But as much as I want to give it priority, the app just falls flat on basic usability. The interface feels messy and disjointed—almost like it’s trying to be a know-it-all app that crams everything in without mastering the core stuff. When I open it, simple UI features like a neatly aligned recent contacts list, pinned favorites, or an organized way to track business payments and credit cards just aren't there. Google Pay nailed this layout years ago. I love the concept of BHIM, but until it cleans up the chaos and gets the fundamental user experience right, it just can't be a daily driver. **Developer response:** Thank you for your suggestion. It failed. I am still waiting for refund of the money to my back. For example if I pay for a shop, add an option under the transaction history to tag the payment to a specific category such as Grocery, Electricity bill, tuition fee gee etc. ### 4/5 — Feature request *2025-10-29, version 4.0.9* I downloaded the BHIM app yesterday as looking to use it as a replacement of Gpay. The overall experience so far is great- the app is clean and smooth. Couple of feature enhancement requestsh: 1. Missing MGL line entry under Piped Gas bill payment section. 2. An option allowing users to give a nick name to each biller for quick identification would be helpful when you have multiple billers for same product category. Additionally, displaying the bill amount on the main page itself against each biller will be super useful, instead having to click on View Actions -> Pay Bill. 3. A quick refresh button on billers to validate if the bill is actually due and reflect (due / not due etc) on real time would help. Since, it is not always easy remember which one was paid (as users have multiple different apps/upi options for payment). Please review these and see if this can be implemented in next sprint. ### 2/5 — Unable to setup UPI lite *2025-10-20, version 4.0.9* I have setup the UPI on BHIM app and it works. I could not setup the UPI lite for some reason. Everything goes fine until the last step and it says transaction failed to add money to UPI lite. I tried to add a custom UPI id with my name and 4 digit number and it looks good until the last step that says, unable to add it. Tried a few times and it exceeded the limit. ### 1/5 — Bugs in mandate management *2025-09-27* Broken Support Link: When you click on the “App Support” link from the app page, it redirects to the BHIM website, but the page either shows “404 – Page Not Found” or provides no actual support contact. For a government-backed UPI platform handling money, this is unacceptable — users must have a way to raise complaints or seek help. Buggy Mandate Management: Another major flaw is with the mandate system. If you subscribe to a service through the App Store and give a UPI mandate, and later unsubscribe, the BHIM app still continues to show the mandate as active. Trying to revoke it repeatedly shows “Mandate revocation failed.” I now have 7-8 mandates for subscriptions that are already stopped, but they still appear in the BHIM app and cannot be removed. This is a very serious issue — it not only clutters the mandate list but also raises security and financial concerns. Back then, the app was simple, and the idea of mobile payments was new to many. I still remember the reactions when I told shopkeepers I was using BHIM , “Money will come no?”, “How can you send money from mobile?”, and even “Mobile phone is scary”. That was the mindset then. Fast forward to 2025, the app has evolved beautifully , smoother UI, better performance, and most importantly, a deeper connection to India’s digital backbone. Over the years, while Google Pay became the common name, BHIM remained my quiet powerhouse. And honestly, seeing the kind of cashback I get, I’ve stopped telling others about it. Let this gem remain known only to the few who truly deserve it , like a secret for the entitled. ### 5/5 — Outstanding UPI payment app *2025-07-18, version 4.0.4* BHIM is an outstanding UPI payment app that makes digital transactions incredibly simple and secure. The user interface is intuitive and modern, making navigation a breeze. Features like bill payments, expense tracking, and UPI Lite for small, instant payments are huge pluses. I appreciate the quick updates, smooth performance, and the addition of options like RuPay credit card on UPI. BHIM truly delivers on convenience and reliability for everyday payments in India. If you are concerned, just inform the customer and allow them to use the app on VPN. Blocking them from using anything on the app is straight up sinister if not stupid ### 1/5 — Potentially useful app becomes useless based on stupid “security practices” *2026-07-06, version 4.0.24* They disable the app because screensharing apps like vnc viewer is installed. They are completely misinformed. Vnc viewer only allows you to look at other desktop computer screens, not your own phone. Recently, I noticed advertisements appearing in the transaction history section. This is very disturbing and irritating while using the app. Kindly remove these ads or at least provide an option to disable them for a smooth, distraction-free experience. Also, I am using an iPhone and facing an issue with the widget. Earlier, when I selected the scan option from the widget, it directly opened the scanner. But now, it only opens the BHIM app, and I have to tap the scan option again manually. This defeats the purpose of having a widget. Please fix this so that tapping the scan option in the widget directly opens the scanner, as it did before. The recent updates have been glitchy. After a month of usage I tried to redeem the accumulated cash back, and immediately the app glitched saying there was an error try again. But then all the accumulated cash back was back to zero, there is nothing in transaction history nor in my bank account. When I reached out to support team, they ask to continue to check my bank account. Wow! Update: Issue was resolved within a week. I have been using BHIM ever since it’s been released and there were some minor hiccups at the start and in between, but these days working fine for me, domestically and internationally. And it’s MPIN is a safe feature though sometimes it logs you out especially when you have not logged out properly! And it doesn’t charge you small fees that some other apps does! I would like to say that I have been using various UPI apps and to be specific I was using PhonePe for the past 3 years. I tried BHIM App and believe me it’s the Ultimate app. The sound plays after each payments give desi Indian vibes. BHIM also gives you Cashbacks on transactions if you fulfil the criteria or follow the rules. I am going to using this app from now on.
