### 5/5 — Great App.

*2025-11-27, version 44.2*

I really like this 100% better than the Bible Memory app. I LOVE the first letter and ability to listen to the verse. Thank you

### 5/5 — Works great

*2025-11-03, version 2.09*

This works great for me, one feature I appreciate is the ability to input from other translations and edit for memorizing the A or B part of a verse, etc.

### 5/5 — I use this often

*2025-10-30*

This app is great for memorizing scripture! I use it frequently and keep telling people about it. Sometimes I’ll put on a verse I want to memorize and recite it with the AI narrator in the car. I like the feature that allows me to pick the next word in the verse from five words, and once I think I know it, to then type it out. I use my collections as lists that I recite about specific topics to build faith. I highly recommend it!

**Developer response:** Thanks, Joel! Glad to hear the features are helpful to you! Sounds like you have a good system. Thanks for telling others about the app too!

### 5/5 — Excellent App

*2025-10-13, version 2.09*

I began memorizing scripture 50 years ago, and wanted to begin memorizing more. This app is fantastic! It is interactive which is more helpful than just reading a verse repeatedly. It gives you options of different techniques!

### 5/5 — Better than paid apps

*2025-08-08, version 2.09*

I am really impressed by this free app. It has a large variety of helpful features including an option that I’ve not yet found on any other app—the ability to listen to the selection of verses you are working on WITH the verse numbers said out loud as well. I’m recommending this app to our Bible Quizzing team to use for their practice throughout our Bible Quiz season. Thank you for this wonderful resource!

### 5/5 — Great App, memorized a lot using it!

*2025-08-07, version 2.09*

I mostly use this to collect verses to memorize, and then listen to specific verses on repeat. There are plenty of tools in the app as well you can choose to memorize with.
My only real wish is for there to be a streamlined offline option, similar to how Spotify let's you download playlists or songs if you have premium. You can download things, but it's not in an obvious location. I use this app almost every day though, and I really appreciate it :)

### 5/5 — It has everything you need for free!

*2025-07-31, version 2.09*

Finally, a scripture memory app that can repeatedly read the passage you are trying to memorize. It gives you all the premium features from other apps for free. It’s great.

### 5/5 — Locked in

*2025-07-26, version 2.09*

Verse locker has locked me into memorizing scripture! Hooray

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2025-07-25, version 2.09*

This has made scripture memorization so much easier. Great tool. No more excuses to not do it.

### 5/5 — To know Him

*2025-07-08, version 2.09*

This is one awesome app, I’m really loving the different ways you can choose to memorize verses. I also enjoy pre-prepared scripture memory plan to deal with everyday life situations and encouragement. You really can’t ask for more in a free app, anything else has to be of personal preference.

### 5/5 — PhD Student

*2025-06-24, version 2.09*

Your search is now over. Download it… thank me later.

### 5/5 — Great Way to Memorize

*2025-06-08, version 2.09*

I love the different methods offered to memorize and the ability to change Bible versions. It’s easy to use and helpful.

### 5/5 — Senior citizens

*2025-06-06, version 2.09*

I haven’t tried memorizing in 50 yrs. But I’m working at it now and enjoying it. 1st verse Ps 119:11
Says it all.

### 5/5 — Great Memory Verse App!

*2025-06-02, version 2.09*

I have used other memory verse apps, but this one is by far the best. I like that there are 4 different ways to help review as you memorize. I just shared the app with my 86 yo mom and she's already on her second verse.

### 5/5 — Very Useful App

*2025-05-06, version 2.09*

Verse Locker has a great collection of memorization tools available and I use most of them. Thank you for providing such a well thought out app. If you are looking for an app to help you memorize, this one has it all!

### 5/5 — Great

*2025-04-23, version 2.09*

This is a really great Bible verse memory app. It is completely free and makes memorizing verses easy. Best out there!!

### 4/5 — Great Memory Verse App!

*2025-04-17, version 2.09*

VerseLocker is a great memory verse app! It lets you categorize the verses by your own topic, has fun methods to memorize your verses, and you can memorize with friends! It’s also free - unless you want to memorize as a Bible study group, then it’s $150. It’s a little pricey but as an artist myself, I understand that all of this takes a lot of time and money.

The main thing I have a hard time with is the UI (user interface). I notice that everything in the app is very big font and close together. Which makes it hard if you want to try to find verses fast because you have to scroll so far down to even get to the second verse.

If that bothers you, I noticed that Versify has a very nice UI and is easy on the eyes. It just doesn’t have all the functions that VerseLocker can give you for a Bible study group. It’s better for individuals.

An example where the UI is using too much space is if you go to the Categories section, and go inside one of the categories, the verses take up so much space on screen that it’s hard to scroll through all the verses in there. The icons listed at the top, “Edit”, “Add”, “Share”, “Play”, “Select All”, “Sort”, and “Filter,” take up so much room on the screen that you barely see the first verse on the screen when you go in. Probably having them fit on one line would be perfect. And if the “Practice,” “Edit,” “Select,” and “Listen,” were taken off the list view but were only inside the verse itself, that would save space as well. Or if the words were taken off of the buttons and only the icons were used, that would also save a lot of space.

I’m sorry for all the unsolicited advice to the developers. I just love this app and I want to see it succeed. This app has amazing functions and I’m excited to see this app progress! And I will admit that I haven’t looked at the desktop version and I know it’s a lot of work to try to make both versions work well for each platform. Good luck!

Lastly, if the developers reading this want any more feedback, please let me know by answering this review and I will contact you all. I have more thoughts but I don’t want to bore the users reading this. Otherwise, I will make sure to not give unsolicited advice out again haha.

Hope everyone reading this has a wonderful rest of their day/night! Thanks for reading!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not as expected

*2026-04-13, version 44.2*

I wanted an app that helped me with memorizing verses of my choosing. After attempts to add my verses to my own collection, I have given up. Not user friendly for what I wanted to use it for. Description is misleading!!!!

### 1/5 — Nope

*2024-11-22, version 2.09*

I thought I’d try this in spite of the several things it tracks. First screen: create an account. Nope. You don’t need my information. If there is “no catch,” if it’s “truly free,” then you don’t need any info. The verses should be on device (I don’t want or need them saved elsewhere, synced, etc.), and there is zero *valid* reasons to require an account.
Edit: your claims about what you do or don’t do are just that: claims. Again, you don’t need ANY information, so asking for it means you’re doing something you don’t need to do.

### 1/5 — Stopped Loading

*2024-10-28, version 2.09*

I did start to get familiar with it but was unable to do anything (illness). And so I’m reasserting myself but I can’t get anything to open except a white screen. Tried deleting and reloading. Still nothing. IOS
Moving on!

### 1/5 — email

*2023-10-26, version 2.05*

don't force me to sign up for the app just to email me without permission! i just made an account to use the app.

### 2/5 — Not “all versions”

*2023-10-30, version 2.05*

I was looking for an app that would repeat the verses I am memorizing in the ESV or the GW version-plain language for sharing with this generation. However, though “works with all versions” is in the description of the app these are not available. Neither are many of the other versions that are easy for those without a strong biblical background available, such as the message or even the Phillips translation. I tried erasing the provided text and replacing it with the version I’m working on, but these were “corrected” back to one of the provided versions. I am so disappointed.

### 3/5 — Was looking forward to using this app but

*2026-02-13, version 44.2*

When trying to download I had to give my Apple password and debit card for age verification then it said the payment didn’t go thru so it won’t download.

### 3/5 — Pretty good for a simple design

*2025-05-19, version 2.09*

I’m enjoying the options for pasting my own verses in.
A bit of feedback. It - amazingly! - allows me to paste in verses from other languages. In Arabic the “Blur” and “Word” and “Type” options all work - kind of. However because it’s a right to left language the formatting does get confused at points.

### 3/5 — Problem with connecting

*2024-09-16, version 2.05*

I have had wonderful success learning with the app and now it won't connect to my internet. Very frustrating since I used it to study my memory verses.

### 3/5 — One verse at a time…

*2024-01-02*

This is a good app in the sense that it has a variety of ways to memorize. It’s also great because it doesn’t seem to have a limit to the number of verses you can memorize. However, for memorizing a collection or passage (basically anything besides a single verse), there is no way for it to build on itself. This is extremely annoying, to have to type, “Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, Matthew 5:1” And then hit the next arrow, and type “and he began to teach them. He said: Matthew 5:2” etc. If I am memorizing a passage, I want to be able to add the verses I have memorized so that it is one big piece, not dissected into tiny pieces, which feels counterproductive to trying to recall what comes next.

**Developer response:** VerseLocker does include a feature that allows you to import larger portions of Scripture (such as Matt 5:1-8 or the entire chapter) instead of individual verses. If you have any questions about how this works, please email us at support@verselocker.com. We certainly want to help improve your VerseLocker experience.

### 3/5 — Works, but much room for improvement

*2023-03-26*

This app does what it needs to help me memorize scripture in virtually any translation using a variety of methods.
This app has helped me memorize several verses quickly before a quiz at Bible school. I’m grateful for this and that it is free with no ads. I am especially grateful that syncing verses between my iPad and iPhone works well. Whenever I am waiting in line or have downtime it is easy to pull up the verse I am working on and make some progress.

That said, there is much need for UI change as it is a bit clumsy to navigate. For instance, managing verses is very awkward. Editing collections is an exercise in patience.
Therefore, I imagine that my boomer parents or anyone older would be easily frustrated by this.

Further, the lack of multi screen support on iPad is disappointing, especially if I have an assignment from my Bible College on a web browser and want to create a collection on the app side-by-side. This just isn’t an option right now.

I’d be happy to donate to this app if I knew that these design changes could be possible.

### 5/5 — Favorite App & it’s free!!

*2026-07-10*

I can not believe this amazing app is Free! I have been memorizing scripture without an app for a year, using good old trust worthy index cards😉 This app is a game changer and it’s fun, and it keeps your records and you have it with you all the time, and they have sooo many cool resources. But the best thing is that you can truly tell the staff and developers of this app love the Word of God and are on a mission to help all his people learn and memorize scripture. “I have treasured your Word in my heart, so that I may not sin against you. Psalm 119:11. Thanks for this App!!!

**Developer response:** Wow! Thanks for this kind review. Yes, we do care about people memorizing Scripture, and we love keeping the app free! You may be interested in other resources from Scripture Memory Fellowship (scripturememory.com), the parent non-profit ministry behind VerseLocker. Regardless, keep up the good work memorizing God's Word!

### 5/5 — Great tool for memorizing Scripture

*2026-05-12, version 44.2*

### 5/5 — Great resource!

*2026-04-04, version 44.2*

I am enjoying using verde locker to memorize scripture. The different ways it provides to practice is fun and helpful. One minor tweak would be removing the subtitles from paragraphs. Also, when practicing a verse in Spanish, the reference has to be typed in English. Keep up the good work! Thanks!

Plus the leader boards and collections keep the experience fresh and adds visual progression to your memorization journey. I will be donating to this ministry as soon as possible. I suggest you download this app, start memorizing the Bible :).
