### 4/5 — Clean functional application

*2008-12-18*

Now I know the cool feature of the iPhone is the ability to get things off the net, but I think it is pretty useless to have a Bible available only through the web like most of the other iPhone Bible apps, plus even though the speed of the iPhone data is nice, it is still too slow for searching and jumping around the Bible. This one stores the Bibles on your phone for your use ANYTIME and ANYWHERE regardless of having data signal availability. That is worth the price of admission alone. The interface is nice. I am not sure if I am using it to the full potential but I cannot see where I can select, book, chapter, AND verse. If it is in there and I just cannot find it, then please tell me where it is. Often in bible class or during service, the reference given to you is down to the verse level.
Other than that, this app is excellent, stable, and an excellent price. I would recommend without hesitation. Plus, the developer replies to your inquiries in a timely manner. Let's you know he cares and that is a plus in my book that will keep me paying attention to his development endeavours.

### 4/5 — please can you add the new international version of the bible!

*2008-10-28*

This app is great. Dear developer i think this great app would be geater if you can add the new international version of the bible to it.
I Hope you do this for us and God would bless you with more knowledge with great apps in the future. God bless you for this wonderfull app.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2008-10-05*

This is a great application! It is really easy to use. The price is ok with me, considering that you are getting several translations. I like being able to split and show 2 translations at a time. The developer, Kenny Ham, really does respond to your concerns and/or comments. I sent him a question and got a response within 24 hours.

### 5/5 — Fantastic functionality and user interface!

*2008-09-26*

This App is great! Can't say enough about it. I've been using the previous version up to this point. It wasn't difficult to decide on the upgrade to this "premium" edition of the application either. The version choices are outstanding with possibly more to come. The developer has continually improved the previous version and I'm sure will continue to do the same for this one. The upgrade in price is more than reasonable considering licensing fees with some of the versions. Keep up the great work, Kenny!

### 1/5 — BibleScope

*2013-02-20*

Prior to a few day ago my BibleScope App was working great on my iPad, but for some unknown reason it stopped. I have used the App often and found it to be a great necessity. Please advise on what I can do to remedy this situation.

Sincerely,
Willis Bateman Jr.

### 1/5 — So buggy

*2012-09-22*

It is a bad implementation. I bought a version, but it won't display. The settings don't work. I have deleted and downloaded again. Most expensive app, with worst performance. I am not a newbie.

### 2/5 — Buggy

*2010-04-21*

This app is great, but a bit buggy, downloading extra translations doesn't seem to work, you get a blank page and the app shuts down, and in the memory verse thing the flash cards will cut out some words so that the meaning is lost, or even reversed, (i.e. "Psalm 1: Blessed is he who sits in the seat of scoffers")
It really is great though, just could use some fixing up, and the "with NIV" version doesn't seem to exist.

### 2/5 — What's wrong with KJV with Strongs?

*2010-01-02*

Love this app, but why doesn't kjv with Strong's work? Please fix it, comes up blank! Love the app if it wasn't for this fault. Have deleted and reloaded, but still doesn't work. Worth 5 stars if it is fixed, otherwise it will be deleted. Please fix???!!

### 3/5 — Stopped working

*2013-02-17*

Does not work on original iPad since update

### 3/5 — Nice app but has one major flaw for me

*2010-12-01*

I bought this app as it says it includes all versions and the message, nice :) It does'nt tell you that you can only purchase in app download versions IE NIV from the US store only!! I feel like I've bought an app i can't use as this is my preferred version. perhaps the developers can sort this out. Otherwise a very tidy app with an easy managable interface

### 3/5 — great bible application - but no NIV outside USA/Canada? Shame

*2009-01-26*

Just the lack of NIV and NLT keeps this from a 5 star rating. Now discovering NIV is available, but not to me, is very disappointing.

Great presentation. Landscape view, especially split with Matthew Henry is great. Both halves of the split screen scroll independently.
Choosing chapters with rotary dial is great - this doesn't yet turn to landscape, so that would be a nice detail, as would having it without the click without having to silence the phone. These are minor details in a great app. I have tried almost all the others, and this is pulling ahead.
Brilliant. Thank you.

### 3/5 — Great App no update functionality

*2008-12-01*

I purchased this app only to discover that a new version was released. I would like to upgrade to the new version but I do not like the idea that I have to pay an additional 31 dollars even though I have paid 11 dollars for this version already.

### 4/5 — Many improvements.

*2014-04-18*

This is a great app. However when you upgrade phone you don't get the Bible versions you already paid for. This has happened twice.

### 4/5 — Almost Suits My Needs

*2009-01-02*

UPDATE
Since my last review, this app has addressed my concern about putting the Daily Reading plan native. Cool! However the plan is weird because the chapters to read aren't consistent from day to day. For example, Monday read Genesis 1-2, Tuesday Romans 1-2, Wednesday Psalms 1-2. It isn't until the following week that you pickup on Genesis 3-4, or Romans 3-4. I don't think that plan is good for comprehension.

**Original Review**
The only thing that disappointed me about the app is that the Bible In A Year feature is internet dependant even if a bible recides on the phone. All the cool features like bookmarks and notes cannot be applied when using the internet Bible In A Year reading plan. In contrast, I think the reading plan in the app Holy Bible by YouVersion might be better because of the text formatting.
I think BibleScope is a very good app. If the reading plan was native, then it would be even better IMO.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best bible software on iPhone

*2014-10-02*

I am translator and I like that I can split the screen.

### 5/5 — My favorite

*2012-11-12*

I've used Biblescope since it first came out. It has a great look and feel and is fairly intuitive. It has all the features you would expect in a serious study app: notes, split screen, etc. While there is no shortage of bible apps out there this is the one I've come to call home as it has the right balance of things I want and need.

### 5/5 — Perfect Bible App!

*2010-04-26*

And thanks for not charging extra for the iPad version! Intuitive and easy!

### 5/5 — Best by miles

*2010-01-06*

This is my favourite Bible app by miles. It's got landscape view and white text on black background, two things I've gotten used to from my days of mobile e-sword on my Dell PPC. The only things I would change would be: 1) the ability to change chapters and books in landscape and 2) with the KJV with STRONGS it's a bit of a nuisance clicking on a word for the Greek and bringing up the menu bars top and bottom when I don't want them. A suggestion would be a double tap or two finger tap to bring up the menu bars. Apart from these minor gripes this app is almost perfect. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Update.
What a developer, everything I asked for and so much more. Thank you.

### 5/5 — Don't Hesitate

*2009-05-26*

This app and the Message work great. This is an excellent marraige of the Bible and iPod. A great bonus is being able to switch between the MSG and KJV, Strongs, and commentary all for the price of the MSG. Best deal you'll get AFAIK.

### 5/5 — The Best Gets Better

*2009-05-12*

This application is really polished and the 2.2 update brings many refinements.

### 5/5 — The Best Bible App!

*2009-03-13*

WOW! I just got this app and I am blown away by it. Great UI, and I love the full screen viewing! This app has pretty much every option I wanted for reading and study. I have looked at all the other major bible apps and this one is by far the best out of the ones I have seen. And for anyone who thinks that it is expensive they should look at the olivetree and the mantis apps; the biblescope pricing is very reasonable. Keep adding more commentaries and bible versions and this will be the perfect iphone bible rescource.

### 5/5 — Excellent app, committed developer

*2009-01-12*

This is a fantastic application - very user friendly and all the functionality you need from a Bible application. I bought this as I wanted the Message translation and this gives me so much more besides. The app is made even better now that the developer has secured the rights to the NIV family of translations. I know, through email correspondence, that he's been working hard to secure this for the UK market too - not his fault that the UK has weird copyright laws! The developer has always responded promptly and courteously to emails offering excellent user support. I cannot recommend this app highly enough!

### 5/5 — Bug workaround

*2008-12-11*

Check at the app store. And be patient. But it is hard to see why Apple has approved two or more updates for other apps whilst holding up this one. What's the story, Apple?

### 5/5 — Surpasses BibleXpress in functionality and content

*2008-11-01*

BibleScope is the premiere Bible app for the iPhone -- and that's coming from someone who has bought and tried 'em all.

It surpasses BibleXpress - my former favorite - by adding important translations (including The Message) and a fast, simple navigation process. Using BibleScope, no single verse is ever more than two or three taps away. As a result, this is a great Bible to use in Sunday Schools, services, or even when teaching or preaching. In addition:

- The full text of all translations is on the iPhone, so the Bible works even when you are not connected to the Internet. This is not the case with many of the less expensive programs.

- The program makes it easy to bookmark passages and add personal notes.

- The text is clear and easy to read, even on the iPhone's tiny screen.

In short: it's the perfect software Bible -- fast, friendly, accurate, and mobile.

Finally: a note to those who claim: "This should be free." If you want free copies of the Bible, there are several places to get them. The Gideons encourage you to steal them from any hotel room ... and there are several Bible apps for the iPhone that are available at no charge. When you purchase a program like BibleScope, you are paying for the convenience of having a favorite translation close at hand at all times ... and powerful features like search, bookmarking, easy navigation, and annotation. A worker is worthy of his wages ... and, clearly, a lot of work has gone into this great application. Mr. Ham deserves to be paid for making such an elegant and effective software Bible.
