## What is Bible Vocab+?

Bible Vocab+ is a simple and fun way to learn vocabulary from the Greek New Testament and the Hebrew Old Testament. Watch our online tutorial here: https://youtu.be/W63jhYWNNv0

Professor Robert Plummer (co-author of Going Deeper with New Testament Greek) said about the app: 'Who could imagine that a Greek New Testament vocabulary app with this much power and flexibility even existed? I'm amazed at the intuitive design and ability to customize vocabulary acquisition to particular sections of text. I'm confident that this vocabulary app will help thousands of pastors and students read the Greek New Testament with greater fluency, confidence, and understanding. I enthusiastically endorse it.'

* Vocab Lists *
You can choose vocab lists from any passage in the Bible or from the following leading Greek and Hebrew textbooks:
* Fuller & Choi, Invitation to Biblical Hebrew
* Garrett & DeRouchie, A Modern Grammar for Biblical Hebrew
* Hackett, A Basic Introduction to Biblical Hebrew
* Pratico & Van Pelt. Basics of Biblical Hebrew (eds. 2 & 3)
* Ross, Introducing Biblical Hebrew, Baker Academic
* Seow, A Grammar for Biblical Hebrew
* Baugh, A New Testament Greek Primer
* Decker, Reading Koine Greek, Baker Academic
* Duff, The Elements of New Testament Greek
* Kostenberger, Merkle, & Plummer. Going Deeper with New Testament Greek
* Merkle & Plummer, Beginning with New Testament Greek
* Mounce, Basics of Biblical Greek
* Rollinson, Online Greek Textbook

NB. The vocab items may occasionally be in a different form to how they appear in the textbook.

* Spaced Repetition *
The smarter way to learn vocab. This allows you to test yourself on items at set intervals which increase the more times that record that know it correctly. Just tap on the spaced repetition button (the arrow button in the right corner) and it will tell you the words you need to study next.

* Reading Mode *
Use the power of spaced repetition to get better at reading whole verses in the Bible. If you've learned enough vocab in Spaced Repetition mode to cover whole verses, Reading Mode will introduce these verses to you, first with the parsing, dictionary form and glosses and thereafter you will need to read it just the original language. These verses will be shown to you at intervals which increase the more familiar you are with each verse.

* Slideshow Modes *
Vocab Mode: where you see the words in their dictionary form
Parsing Mode: where you see the words in the way they appear in the text and you are tested on their grammatical form.
Verses Mode: see whole verses as well as parsing, dictionary forms, and glosses.

* Greek Audio *
Dr. George Athas from Moore College in Sydney has recorded the audio for all the words in the Greek New Testament using a restored koine pronunciation system. You can try the audio for the 100 most frequently occurring used words for free and if you like it you can pay to download more.

* Data Sources *
You can choose between four Greek Testament texts: SBL, Westcott-Hort, Tischendorf, and Byzantine. The OT text is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex, as provided by Open Scriptures. The Greek Lexicons are:
* Dodson (2010) - greeklexicon.org
* Mounce Concise Greek-English Lexicon (© 1993. William Mounce. All Rights Reserved - billmounce.com/greek-dictionary)
The Hebrew/Aramaic Lexicon is derived chiefly from the Brown-Driver-Briggs, as provided by Open Scriptures.
You can also use the glosses from the available textbooks.

* Try for Free! *
'Bible Vocab+' is the full paid version of the app which will not need to be unlocked. If you would like to try it for free, you can download the 'Bible Vocab' app here:

### 5/5 — Very helpful app

*2026-07-18*

I have used this app for years and it has been great. It is easy to use and the spaced repetition is just right. I highly recommend it!

### 3/5 — Great App, BUT

*2025-10-19*

I really like the app and would love to give it 5 stars, BUT …. The Mounce Basics of Biblical Greek needs to be updated to 4th edition. This keeps me from using it for greek vocab and I have to use another app that I don’t like as much. I also would really appreciate the audio for Hebrew - this is what I’m having trouble with, without this it is almost impossible for me to learn the vocabulary. I really hope you can make these improvements!

### 4/5 — Great app with some drawbacks

*2025-09-20*

This is a great app for learning biblical languages. I love that the app is not just vocab, but you can also read the text and bring up detailed explanations of the words. I do feel like it reviews words I’ve already learned too often, though. I don’t think mastery of vocabulary is as important as with spoken languages. I dislike that I have to review all the old words before I can learn a new one. I also wish it had Hebrew audio. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like it’s being actively maintained, so improvements are unlikely. Still worth paying for, though.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-09-18*

This app connects to several biblical Hebrew grammars, making it easy to keep pace with the chapters as you learn the vocabulary.

### 1/5 — Transferable

*2025-06-16*

I purchased the app from an iPhone. It would not let me access my account on the iPad.

### 5/5 — Well thought-out

*2025-05-23*

I watched the brief video (link in app) and started learning right away. The designer of this app put a lot of consideration and work into it. I’m finding it an incredibly helpful tool for brushing up on vocabulary that I’ve forgotten and learning new words.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2024-09-07*

Very helpful app that allows you to work on Biblical Hebrew and Biblical Greek on the go without carrying around a textbook, especially for reviewing vocabulary words!

### 5/5 — Excellent! Watch tutorial.

*2024-02-22*

Really, really good app, make sure you watch the tutorial.

### 1/5 — Way overcharge

*2024-02-14*

Charged for two of the same apps 7.99 each and two identical in app purchases 7.99 each….beware…I was charged over 25 dollars for this one app…and Apple would not refund…

Just beware.

### 1/5 — Paid

*2024-02-12*

I paid for this Knapp, then didn’t get the credit, even after Apple charged me, and then I bough the plus and still couldn’t play Audio…to bad…charged twice and got nothing…deleted…
