nefarious. According to several other applicants, you are profiled according to race, looks and age. So rampant discrimination is obvious. After seeing the advertisements of this platform in social media, it makes total sense. I would not recommend wasting your time on this, and skip over the inflated reviews (they’re obvious if you are able to read at a basic level). **Developer response:** Hi fandaico - we've launched our private beta and are still in beta. If you'd like us to delete your info please let us know and we can do that. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2024-11-09* The app after 2 weeks completely crashed and no longer works. I have deleted it and redownloaded it, and it still doesn’t work. ### 1/5 — Keeps you busy for 2 min then nothing *2024-10-30, version 21* You get 3 super mid swiped per day then wait 24 hours. On an app that has zero market share you’d think they’d have more options lol. Supposed to compete with Raya and Luxy for exclusivity but is w literal waste of time. Keep swiping on the other apps ### 1/5 — Not a Good Experience At All- concept is flawed *2024-10-15* Took months to actually get approved and it was through some random person sending a text message that almost look like spam. This.”modern” club style of vetting members is not ideal for an app where people are actually trying to get to know others sooner than later. I’ve had friends that never got approved and no response to why Once you finally again, from a male perspective, all of the women look like AI or just extremely done up, which seems unrealistic. Three swipes today is treacherous. The odds are already against most average men due to algorithm, but limiting to three swipes per day is almost minimizing chances of matches to 0%. Save your time reader! Go out into the world and bring back in person organic matches. These apps are just breeding grounds for marketing and consumer exploitation **Developer response:** Hi there elou22 - sorry you're having a bad experience on Beyond. You should come check out our IRL events and featured member events. We have a few every month and it's a great opportunity to meet people in real life which sounds like that might resonate with you more given your comments about online dating. Also it'll give you a chance to see that our members really are just that compelling ;) We don't have any AI or fake accounts as every person is verified before being approved. The reason we have 3 swipes per day is because we want to encourage more intentionality and not just have the endless abyss of swiping that creates burnout and app fatigue. We actually get a lot of positive feedback on the 3 swipes per day, though it sounds like you're looking for more. Soon you will have the option to have more than 3 swipes per day. This app is not worth the space on your phone. I (F) have TWO solid referrals, great standing in the community, and have waited over a YEAR with no approval or denial. It’s about building a community. In just two weeks, I’ve had five dates that have either already happened or are planned, and every single interaction has felt more intentional than what I’ve experienced elsewhere. The people here seem genuinely interested in getting to know each other, whether that’s romantically, platonically, or somewhere in between. One of the smartest features is the three matches a day model. Instead of endless scrolling and decision fatigue, you’re encouraged to actually engage with the people you’re introduced to. It creates quality over quantity, and surprisingly, that works. You become more thoughtful with your conversations, and people tend to show up with more authenticity. What has truly set Beyond apart, though, are the IRL Boards. They create opportunities for real human connection outside of the traditional dating framework. A perfect example is Luna, who had recently moved to a neighboring city and posted that she was simply looking to make new friends and build connections. I reached out. She responded. Next thing you know, we’re grabbing lunch. Now she’s joining our group for a weekend away. That’s not something I ever expected to happen through a dating app, and yet here we are. Beyond has created an environment where people can expand their social circles, find meaningful relationships, and rediscover the joy of meeting others of like mind organically. In fact, I was even a bit egotistical about never having been on one. But after hearing so many incredible things about this dating app, which is also a community of supremely interesting and attractive human beings, I finally joined. My very first connection was a bullseye. 🎯 We hit it off right away; first date fireworks. We’ve been inseparable ever since. The features in the app are thoughtful, intentional and refreshing compared to the inane lack of features in other apps. I can’t stop talking about this app to my friends. But I’ve never really felt like Beyond was just a dating app. It’s a curated, intentional, and evolved community, with members whose interests span the dynamics of intimate and platonic relationships. If I had to make a comparison to other apps it’s like a better mix of like raya (minus the pretentiousness) and feeld (without the bots). From what I’ve experienced, other members are direct, have great mindsets and respect representative of high eq folks. I appreciate the features: three potential matches a day (though admit i wish it was more like 5); option to save a potential march to think about rather than force you to choose in a moment; seamless group chats; and media sharing that works. “Beyond” that, live events are fire. People are engaged and the beyond folks seem to effortlessly encourage that. The venues and program are exciting and fun, seem to flow naturally, and encourages engagement without compromising on safety or accountability. Make a friend take you to one, or go solo.
